The Donation

"You can leave now," Mason said dismissively, resting his eyes on Mr.Douglas. The lecturer instantly masked his shame and hurried out of the office without turning back or glancing at the VC, whose eyes bored holes at the back of his head. When Mr. Douglas's figure disappeared through the hallway, Mason averted his eyes to the VC, puzzling at him and not satisfied with his decision to let Mr.Douglas go.

"Sir, why did you pardon Mr.Douglas considering his crimes and abuse to the student, someone like him doesn't deserve a second chance to even work here?"

Mason nodded his head, standing from his seat. "I didn't pardon Mr.Douglas for his sake, vice chairman. I did it for the sake of the students who would be returning to school. They are far behind and would need extra help. That is where Mr.Douglas comes in so he can repair the damage he did," Mason replied, glancing at the assistant, who nodded in understanding.
