Chapter 7 HIDING SECRETS

Liliana knew she was in trouble after what happened with the supervisor of the business department. That man will probably remember her face when she gets there.

She sighed deeply, already frustrated by the whole work issue. Knowing how creepy the supervisor looks at her makes her cringe.

"If I knew the result, I would have gone out of the elevator like I wanted to. Seems like I will have a tough life now." She sounded sad when she said that.

This made Nicola feel bad. He was the one who kicked out the fat man and caused trouble for her. He felt responsible for it.

"I am sorry. I didn't know things would be like that. It's my fault for kicking him out." He apologised to her.

She shook her head, "No, it's okay. You can't be sorry when all you did was help me."

"Will you be okay? That man doesn't look alright in the head." Nicola washed her, genuinely concerned.

She nodded, "I guess I'll just have to deal with whatever comes my way."

Though she wasn't fine with it, she didn't want to make someone who helped her look guilty. This was bound to happen even without the elevator incident.

Soon, the elevator opened and other people got out of the elevator. Liliana was going out and she noticed Nicola wasn't coming out.

"Aren't you coming out? You're not going to this floor?" Liliana asked in awe.

She glanced at the floor button but only the top floor button was on. So he would go to the top floor unlike everyone else? Is he working at the top floor where the CEO was?

He nodded, "Yes. I'll see you around then."

"Okay, bye." Liliana waved at him and watched the elevators closed.

This piqued her interest as to what kind of person Nicola was. Could he be someone in a high position that he confidently spoke to the fat supervisor that way?

What secret could he be hiding? She was so interested in him that she forgot she was running late.

“He must have some great secrets. I wish I could figure out what that is.” She thought before going to look for her department.

She finally found the business department, she stopped without going in. There's no way for her to know where she would work without the fat man.

“Here goes nothing.” She shut her eyes and opened them nervously.

Meanwhile, Nicola arrived at the top floor. He went to the CEO's office and knocked on the door. The butler happened to open it, happy to see Nicola.

Nicola happened to encounter some men standing around the CEO's office. They all moved out of his way without asking when he arrived. He calculated that they must be bodyguards.

The butler had been patiently waiting. He was worried in the beginning, thinking Nicola would not come but his mind changed the moment he heard Nicola call him.

"Young master! I am so glad you could make it! I hope you didn't encounter any issues on your way here." Butler James asked him.

He nodded, "It wasn't something I couldn't handle. You don't have to worry about me."

Nicola felt relieved. This is really the truth. He was the son of the richest family in the world and he had to live as a pauper all his life.

He looked around the office that screamed luxury. Everything there looked very expensive, the CEO's office was not a joke. This is what he's going to be doing from now on?

"You know everything is going to change for you from now on young master. You are no longer the street pauper everyone knows." Butler James told him.

Nicola accepted, "I am aware of the life I will be leading now. It's hard to adjust but I'll try to."

"I'll explain the situation of the family first." The butler started. "The Redgrave family is still one of the richest in the world and the Skyline company is just a small part of the many assets."

Nicola was amused. Skyline company is so huge that it is still considered small out of everything they own? He was shocked because Skyline is already part of the top three in the city.

He had done research the night before and saw many articles on the Redgrave family. He thought everything he saw on the internet about their assets was an exaggeration.

He wondered what more surprise he was in for. But first, he wanted to meet his real parents. He was curious to know what they looked like for real.

"What about my parents? When do I get to meet them?" Nicola questioned eagerly.

"Your parents aren't around by this time. They are abroad for an important business negotiation." Butler James explained.

He nodded, "Okay. I guess I'll just meet them when they come back."

Butler James smiled, "There's a lot to do here young master. You won't be bored. This office is yours but..."

"But?"

"Your parents want you to work in Skyline as a means to study. They want you to know how the business works, so you can take over in the near future." Butler James proposed.

Nicola nodded, "I guess they have a good point. I should learn something since I am not that experienced in anything."

"You don't have to do anything major or stressful. All you need to do is learn from the job, so it can help hone your skills."

"I understand what you mean. I'll do my best to work hard, I don't have a choice anyway." Nicola promised, more determined to make it work.

He was more than happy to finally have a real job. At least no one will make fun of him anymore with it. He wasn't going to slack off.

"Now that we have settled and came to an agreement, I think I should know what department you would like to start with for now, young master."

Nicola thought hard about it. What department would be most suitable for him to learn about the business?

He suddenly remembered that he had offended the annoying supervisor of the business department. The man also promised his revenge on Nicola and Liliana.

He also knows Liliana is in trouble because of him so he wanted to go there. Otherwise, Liliana would be badly bullied by the fat man.

"I think I'd like to start with the business department. That would be where I can learn more about the business better, right?" He suggested it to the butler.

“I started this. I need to make sure I end it myself.”
