CHAPTER 17: Twelve Chaotic Dragons

After hearing Darwin scream, Leo paused. He slowly turned to face Darwin.

“I-I was not-not actually going to run away. I forgot something in the forest,” he stuttered, trying to make an excuse.

“Oh really,” Darwin said, as he suddenly appeared in front Leo.

Leo gulped hard as he faced Darwin.

“I’m so…sorry,” Leo stammered.

Darwin sighed, brushing his hand against his hair.

“Don’t do it again. You know there are a lot of people who are looking for you. Now, you see the reason why I cannot allow you move to Ivandale,” Darwin spoke, his anger subsiding.

“It was just a one-time mistake. It won’t repeat itself again, I promise,” Leo pleaded.

“You were partially at fault too, Darwin. You did not warn him,” Varrick defended.

Leo nodded in agreement as he continued to glare at Darwin. Darwin looked away and did not mutter a word. He walked up to the front door and closed it behind him.

“Will he be fine?” Leo asked, worried about what was going through Darwin’s head.

Varrick did not respond. He walked into the house to, leaving Leo.

“What’s up with these two?” he thought to himself, following Varrick into the house.

Gradually, the sun set and the place began to become dark. Darwin and Varrick till did not mutter a word to Leo. They had gone to their individual rooms, minding their business.

Leo sat on the couch in his room, thinking about what had happened. He couldn’t believe that he surged out a great amount of aura when at some point, he had nothing like magic. He looked at his palm and a smile grew on his face.

“I’m becoming stronger and slowly, I’ll soon achieve my dreams,” he thought to himself.

Suddenly, his room door opened.

“Start packing your stuff, we’re leaving tomorrow. As soon as the sun should rise, we should be on our way,” Darwin said.

Leo still could not believe it. He jumped out of the chair in joy.

“Sure thing, Master Darwin,” Leo replied, excitement lacing through his voice.

Darwin glared at Leo.

“I hope we’re not making a huge mistake by taking him to Ivandale and enrolling him in Scarlet Magic High School,” Darwin thought to himself, worried and conscious. “It may actually work out, I hope.” Darwin walked out and closed the door behind him.

It felt like a surge of wind, passing through his body, his soul, his spirit.

“You are the next… the next… the next…” the voice repeated, giving him hints.

Leo turned on his, uncomfortable. His sleep was being interrupted. Who could be talking to him? The pressure he always felt when the spirit spoke to him always made him uncomfortable. He suddenly woke up, panting.

“Who could it be and what is he trying to say?” Leo contemplated, sitting up straight on the bed.

Leo began to calm down. He controlled his breathing as he got up from the bed.

“I wonder what time it is?” he said, walking up to the curtains and raising it up. The sun was already rising and the birds began to sing.

“It’s already mor-”

“Leo, it’s time to go,” Varrick said, barging into Leo’s room. “You’re not ready yet?”

“I- I am, I’ll be down in a few,” Leo replied, rushing into the toilet.

After a few minutes, Leo was ready and he carried his little load outside.

“Is that all?” Darwin asked, arranging everyone’s load into the cart which they were to use to travel to Ivandale.

“Yes, that’s all,” Leo replied.

“Alright then, let’s go,” Varrick responded.

They all entered into the cart, which was drawn by two horses and they began their journey to Ivandale.

Meanwhile, in the hideout of the Fang of Chaos, a meeting for the 12 chaotic dragons was called. The 12 chaotic dragons are the 12 strongest followers of the dragon king. They are located at various places in Ivandale. A meeting is normally called when either one of them dies or one of them betrays them. The chaotic dragon is divided into two; the lower-ranked and the higher-ranked. The top six are the higher-rank and the remaining six are the lower-rank. The Fang of Chaos receives their instructions from the strongest among the chaotic dragons, Mavin. He was the second in command when the dragon king was still alive.

“Lapo was killed? By who?” one of the 12 asked, banging his hand on the table.

“Be calm, Elliot,” another one spoke.

“What do you mean by I should be calm, Anias. He got himself killed by a nobody,” Elliot responded, anger lacing through his voice.

“He was killed by Leo, the son of the Dragon king,” Anias said, crossing his arms and relaxing on his seat.

This got the attention of all the other 8 who were already seated for the meeting.

“Wait, did you say Leo? I heard his magic orb was sealed of by that woman sage,” Filip, one of the 12 chaotic demons, responded.

“Yes, it was but after he met her accomplices, his magical powers began to sip out,” Anias said.

“Then, if he’s this strong, how are we meant to capture him,” Elliot questioned.

“I think that’s wh-”

“That’s what this meeting is about. We need to think of a way to capture him and also, we need to find a replacement for Lapo,” a man walked into the meeting room, his aura malicious and heavy.

As he walked in, everyone paid respect by bending their heads over. He walked up to the seat, which was at the center of the meeting table and he sat down.

“You can all raise your heads,” he said, taking full authority.

“Sir Mavin, what took you so long?” Anias asked, glaring at him.

“I had some flies that I needed to teach some lesson too,” Mavin responded. “Now, straight to the point of this meeting. After the death of Lapo, the two sorcerers escorting Leo might make them move back to Ivandale, so that they can avoid a large-scale attack. We need to make a plan to get rid of the sorcerers and how we can lay our hands on Leo.”

The meeting on how to get their hands on the only person with the dragon king’s blood became underway.
