“Did they say anything else, Sam?” Logan finally asked, breaking the silence. His tone held a subtle note of anxiety that he rarely let show.

Sam shook his head. “Nothing more than that they’re back and at the house. I think they expected you’d still be at the agency or… well, anywhere but dealing with all this. I don’t think they know what you’ve been through.”

Sam waited a few steps behind them, sensing the need to give Logan and Mia a moment alone. Logan exhaled deeply, then held Mia’s hand as they walked to the front door.

As the door swung open, they were greeted by the housekeeper, who led them into the spacious living room where his parents, Charles and Eliza Frost, were seated, talking in low voices.

When his mother looked up and saw him, her face broke into a radiant smile, and she immediately rose to embrace him.

“Oh, Logan!” she exclaimed, holding him tightly. “It’s so good to see you! We’ve missed you so much.”
