“Finally, I can get back home and rest my head.” Lucas came out of the store where he worked as a part-time cleaner, he was done for the day and wanted to head back home to rest his head.
There wasn't much for him to do when he got back home, he had to rest his head. He had five jobs for the next day, “After all that work I need to get a day to sit down and relax. But if I do that then I will be down on payment and stuff. The last thing I want is that stupid landlord to come and throw me out on the streets like I can't do anything.” Lucas kicked an empty can as he walked down the street. He let out a defeated sigh as he kept walking. “Who am I kidding? The man will make sure that I don't even find another house in the city, I have to make sure I don't lose everything I have as a home.” Lucas was not the type of person that would sit back and enjoy a day off. He had been alone since his high school days, he was what people would call a total loser. All of his peers had something better doing with their lives, most of them had gone to college, and most of them were successful business people. But Lucas turned out to be a loner and a failure who survived by working multiple jobs to keep his living up. ‘Just to keep on working, maybe one day you end up at the bottom of the rainbow.” Leo always kept his mood active with a little imagination, he didn't have anything but his thoughts. Lucas kept his head high, he wasn't going to let anything make him feel like he was not worth something. “Now Randy make sure that the toy doesn't make you forget where you're going,” Lucas turned to see a mother holding her eight-year-old son. The boy was holding a Goku action figure in his hand as he jumped up and down. “Don't worry Mom, I'm a Supah Saiyan.” The boy smiled as he ran past Lucas, he was almost on the sidewalk. ‘Doesn't she know that it's dangerous to let your kid run through the street like that? Well, I don't know what it's like to have kids so I will shut my mouth.” Lucas tried not to look at the boy. Who was he to question the parenting of others when the only parent he had left, made sure that he threw him out when he was a high school student? Lucas didn't care what others did or how they lived their life, he wanted to make sure that no matter what he would be alive to enjoy his own life for a bit longer. “Randy! Stop!” Lucas paused to look at the woman and her son, he saw that the boy had jumped into the main road. Lucas looked up and saw a truck coming with great speed, he could back away to avoid being hit but the boy was going to die. “Hey Kid! Get out of the way!” Lucas dropped his bag and rushed for the boy, he didn't know what was pushing him to do so but he ran faster than he had in his life. Lucas caught the boy, he didn't waste time to push him off to the sidewalk. “There!” But before Lucas could think of anything the truck came running down. It hit him with full force sending Lucas four feet into the air. Lucas landed on his back, he couldn't move nor could he even think about anything with the pain clogging his mind. “Ah shit, I just had to be the hero.” Lucas could feel himself slipping away slowly, he didn't even know what he was going to do. He could hear the voices of people around him, all of them were trying to make sure that they saved him. “At least I will get to meet Mom now, my life has been a joke anyway. There are so many things I didn't do,” Lucas' entire life flashed in front of him and he knew that his time was done for. ‘I leave this world with regrets in my heart, I wish there was a chance for me to be something that could change the world. Well maybe in the next life, I will be someone who can change the whole world.” Lucas smiled before closing his eyes accepting death, everyone standing close to his body was shocked to see that the boy had died saving another soul. “What a hero, I hope he rests easy.” A man commented as the ambulance began to pull up. Lucas opened his eyes, he could feel something a bit strange. ‘What is going on here? Is this the way to heaven or hell?’ he was looking around a void space, there was nothing he could see. “Now push Abigail! Push!” Lucas looked around, he didn't know who was making that sound. He was a bit confused, he looked around trying to find out where he was. “One more time Abigail, Push!” Lucas then felt something pull him out of where he was, there was a bright light and suddenly he could breathe. ‘Is this what heaven is meant to feel like? Why do I feel weird?” Lucas couldn't see anything like something was blurring his vision. “It's a boy. What do you want to call him?” A lady's voice asked, Lucas was still confused as to what had happened trying to put together what was going on by his side. It then felt like someone was taking him around, they handed him to another person. Lucas opened his eyes to see a lady with brown hair, she also had a voluptuous chest where she held Lucas close to. She had a nice smile and she looked like all those ladies that would be seen in modelling companies. “My beautiful son, I will name him Leo .” The lady smiled, there were happy voices beside her. Lucas looked around, he didn't understand what had happened or where he was. “What in the world is going on here?” Lucas looked around, he was not even sure that there was an explanation given for why he was still alive or breathing. “That truck hit me, I felt my life was over and I know there was no way anyone would have survived that so how am I alive?” Reincarnation was something called impossible in various parts of the world and called a myth. But Lucas was alive not due to anything but his luck and his act of selflessness, he had done something that no one would even think of doing. Jumping in to save a child from a truck, he had given his life for another so for some reason he was reborn into another world. Lucas had been reborn into a different realm in a world called Ivandale, here he was given the name Leo, it was like something he had been reading in his comics and he saw it as impossible. The world was vast and filled with many wonders that Leo was not yet used to. But it took him 17 years to get used to the world and its surroundings and his new name. There were so many different things in the new world he was living in. He lived in a village on the outskirts of Ivandale in a village called Lyron. “Leo ?! Can you come help me with something?” Abigail, Leo's mother called out for him, she was a normal farmer and did everything to make sure that her son was happy. “Coming Ma,” Leo got up from his daydreaming, he was different from Kids his age in Lyron. He was bigger and somehow stronger than them but he wasn't discriminated against; rather they saw him as their big brother and someone who would help them out when they needed the help. “What were you doing inside? You were daydreaming again weren't you?” Abigail asked her son, Leo smiled as he stepped out of the house. He was a six-foot-tall young man, he had a well-chiselled chin and well-toned muscles. His dark brown hair framed his face, and his build made him look like he was a trained warrior. “You could have used your magic to move this inside, I wonder why you called me.” Leo teased his mother, he was well aware that she could have used her wind magic to move the load and not call him but she would always want to call him for help. Abigail smiled looking at her son, she knew that there was no way he would even let her go free for bringing him out. “So a mother can't ask her son for help? I wanted to make sure that there was nothing wrong with you. You have been quiet since you didn't awaken your core.” Another unique thing about Ivandale is its people's ability to use magic. They were blessed with magic and mana, and the people of Ivandale could use the elements of fire, water, earth, wind, lighting, ice, and sound. There were other elements but they could only be used by people or races of higher mana. Ivandale was divided into four parts; Darwino, Aranthia, Duriholm, and Siv. Eldoria belonged to the elves, creatures filled with mana and were stronger than the humans in every way. Duriholm belonged to the dwarves, who were the craftsmen of Ivandale, Siv the land that belonged to the druids, who were the protectors of the tree of time. “Come on Mom, I am okay. I can't be the only one in the whole of Ivandale that doesn't have a magical affinity yet. I know it might take time but when it comes it would be great! Just like my father’s rare blue flame.” Leo looked at his mother with a smile on his face, he knew that she would be worried sick and there was no way she would have been able to do anything to make his mother happy. Abigail smiled when she saw him in good spirits, nothing was going to make him sad or feel out of place. “Yes dear, it will be like your father’s blue flames.” Both of them carried the load into the barn, it was like there was nothing else going to make them feel like there was no hope left for Leo. Suddenly out of nowhere, a dark cloud covered Lyron. Abigail felt a warm and dark breeze, it was something that she was a bit familiar with and it was clear she wasn't going to be saying anything to her son. “Oh no, it can't be them. Not now! Why are they here?” Abigail muttered to herself, Leo headed inside after they had dropped the equipment. Abigail looked in the direction where Leo had entered. She had a worried look on her face, it was like she was hiding something and she didn't want Leo to see it. She walked out of the barn to see three people hovering over the barn. They were powerful beings and they were not trying to hide it from anyone. “Well, I didn't expect to see you here. Do you still live? You are one stubborn human girl.” one of the beings spoke up, it was in the form of a man and had a shadow flowing out of his body. “What do you want? You already killed him, didn't you?! So why are you here?!” Abigail yelled at them, she was trying her best to make sure that nothing happened to bring Leo out of the house. The beings looked at Abigail as they began to laugh evilly, it was something otherworldly but Abigail didn't let them scare her like that. She was looking at them not removing her eyes from them any time soon, she was not going to waste time there waiting for them to attack her first. “Yes I know, but you see I know you had a child with him. An offspring means that his powers were transferred to someone, so you don't need to make this like the last time we saw each other. It will be better if you hand the child over to us and we will be on our way.” Another one of the beings spoke up. She was different, her pupils were missing and her voice was deep and hoarse like she was from the underworld. “You can't hide him for long, we will find him and there is no way anyone would be able to keep him from us.” Abigail took a stance, she looked the beings in the eye. “I took you on before, I can do it again. But you are not having my son!” Abigail conjured up wind with her hands and whirlpools began to form. “You choose to die rather than hand over the boy?! You choose a rather ghastly fate, Princess Abigail! Don't worry we will give you a quicker end than we gave your Traitorous MATE!” The last being dropped to the ground, her eyes glowing as she controlled objects with her hands. Abigail ran towards the woman, and both of them clashed together sending a shockwave through Lyron. The shockwave hit Leo who had tried sneaking off, he felt his mother’s wind blow through his hair. “Something is wrong here,” Leo began to walk towards the barn to see if he would spot anyone. He reached close to feel the surge of power coming from the other side. He looked out to see his mother facing three beings that were not humans. “Mom?” Leo called out, he was looking confused when he saw his mother-facing creatures that could warp the fabric of reality. Abigail, who was focused on the battle, heard her son's call, she looked back to see him. “Leo run!” Abigail yelled and the entire barn shook at her voice. The beings looked at Leo, “That's him! He is a boy! Bring him to me!” the creature with Hollow eyes ordered. Abigail let out a loud shriek making the beings fall to the ground holding their ears. “You will not lay a hand on my son!” Abigail took off her necklace and threw it in the direction that Leo was running. The necklace flew off carrying Leo in an orb-like object, Leo was confused when he saw himself way above the ground. He looked back to see his mother doing something. “Mom! Mom! Mom!!” “You are a foolish girl aren't ya Princess Abigail! But don't worry you will be alive to see us use your son to start the end of the world.” The woman said with a smirk on her face as she was looking at Abigail. Abigail looked back to see her son was somewhere safe. “No, you are the foolish ones for coming here thinking I would be as weak as I was back when I was still pregnant. I didn't do this back then only because I was trying to make sure that my child was okay.” Abigail raised her hand to the air, the three beings saw her do it and they knew what she was planning to do. “An Ancient Forbidden Spell? You will kill yourself too, and I know you would love to see your son again. So there is no way you are killing yourself.” Abigail smiled and looked at the beings, “I have lived my life, and I will give anything to be with my beloved. So to make sure my son has a future and life to live, I am willing to do anything!” Abigail took a step back, “VOID PULL: IMPLOSION OF WORLDS!” there was a sound gust of wind in the area pulling everything within a five-mile radius closer to the implosion. “Fool! Since he is alive there will be others that will stop at nothing to make sure they find him. Your death has no cause Abigail!” the woman yelled as she was being pulled into the collision. “I made sure that I prepared for it, I sealed his powers all these years waiting for you. My son will be the saviour of Ivandale and all her people! He will not be a tool of destruction!” Abigail yelled back, she looked at them smiling. “I die knowing that there is still someone to protect Ivandale. Leo, become what your father saw you would be my son. I love you.” There was a massive explosion, the spot where the barn and house stood had a huge crater.Leo was struggling to break free from the orb that he was trapped in. He didn't know how he was going to be able to find a way out of it. Then he heard a massive explosion. Leo turned to see the smoke cloud forming where his house once stood. He was petrified when he realized that the cloud meant that his mother was no more, and he was all that was left of his family. Tears welled up in Leo's eyes, he was looking at the smoke cloud as they kept rising. “Mom, please no.” Leo's words were cut with sobs, “I couldn't do anything to save her, even in this world I am a weak pathetic being.” Leo sat down as the orb carried him away from the scene, looking at their house lying in destruction. The only thing Leo could think of was his past life and when he was still a high schooler. He lived all his life running from everyone and everything, he didn't want to be part of anything. In his former life, he had the name Lucas. He was a frail child neglected by the older people and bullied b
Leo felt a surge of energy going through his body. He was not familiar with that amount of power. Leo was originally bigger and stronger than most children in Lyron, he was some kind of different breed. But Leo never questioned his strength, he was born with it and there was nothing about it that had made him question anything. But it was a bit different now, he had awakened something within him, and he was going to be using his powers to make sure that he didn't die. Leo got up, he was looking at the Orc Bear with pure rage in his eyes and there was no way he would be letting the creature land another blow on him like that. “What is this feeling?” Leo looked at his body. Although it was covered in wounds, he could feel energy and power coming from it. He looked at the Orc Bear as it prepared to charge at him one last time. He didn't know what he was going to do. The Orc Bear charged faster than before, but Leo didn't move this time. “Come on! Show me what you can do!” Leo l
Where Leo’s home stood, a crater was formed and there was no sign of life anywhere close to it. There was no way anyone would have survived an explosion that massive. Above the crater, three beings were hovering there. They resembled the ones that had attacked Leo’s home. “So they failed to bring in Abigail and the core. I wonder what they were thinking when they tried to face Abigail. Did they forget that she was the same person who fought with Vallin? I don't even know why I was stupid enough to let them go for her when I knew that I could have come on my own.” “You thought that there was going to be a chance that they wouldn't slip up, there was nothing there to tell you that you were sending fools to fight in a battle with a warrior you got a scar from. But for her to use a forbidden spell, it meant that she was trying to hide something from us. She also made sure that she killed the three useless soldiers we sent for her. There is no telling what might have been the secret s
Leo was looking at Darwin. He would never have imagined that there was a chance he would meet someone who knew his mother. Leo was looking at Darwin, he was trying to make sure that he didn't even make a mistake. “You knew my mother? You called her name. Do you know her?” Darwin rubbed his head, he didn't even know what he was going to do. He looked at the boy in front of him. He didn't know what he was going to do to make Leo stop asking questions. “If you ask me any other questions I might blow my head away, but there is no way for me to do that.” Darwin looked at Leo. He knew that the boy was still confused and everything was happening all too fast. Leo saw that Darwin was a bit stressed out. He noticed that all his wounds were healed and closed. He was in good condition, and he knew that the man in front of him might have been the one that made sure of that. “Sorry, I don't know what to do, and it's been a strange ride for the past few hours for me. Please tell me how yo
Leo was filled with hope, knowing that there would be a chance for him to become a stronger warrior and make sure he changed his life. “Master Darwin, if I am not mistaken, you also knew my father, right?” Leo smiled as he looked at Darwin. He wanted to learn more about his family before his training began. Darwin looked at Leo, the sad young man he had seen a few minutes ago had vanished, and he was looking at a boy who had hope, and he was going to do anything to make sure that he didn't fall back into depression. “Yes, I knew your father, he was one of the funniest fellows I met. He had a temper, a very nasty one, but when we got to talk to him, it was clear that he was a good guy. But even before we found out that he was a good guy, your mother would always be the one to knock some sense into him.” Darwin smiled as he was telling Leo about his parents. It was a clear sign that he had enjoyed his time with his old companions. Something that would always comfort him. Leo cou
“What do you mean by explode? There has to be an explanation for this, there is no way he is going to explode!” Darwin was looking at Varrick. He was a bit confused on hearing that Leo was going to explode if he tried to break the seal without training. “It means the seal that Abigail put on him is even stronger than a grade five scarlet core seal. For some reason, she wanted to make sure that he was not going to find it easy breaking the seal.” Varrick was looking at Leo. The boy was going to have a hard time thinking about breaking the seals, and it was going to be the hardest thing he could imagine doing. “You mean Abigail used that kind of spell on her son? But what was her reason for even putting it on him? I know that there were people after her, but then that means that there has to be something else she didn't drop in that message.” Darwin was not going to be thinking of what he was going to be doing that quickly. He had promised Leo that he would train him to break the se
The three stepped outside for the match to begin. Leo looked around and saw that they were deep in the heart of the forest and there were critters around there. Leo could feel the mana in the area, he saw that everywhere was filled with magic, and it was clear that there was a huge amount of mana there. “There is a huge amount of mana in the area, so I guess that all this is at the white mana core, right?” Leo looked at his master, he was waiting for Darwin to tell him that he was right. “Well no, the area is filled with Light Blue Mana Core.” He paused to see a defeated look on Leo's face. “Don't feel bad that you didn't get it right, it's not the end of the world. They feel like white mana cores and act like it, but that's one perk of the Heio forests; they don't usually give off what they are. You see, that way there is no one trying to cultivate the entire area for themselves.” Darwin paused when they had reached a particular area, “This is a good spot, it has all the space we
Darwin and Varrick were looking at Leo, they were shocked to see that the boy was still cultivating mana like it was something he would do normally. “This is pretty scary, how in the world was he able to break through the first seal and reach his dark blue mana core like this? This is something that needs to be studied.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he was emitting energy that only people who were strong warriors would have. Darwin laughed when he saw what Leo was doing without even being aware. “I don't know about you but all I see is a warrior that is ready to dance with me, I want to see what he can do,” Darwin said looking at Varrick, he was ready to face Leo in the sparring match. “You better be careful, for all we know, this boy doesn't even know his strength. There is something about his abilities that is still not settling right with me.” Varrick was looking at Leo, he didn't want his brother to lose his life all because of a foolish game he was going to be playing. “Don't
Sylvia and Leo walked side by side through the crowd, neither saying a single word. Leo would always turn several shades of red, even if their hands simply brushed against each other."Friday was amazing, by the way. We had a lot of fun," Leo said, breaking the awkward silence."I don't think your friend thought so. Do you think she hates me?" Sylvia asked, staring at him intently."Who? Anaya? Of course not. She just doesn’t warm up so easily. Don’t take whatever she says to heart—she’s mean to everyone," Leo replied plainly."I see..." Sylvia murmured, thinking deeply. She shook her head as if making a mental note and then continued to ask Leo about how he had been doing these past days and how he was adjusting to school life. She proceeded to ask about his family and other personal matters, seemingly engrossed in his everyday life and wanting to know more by the second. She was essentially asking intrusive questions that Leo couldn’t answer without thinking deeply. He still had to
After dinner, Jason reminded Leo of how upset Anaya was yesterday and thought it would be best to apologize to her sincerely tomorrow. Leo knew that Anaya wouldn't forgive so easily and wondered what would be the best way to apologize. Sydney advised the boys that if they really wanted her forgiveness, they needed to do something incredibly thoughtful and sweet, like baking a cake. They loved the idea, but the only problem was they didn't know the first thing about baking.Sydney sighed at their ability to fight beasts and conjure up magnificent things, yet they couldn't do something as simple as baking a cake. She rolled her eyes, wondering how Varrick Darwin or Alex couldn't teach them such basic skills, but then again, how could they teach what they had no knowledge of? She agreed to help them out, and they stayed up all night just to prepare it.The boys always found a way to mess up the cake in the blink of an eye. Sydney was even afraid to blink, worried they would add too much
Anaya walked into an ancient building filled with cracks of time and layers of heritage. She entered her coldly colored room, took off her uniform, freshened up, and placed the white book on her study table, ready to analyze it as she had done for the past few days. While engrossed in the letters that only she seemed able to see, Anaya once again found herself puzzled by the book's secrets and enchantments.A figure slowly emerged from her slightly ajar white wooden door."Anaya, darling..."Anaya turned to see a woman in her late seventies with beautiful long white hair and wrinkles that spoke of a life well-lived. She smiled brightly as the woman walked in."Are you back from school?""Yes, Ma. I'm back," Anaya replied."How was it? How are your friends?" her grandmother asked."They're fine, Ma. Everything's fine," Anaya answered simply."I'm sure my darling Anaya is so popular and has lots of friends. Do you want food? I'll make it," her grandmother offered."No, Ma. You've been o
Leo, Jason, and Anaya made their way to the detention room with sad and solemn expressions, taking measured steps toward three hours of boredom and annoyance."Can't you just make the Dean fall asleep again?" Leo asked hopefully."And what will we do about Derek?" Anaya countered."Can't you use a sleep spell on him too?" Jason suggested."Believe me, I've tried, but he has some super strong force field on his mind," Anaya replied, frustration creeping into her voice."Is it impossible to break?" Leo asked, curious about the kind of magic required for such a spell."Yeah, if you're an amateur. But don't worry, I'll deal with it soon enough," she said confidently. They stood by the door, hesitating between staying or running back home. The Dean walked by, spotting them instantly. He quickly pulled out a wand from his pocket, pointed it at them, and yelled,"What are you three still doing there? Time for detention!"They sighed and groaned, lowering their heads as they shuffled into the
---When detention rolled around and the four students sat quietly as the Dean watched them closely. Anaya and Jason hadn’t spoken a single word since Leo left them earlier, and their silence made him rather uneasy.Derek, being his usual self, tried to get Anaya’s attention as much as humanity would allow, but his efforts were anything but fruitful. The moment the clock struck five, Anaya left without sparing them a glance. Jason let out a sigh and placed his books in his bag. The Dean told them to leave as soon as possible so the workers could clean in peace. Derek picked up his bag and sneered at them before leaving with the Dean.Leo and Jason stood on the steps in front of the school's main gate, only to realize their carriage wasn’t there. They glanced at the row of fly cycles parked nearby and remembered Varrick’s words: They needed to start traveling on their own; the school run was over.Jason sat on the stairs, not in the mood to ride home just yet. Leo joined him and sugges
Leo got home with a solemn expression on his face. He had barely eaten his dinner and didn’t even flash his famous smile. Anytime Darwin, Varrick, or Sydney asked about school, he would only give one-word answers, which was unlike him. Darwin and Varrick assumed it was just the stress of school getting to him, so they didn’t press further. They were certain Leo couldn’t have been bullied—he was stronger than most of his peers and knew exactly when to fight and when not to. Sydney, on the other hand, thought otherwise and decided to speak with him after dinner. The night grew quiet once dinner was over. Darwin and Varrick, exhausted from running around Ivandale with Alex, quickly lay down to rest. The only sounds that filled the air were the night critters and animals, adding to the soothing sounds that come with the night.Leo had already snuggled under his covers, and the oil lamp was about to be blown out when two light taps came at his door. Instinctively, he said, “Come in.” Sydne
"I'll be back," Leo assured his friends, getting up to follow Sylvia. They moved to a quiet corner, and Sylvia struggled to get her words out."Why..." she began but trailed off, her mouth opening and closing with hesitation."Why are you hanging out with her?" she finally managed to ask."Who?" Leo asked, confused.Sylvia, too ashamed to clarify, looked away. Leo followed her gaze, his confusion growing when he realized who she meant."Anaya? She’s my friend. And if you really think about it, she’s the reason I’m in this school to begin with. Besides, I’m hanging out with Jason too," he explained, trying to clear up any misunderstanding."Please... please stop hanging out with her," she stammered, still avoiding his eyes."Why?""Because you can’t." Sylvia slapped a hand over her mouth, shocked by her own outburst. Her face flushed as she noticed the curious stares from nearby students."You don’t have a reason?" Leo asked, growing more puzzled by the second."I do! But... I can’t te
"What are you three doing together?..." the Dean echoed, grabbing Derek by the collar. They immediately dispersed and took their assigned seats. The Dean shook his head, too tired to even nag."You have a new inmate," he said, emphasizing the word inmate so sadistically it felt like they were in some inescapable prison—as if they wouldn’t leave in the next two hours and be tortured for his entertainment. He casually shoved Derek forward and pointed to a seat."Take a seat and be quiet..." he snapped. "Taking out a book or two wouldn’t hurt either," he added taking his sat at the table right in front of the class. As he took a sip of his coffee, Anaya stared at him intently and unwaveringly. The boys noticed this and became increasingly curious. After mere seconds The Dean yawned for a moment before completely passing out.Anaya couldn’t help but feel annoyed at how long it had taken her to perform a simple spell and make the man fall asleep. She silently promised herself to get better
---"Hello," she said with a smile."Hi?" they replied, clearly unnerved by her sudden friendliness."Candy?" she asked, offering a variety of sweets in her palm."Yes, please!" Leo exclaimed, eagerly taking one. Jason followed suit, unwrapping his piece and popping it into his mouth."It's poisoned," she stated with the straightest face.Their eyes widened in panic as they stared at her."I'm kidding," she said, laughing hard. "Goodness, you two are so gullible."Leo scoffed. "That's not funny.""You have to admit, it's a little funny. You should’ve seen your faces," she added, laughing even harder. This was the first time they’d ever heard her laugh, and it was so infectious that they couldn’t help but laugh along with her. It was impossible to stay mad."Did you find anything new in the book?" Leo asked, grabbing another "poisoned" candy."Not much," she admitted. "I found a few strange codes and some vague riddles.""Like what?" Jason asked curiously.Anaya opened her mouth to exp
