Chapter 10 REJECTION

In the evening after closing from work, Nicola and Liliana went to a bar. Liliana was the one who invited him and took him there. He hardly goes to places like bars. 

He looked around and saw all sorts of people laughing and drinking together. There were also a group of men and some women there. 

He was a little bit timid because he has never dated a girl like Liliana. He thought all the girls he would date would be like Lisa. When he was with Lisa, he was like a servant.

He never thought a girl like Liliana would be so good to him. Most girls he has also met in his life has always looked down on him that he got used to it. 

"Why do you keep looking around? Are you that uncomfortable being here?" Liliana asked Nicola who keeps looking around frantically. 

"Not really, it's just that I don't come to bars often so I am just taking a look around." He replied her. 

This got Liliana interested, "I'm impressed. A good looking man like you should have fun once in a while you know."

He shrugged, "What can I say? Having fun at this stage if life is probably not for me." 

"Don't say that. You sound like you've gone through so many rejections." She was trying to get him to say something about himself. 

He also knew that is what she was trying to do but he doesn't have such a good past to share with anyone. Lisa is his past now. 

"I've had a lot of rejection. Most of the times, looks don't matter. I have learnt that the hard way in this world." He told her. 

She nodded, "I guess I can agree with you on that one. I know someone that only cares about status."

"Finally. Someone that agrees with me. Cheers." 

"Cheers." She clicked glasses with him and smiled. 

Just when they were talking happily, a group of men who looked very drunk got close to them. They were all holding each other and had that thug look. 

Nicola quickly guessed that they must be thugs. Liliana touched his hand, giving him a sign to just ignore them. They saw Liliana’s face and whistled. 

"Damn, look at this beautiful angel that has fallen in our midst." 

Liliana frowned, "I can't believe I am going through this nonsense. These idiots have no manners." 

She seldom met this kind of thing because she was always protected well by her father. Nicola on the other hand kept reading them. 

He really wants to stay away from trouble but these people never listen. What does it take to make them listen?

"Why don't you people move a bit away from us? You guys stink." Liliana said bravely which confused Nicola. Isn't she always scared of situations like this? 

Seeing Liliana’s face, the leader of the thugs sneered, "You are one tough good looking girl, why not come with us and have a drink?" 

"You guys should get lost. Do you think I am one of those idiots you pay?" Liliana rejected with a cold face. 

This made the leader so angry. "How dare you reject me? Do you think you have a choice?"

"She must think she is something because we are being nice to her." Another one said and they all laughed. 

"You guys should bring her here right now." The leader ordered. 

Nicola stopped them, "Don't you guys think you are doing too much? Am I invisible?"

"Who is this?" The leader mocked, "I guess he is one of us. Get lost if you don't want to lose your head boy." 

The leader signalled the men to carry Liliana anyways. They were going to force Liliana and ignored Nicola, just when Nicola was going to teach them a lesson, a voice came. 

"Hold it right there!" The person yelled. 

"Who the fuck is that?" They asked and turned to check. 

Liliana and Nicola were surprised to see their fat supervisor standing in the spotlight. It was him who asked them to stop. 

"What does he think he is doing? Is he crazy?" Liliana whispered to Nicola. 

Nicola smiled, "I guess he's a nutjob."

The fat supervisor walked out and he looked brave and decent, that Liliana couldn't help but laugh inwardly. 

"Who are you?" They asked him. 

"I am Larry." 

"What the..." 

"What are you doing around her?! Get lost! How dare you bother her? Get off before I do something to you!" He threatened them to Liliana's surprise. 

 However, the leader sneered and slapped heavily him on his face, the fat supervisor was shocked.

"Who the hell are you supposed to be?" 

The supervisor was confused as his eyes hot turned by the slap. He did not think that things would be this way. Liliana shook her head in frustration. 

“Just what did he drink in order to dare these idiots?” She thought inwardly. 

The supervisor got close to the leader, "What do you mean who am I? Don't you know me? Didn't your boss tell you?" 

Earlier, he had texted a gangster he knew. He wanted to hire some thugs to harass Liliana when she goes out with Nicola. 

Then he would step forward bravely and save Liliana, to show his braveness and Nicola's weakness.But now what happened? The fat supervisor was confused. 

"What are you doing? Aren't I your boss?!" He mistakenly slipped out of confusion. 

They all looked at themselves and laughed. Then they pushed him on the floor and beat him up a bit. Liliana felt bad watching the supervisor. 

But she thought that he brought it upon himself. Nicola on the other hand just watched how the situation unfolds. 

The thug's leader stepped on his belly, "My boss is Scar! How dare you meddle in this? Just who do you think you are?" 

The supervisor's face changed, because they were not the thugs he found. And now he knows he has messed up already. 

Mr Larry begged saying "I think you all have got me wrong. I was just joking. It’s all a misunderstanding" 

The thugs leader sneered and asked loudly, "Is there anyone who wants to meddle in? No one wants to save him?" 

Everyone was silent. No one wanted their trouble probably so they all stayed away to save their own skins. 

The leader laughed loudly, "I guess no one wants to meddle. You should know that you are done for Mr. Larry." 

These thugs don't have any mercy at all. The supervisor is struggling in their midst. Everyone looked at him in pity but no one would dare meddle in it. 

But at this time, a calm voice came out to their surprise. 

“Let him go.”

The leader was first surprised when he heard the voice. But he sneered soon, he looked at the direction of the voice, it was Nicola who said that. 

He laughed with his underlings and walked into Nicola, "Do you want to be the hero?"
