The London deal (3)

While Diana trusted that Elvis would get the job done, she didn't like the methods he used to do so.

Everyone knew how ruthless Elvis was. Although his ruthlessness had brought him to where he was today, no one felt comfortable about it.

Diana was a bit unsettled about the fact that the agency added him to this operation without telling her since she was supposed to be overseeing this whole thing. She silently made a mental note to have a long talk with her superiors after this.

"I wonder what has got your mind occupied.", Kelvin said and Diana turned in a panic.

"Relax, I'm not gonna bite.", Kelvin smiled when he saw her panicked facial expression.

"Sorry, you just scared me.", Diana laughed and Kelvin's smile widened.

She was faking.

Kelvin had dealt with thousands of people in his lifetime and if there's one thing he had learned to do to a fault, it was to understand body language.

Although Diana had been able to fool him for years and for that, he gave her credit. It was a lot easier to read her now that he knew her game.

"I thought you said you wouldn't be able to make it here on time?", Diana asked.

"Well, everything fell into place faster than I expected.", Kelvin responded.

Diana was about to raise another topic when she spotted Gary and the people he took with him walking out of the door they had passed through earlier.

'Wait, isn't Elvis suppose to be tracking him?', Diana thought.

.....

Elvis dislodged the last knife from the dead bodies in the room before walking out. In just five minutes of "interrogation", he had gotten all the information that he needed.

Mr. Galliard was never going to meet the Apostles directly. He had already made payments to them and today, the location of the package was supposed to be delivered.

The flash drive containing the location was going to be dropped somewhere in the building. Unfortunately, the man Elvis talked with did not know the exact location so this was going to be a chore.

"Did you get all of that?", Elvis asked.

"I did. I've forwarded the information to the agency and the agents watching Galliard. They should be able to follow him and find out where the flash drive is hidden.", Gloria's voice sounded from his earpiece.

"Will that guard's testimony be enough to at least convict Galliard?", Elvis queried. He just wanted to know if it did so that they could use it as a backup if the agents failed to get the flash drive which contained even more convicting evidence.

"Unfortunately no. The guard was smart enough to not use Galliard's name in his statement and he was also tortured into saying it. I'm sure you can guess the rest." Gloria said.

"That's too bad," Elvis noted.

He then walked towards a door he had seen on his way here and had made a mental note to check out properly. After all, he still had to find the people he had walked in here to find.

If his suspicions were right and those people were part of the apostles, then the flash drive would be somewhere in this part of the building.

Elvis walked through the door with his gun in his grasp. The room was mostly dark, only being illuminated by the few bulbs that released a dim white light.

He spotted an elevator at the end of the room and quietly walked toward it while making sure to stay alert. When he reached the elevator, he tapped on the button and the elevator doors opened. He walked through them and the doors closed before the elevator began to move down automatically.

"Where does this elevator lead?", Elvis asked as he checked his gun's magazine to make sure he had enough bullets.

"Down.", Gloria responded.

"I know that. What I don't know is what exactly is down there?", Elvis clarified.

"Well, nothing comes up on the building's layout. That's a dead zone. I advise that you get out and wait for backup.", Gloria stated with her fingers tapping away at the keyboard.

She could not see anything below the building so wherever that elevator led to, it was obviously not a place that Elvis could handle alone.

"All agents, code purple. Available units should regroup with agent Elvis at the west side of the building.", Gloria said into the microphone connected to her headset.

After about 10 seconds, she still had not gotten any confirmations from any of the units.

"All agents, code purple. Do you read me?", Gloria said again, this time with an underlying tone of panic.

Suddenly, all of the screens in the trailer went dark before a "no signal" message popped up on the screen.

"We've lost the signal, there is no communication!", One of Gloria's colleagues said as he tapped on the keyboard in a bid to restore the connection.

At that moment the realization dawned on every one of them. It was a trap!

"Elvis, do you read me? Get out now!", Gloria shouted into the microphone even though she knew it was futile. Nobody could hear her.

Everyone in the trailer jumped when they heard gunshots outside. There were supposed to be a few agents positioned outside to protect the trailer and the fact that they could hear gunshots could only mean one thing.

The shots stopped after a minute but everyone was still on edge until the doors to the trailer opened and they saw three men dressed in all-black wielding assault rifles.

"Shit.", That was all Gloria could say before she and everyone else in that trailer fell to the nonstop barrage of bullets.

.....

The elevator stopped and the doors opened into an underground parking lot. Elvis scanned the area before moving forward slowly.

'How the hell do you not include an underground parking lot in your building layout?', Elvis pondered internally.

Everything about this just screamed "Hell No!", but he was willing to see this one through.

There were no cars in the parking lot, but about half of it had no lighting so it was completely dark.

'It seems darkness is a popular trend here.', Elvis thought.

Suddenly, he could now hear footsteps heading his way!

He quickly pointed the gun towards the direction he was hearing the footsteps from but due to the echoes caused by the emptiness of the parking lot, he had misjudged.

Suddenly, he saw an arm grab him from behind. He turned only to get hit on the throat and had himself disarmed!

Elvis coughed violently as his air pathways seemed to have gotten damaged from that hit. He finally got a good look at his attacker as he retreated to a safe distance.

Even though he could not recognize the man dressed in all black in front of him, his attacker was none other than Jerry! Kelvin's left-hand man!

Jerry rushed towards Elvis who still had trouble breathing. Elvis quickly pulled out a knife and swung at Jerry but he quickly grabbed Elvis' wrist and in one quick movement, he redirected the knife to stab Elvis right in the heart!

With widened eyes, Elvis watched as his attacker twisted the dagger to make sure he finished the job properly.

A small gasp escaped his mouth before his body went limp and fell to the ground with a thud that echoed in the empty parking lot.

Jerry lifted his hand to the earpiece in his left ear, "I'm done."

"Good job. The rest is already in motion."

....

Diana maintained the smile on her face as she talked with Kelvin but she could not help but feel worried about the fact that she had yet to be updated on anything for about 30 minutes now!

There was uncertainty in her heart and she wanted to make sure that everything was okay but she knew that leaving this place now that she was already talking with Kelvin was not an option.

She had a mission she had to accomplish and all she could do now was put her hope in her partners. At least that was her thought until she heard the next words that came out of Kelvin's mouth.

"Stop worrying, they are all dead.", Kelvin said as he took a sip of the glass of red wine in his grasp.

"Excuse me?", Diana asked, hoping to God that the first thought that went through her mind as she heard those words was nothing but paranoia.

"Every single one of them has met their creator... or whatever it is they believe in. It doesn't matter anyway."

Those next words were the confirmation she so very much did not need to have. Her body quaked as she thought about what those people had just gone through.

If Kelvin was speaking the truth, which she highly doubted that he wasn't, then those people had died under her command. It was her job to oversee this operation's success, and yet all she had done was send them to their graves.

"Don't worry my beautiful Diana. You will be joining them soon and I've made sure it will be in the worst way possible.", Kelvin smiled and after those words, all the lights in the building went off.

As expected, there was a lot of clamoring from the guests who wondered why they had suddenly been thrown into darkness but after less than a minute, the lights came back on.

Everyone was still confused but the party continued after a few moments. No one noticed, however, that over 30 people in that crowded hall had gone missing!
