Chapter 9 dare to reject me

The supervisor was angry that Liliana kept rejecting him again. He wanted to have his revenge on the both of them. 

"You still dare to reject me? I'll show you a lesson!" He tried to raise his hand on Liliana. 

Nicola scoffed, unable to keep his cool anymore. "You can't do that sir. That would be abuse, we can report you." 

The supervisor got more annoyed than ever. Liliana on the other hand was just happy to have someone like Nicola defending her. 

"You have no idea what you got yourself into! This is a warning to you! If you don't finish the project, you both will be fired!" He yelled at them and left. 

Nicola bent over to Liliana, "You don't have to think too much about it. Just do your best and leave the rest."

"I don't think I am actually worried about the project. I just find it odd." She replied him. 

Nicola nodded and found his table. He say there, staring at the desk and not knowing what to think. To be honest, he was concerned about the project. 

What exactly is the problem with the project? He wanted to ask the butler about it but he decided against it first. He should at least see what the whole project is about. 

They heard the supervisor throwing tantrums from his office. He was yelling at another worker and threatening to fire them. They wondered how a man like this ended up as the company's supervisor. 

Liliana shook her head and turned to the young man beside her. She was curious about the whole situation. She needs to at least know what the big deal is. 

"Excuse me, can I ask you a question?"

He turned to her, "Yes... what is it?" 

"What exactly is wrong with the Wightman's project? Why is everyone glooming about it?" She asked the young man. 

The young man was however shy to talk to her because she was too beautiful. He fidgetted his fingers before giving her a response. 

He sighed, "The person involved in the Wightman's project over there is a pervert. You won't last long with it either."

"What? Why is that?" 

"He always made sick requirements so no one was able to work with him. The project always failed and those involved gets fired." He explained. 

She finally understood why the supervisor wanted her in the project. That's because the person involved is someone like him. Someone who takes advantage of workers. 

"People like them should not even be in companies like these. Why would the companies hire them and make them ruin their names like that?" She muttered. 

"Will you be fine? No one has lasted long there. You are very beautiful so you'll be at more disadvantage. He'll try to do things to you." The young man warned her. 

Liliana nodded, "Don't worry. This is something I can handle. I'll be fine, that's not going to happen to me." 

"Are you sure? A lot of people said this and ended up leaving because of the pressure. You don't have to try so hard if you can't do it." He sounded genuinely concerned for her. 

"Thanks. I am sure I can do this." She was confident she could finish the project. 

She saw Nicola sitting at his table thinking. She was impressed with how calm he is about everything. She stood up and went to his side to talk to him. 

She smiled as she stopped in front of him. "Hi. Do you think we can have a drink together after work?" 

Nicola was surprised, "Really? You want to hang out with me after work?"

Nicola was surprised a girl would ask to hang out with him first. Most girls he's always met wanted rich people. He found that out the hard way after all. 

Liliana's face turned red as she quickly tried to explain that was not the case. Because she was too embarrassed to explain that she just wanted to hang out with him. 

"That's not really what happened. The thing is... I wanted to thank you." She explained. 

"Thank me? I don't think I did anything for you though." 

"Yes. You did a lot for me today and I didn't want to disappoint you at all. I thought it'd be good for us to have a drink together and talk about work too. I just want to be nice to a new colleague." 

He smiled, knowing where all the explanation is coming from. "I don't have a problem with it. It's fine with me."

She smiled, "That's great then. I'll wait for you when we close, so we can go together." 

Liliana however saw that Nicola was seriously thinking about something. She thought he was thinking about the project. 

"What are you thinking about? Are you worried about the project?" She asked him. 

Nicola quickly shook his head, "No, I was thinking of other personal things. I am not worried about the project. I'm sure we can pull this off."

She felt relieved, "That's good to know. You seriously don't have to worry about it. It's nothing serious."

Nicola liked her confidence. But he was thinking of way he can handle the project since she is at disadvantage. He didn't want her getting harassed on a project they are on together. 

All this time, they didn't know the supervisor was watching them from his office. His face was red with anger as he saw Liliana smiling at Nicola. 

He felt so angry that she rejected him only to smile at the other guy. He was determined to make her more miserable after this. 

"You rejected me for that idiot? You are such a bitch. What does he have that I don't?" He whispered. 

He made a perverted smile, "I am going to make you regret this. You'll never do this again for as long as I know. You'll regret every rejecting me." 

He took his phone and sent someone a text. He was grinning the whole time like he was writing something satisfying.
