Leaning casually against the doorframe, exuding arrogance, was none other than Ken Wells—her so-called fiancé.
“What are you doing here?” Selune’s voice wavered between shock and irritation.
She hadn’t expected Ken to show up now, especially not with a dozen or so bodyguards in tow.
“What? No warm welcome for your fiancé?” Ken flicked ash from the cigarette, shooting her a sideways glance. “Invite me in for a drink, sweetheart.”
"Not a good time." Selune replied sharply, keeping the door cracked just enough to block his view.
Her nose wrinkled at the pungent mix of alcohol and stale sweat clinging to him.
Ken’s smirk twisted into a sneer.
“Tsk. You’re asking for it, aren’t you?”
Even through the narrow gap, he spotted the tall guy standing behind her.
Without missing a beat, he flicked the cigarette to the ground, grinding it under his heel.
"So that’s it, huh? Are you worried someone’s gonna catch you sneaking around with another guy?”
“Don’t talk nonsense!” Selune snapped, her voice tightening with anger.
Ken scoffed, his bloodshot eyes narrowing.

Selune’s chest tightened with rage and frustration. "You...! That’s slander!" She shot back, her voice trembling. “Why is it so hard for people to believe me?!”
Suddenly, Arthur’s voice cut through, calm yet commanding.
“That’s enough.”
Selune turned, startled. Arthur stepped forward.
His piercing gaze locked onto Ken’s, and the air seemed to grow heavier.
"I can vouch for her. Selune is innocent."
