Chapter 5:

The flame feathered chicken kicked charlie with its iron-like talons, sending him flying out of the range of the battlefield. The soldiers wanted to Help, but they were still struggling with the opponents they were fighting.

Charlie, the flying man, summoned the system while he was still in flight.

"Open the system store" Charlie Said, before landing at rear end of the battlefield.

The chicken had already been waiting for him at the 'airport'. It kicked him once again before he could even land, sending him flying deeper into the forest.

Charlie flew out of the range of the battlefield, the flame feathered chicken also followed him as they both disappeared into the thick forest.

"Bring him back alive! I want to torture him in the most cruel ways possible!" The black monkey's voice sounded in Charlie's ears as he zoomed past the towering trees.

The system store was opened and rows of texts appeared before him.

Charlie clicked on the abilities section, to see it further divided into different categories like; lightning manipulation, Earth manipulation, water manipulation, Wood manipulation, illusion, Psychic Arts… etc. But each sub-section was locked and it required seeker's Points to unlock.

The [Earth escape manual] and [the ghost shadow manual] given to him by the system belongs to the earth manipulation ability sections and without the ability, charlie can't use the technique.

400 seeker's Points? What the…

Within this short time of seeking death, Charlie has got to know how the seeker's Points is being calculated.

It is calculated based on how high the level of what he's seeking death from is and how strong the killing intent from the creature he was seeking death from is.

So, to get the Ability, he needs to farm 80 more seeker's Points from the beasts. In other words, he need to make them want to kill him with everything they've got.

Charlie cursed the system a few times before closing the system store panel.

All of this happened in a split second (while he was still in mid-air.

'open inventory ' it was at this time that charlie remembered that he had some equipments in the system inventory. He quickly retrieved the seeker's boots and they automatically appeared on his legs.

Immediately after landing, he popped 2 green ranked healing pills in his mouth and his injuries (internal and external) began to heal at a frightening speed.

Fortunately for him, the giant chicken slowly approached him, it wanted to intimidate him and make him feel despair before torturing him to death.

Charlie wiped away the blood trickling from the corner of him mouth with the back of his left hand as he stood up to face the approaching chicken.

With determination in his eyes, he looked at the level 5 blue ranked monster and summoned the seeker's sword.

"Now that no one is here, I won't hide my strength any longer. Even a chicken wants to trample on me just because I played weak," Charlie said, then release the restrictions placed on his energy level and his aura began to rise, from the beginning of the green rank to the peak of green rank.

The chicken's expression didn't change much. It looked at him with the expression that says "is that all you got!? Weakling!" Then proceeded to gently stroll to meet him.

At the battlefield…

The general was still battling the berserk ape and the army were losing the war when suddenly, almost half of the beast army stopped moving for a second, before turning back to fight with their fellow beasts.

The demon beasts' eyes had turned black as they fought crazily against themselves.

Some of the soldiers were confused, "what type of sorcery is this? Are there spies among the demonic beasts?"

"What in heaven's name is going on here?"

The soldiers who had already made up their minds to die on the battlefield now became the spectators watching the enemies kill themselves.

The black ape also stood rooted to the group, his facial expressions kept changing like a slide show. Sometimes he'll wince in pain, other times it'll laugh like a posssed donkey.

The general studied him for a few seconds. He stared at him warily, to check if it was not a trick.

Suddenly, the General's eyes lit up, and he hacked at the black ape crazily, hoping to kill it with those powerful strikes.

After three successive strikes, the black ape began to guard, then it counter attacked crazily.

It took out a large horn from the small purse at his waist and blew air into it with all the strength he could muster.

After hearing The sound of the horn, The crazy beasts who were attacking their teammates suddenly stopped, before looking round the battlefield confusedly. Then they retreated into the ranks, creating a space of about 50meters between them and the human soldiers.

The black ape who had also retreated, looked at a certain part of the forest with anger written all over his face.

"Show yourself, you bloody coward!!!" The black ape roared, his eyes not leaving that part of the forest.

"Hahaha!! Okay, you've caught me!" A young boy who looked not older than 18 years old jumped down from a tree in the distance while slowly approaching the two armies.

The two armies paused, waiting for the young boy to approach. The black ape was more at alert, ready to pounce on this newcomer once he gets closer.

"Who the hell is that? Why is the black ape acting as if this harmless youth just killed his parents?" An old man from the logistics teams asked the young man standing beside him.

"That is Pascal, Pascal wild, the tenth on the awakened ranking list." The other man replied.

"Awakened ranking lists? Who are the awakened, and why is there a ranking list for them?" The old man asked, confusion boldly written all over his face.

"Wait, what!! Have you been living under the rock your whole life?! You don't know who the awakened are?!" The young man exclaimed.

"They are Some set of people who gained special supernatural abilities like; illusion and Elemental powers, like the ability to control and manipulate a certain element (wood, lightning, earth, metal, air, ice). These set of people are called The "AWAKENED"

They posses supernatural abilities that are beyond normal human capabilities. And the awakened ranking list is the Criteria used to rank these special people according to their strenghts and combat prowess." The young man explained.

The others were looking at him with pity in their eyes as he explained to the old man whose head was full of white hairs.

"should we tell him?" one man whispered to another man that was busy whetting his sword.

"let him find out by himself!" the man replied, then concentrated on what he was doing.

the young man noticed the strange gazes directed at him, but he still continued to explain to the old man.

"wait! who are the awakened?! and why is there a ranking list for them?!" the old man asked again.

"You weren't listening all these while!?? Then I'll explain once again. listen carefully... " the patient man explained a second time.

"who are the awakened?! are they powerful?! why is there a ranking list for them?!" the old man asked the same question for the third time. " Are they the ones who killed Chen, Fu, and the others?!"

the old man suddenly acted strange; he sat down on the floor, curled up into a ball while holding his knees firmly with both hands.

"They are beasts! no! they wanted to kill me also!"

"I just fu**ing explained to you!!! is this a prank or something!!?? where's the camera?!!" the young man shouted. "who are the beasts?!"

seeing this, one of the people around then decided to put him out of his misery.

"Old Wang's sickness has relapsed! all you need to do is to calm down, then silently put him to sleep... " the man said, then with a sharp movement , he hit the old man's neck.

after carrying the fainted man to one of the tents, he explained to the young man.

During the awakening of the spiritual energy, Old Wang's children and grandchildren were killed during a beast stampede, with that resulting to the mental ailment that always recurs when he sees blood or an Awakened.

meanwhile...

while the group of logistics teams were chatting, the battle had already started at the Frontline.

immediately after Pascal reached the Black ape's attacking range, it pounced on him like an hungry wolf.
