Sensing her increasing curiosity, Elijah adjusted his composure and tried to look casual and dismissive.

"It's for someone. Someone very special to me," he said, giving a smile as he tucked the box into the inner pocket of his jacket.

Winnie wasn't convinced, but she decided to let it go. It wasn't much of her business anyway, and she had begun to trust Elijah way more than she probably should.

"What was it about? The issue you had to go sort out earlier," she said, opting for a change in topic.

Elijah hesitated, wondering how much to tell her.

Sensing his indecision, Winnie responded with a gentle smile, proposing they retreat to the living room for a drink, ensuring her grandfather's rest is undisturbed.
