Chapter ThirtyEight
Lucas's P.O.V

I came to on the bottom floor. I looked around and the smoke was thick and flames were swallowing the walls licking up to the next floor.

"Lucifer, we got to get those kids out," There was no answer just the sounds crackling newly kindling.

"Lucifer, stop messing around, we have to get out." I say again, but it was left hanging in the air with pure silence.

I began to choke on smoke in my lungs, I can't breathe, I need air, I fell back to my knees, I look up through the hole in the ceiling, the kids stopped crying and screaming, that not a good sign, I have to get out, but how?

I look around and notice a part of the stairs that were still being enveloped with flames, I jumped over them onto the top stair, I could feel it creek underneath my weight.

Lucifer has really bad timing to just leave from existence in the worst situations but there's no time to think about that right now. I jump from the stairs and grab onto the edge of the wooden planks and pull myself
