The first gunshot from the struggle still made the air linger with tension. Mason feeling Gab's eyes staring at him through the corner of his eye socket made him halt his step. Mason adjusted his gaze to Sonia, who was still shaking as a result of the vibration, whereas Gab stood without effect. Mason wasn't surprised that Gab didn't flinch when Sonia had mistakenly pulled the trigger, as he was familiar with the gunshot due to the illegal activities that required the carrying of firearms, like the jackal incident.

“Are you okay, Miss Sonia?” Mason asked, "Are you okay, Miss Sonia?" Sonia bobbed her head, adjusting her gaze to her brother, her face filled with irritation. Gab shifted his attention to Mason and Sonia, understanding what her brother was capable of. She tried to distract him, but Gab ignored her every effort and pinged his gaze on Mason.
