Chapter 247

Winnie moved out of her grandfather's hug, as they both looked at Elijah at the same time.

“What favor?” He was quick to ask.

“Can I speak with your grandfather alone?” He asked.

A flash of hurt crossed her eyes as she widened. “Why alone?”

“Because this is a conversation I'd rather have alone with him.”

“Fine!”

She didn't wait for him to change his mind or try to change his mind. Grabbing her purse from the spot it had fallen as she hugged her grandfather, she angrily walked past him.

He held his breath until he heard the door slam shut.

Releasing the breath he was holding, he took a step forward, and then another.

He plopped on a space on the bed and turned to the old man.

“Your heart is fragile,” he said.

“Is that what you want to talk about? Or your parents?” William asked.

“No, not my parents. I will find out the truth in time. Please leave them out of this.”
