“This is simply ridiculous. The general would never agree to something so insulting. I should call him again,” Colin said.

“I didn't think there's any need to do that. I'd have preferred we go to the station in our car. They want us to make statements. Let's give them what they want,” Dr Hill suggested.

Montgomery looked at him, and a shiver ran down his spine. He was perhaps the most ruthless, or rather, plotting of the lot.

His calm demeanor did not fool him. Deep down, this man could manipulate things to his favor. He made a mental note to avoid him, but he feared for Jack.

One threat, and he may break.

“You keep saying that, but it makes no sense,” Nathan whined. “Do you know what will happen to our reputation if we're seen in the station, especially in a group?”

“They'd think we would probably have a meeting with the general. You know, to discuss the City's upcoming celebration,” Colin said in a voice that sounded like he had just understood what Dr Hill was trying to communicat
