“I think I forgot to bring some salt for purification. Do you think you could please get me some, John?” Elijah asked the man, because he wanted to be alone long enough to actually use his powers to heal William Carter’s heart.

“Gotcha,” he said, and turned towards the door.

When the door shut behind him, Elijah breathed out in relief, and proceeded with the real procedure. He took the gloves off so he could place his hand directly on the old man’s chest.

The moment his bare hand touched his chest, the light in his ring came on. It started to glow more than usual. A scowl etched on his face at the surprising development. It was almost as if the ring was warning him about a danger ahead.

“Or it’s just trying to trick you so you can let your guard down, and not go ahead to heal Mr Carter. If you prove everyone wrong and actually heal the man, it proves you’re able to control your powers, instead of it controlling you,” a voice in his head said.

He nodded his head, and decided to proceed
