It was dark and almost completely silent in a thick forest. The dry leaves rustled as the wind swept back and forth.

The footsteps of a masked stranger caused the ground to shake with violently rumbling sounds.

The stranger's appearance was smoothly concealed, as he was dressed in black like a ninja.

With both hands facing the quaking ground, he began to chant a spell;

"Arklash irvum sri"

The rumbling noises grew louder alongside the violent earthquake, until the ground cracked open.

A long sharp sword ascended from underneath the ground. It was almost completely covered by a visible mass of dark energy which seemed to disappear soon after the ground's cracks sealed close.

The loud rumbling noises suddenly ceased, and the forest became silent.

With nothing but an outstretched hand, the sword flew right into the stranger's hand.

He let out a silent gasp as he felt a rush of the sword's dark energy surge through his whole body.

"The legends are true...the sword really possesses great power."

He smirked.

He held the sword up while closely examining it. His eyes scanned the sharp silver blade as he ran his fingers through it.

"I'll use it to my advantage...to kill every human for what they did to my family."

A few years ago:

"Father! Mother...No!!!"

It was a dark night, and the atmosphere was filled with the mixed noises of loud wails and screams of excitement.

The darkness was swallowed by the intensely bright burning fire, while a crowd of people gathered round the fire.

A family of werewolves were being burnt alive by the same persons who stood to watch the burning fire.

Someone from amongst the crowd yelled:

"Yes! We did the right thing to get rid of them!"

"Who knew if they were planning to eat us like meat during a full moon or something?", another said.

"It's better they burn...and we'll kill any remaining one of them first before they kill us!"

A young girl who belonged to the family stood behind the crowd with teary eyes.

Sorrow and rage flooded her heart, as hot tears rolled down her eyes. She also witnessed her whole family as they got burnt alive

Her screams were neglected, until someone finally figured out that she was a part of the family.

"She's one of them!...their daughter is here!", yelled the man.

Without wasting any second, she took to her heels, tearing her way through the grasses in a forest which surrounded the remains of what used to be her home.

"Get her!!!"

A dozen of able bodied men zoomed into the forest in search of her. They spread into various parts of the forest, hoping to catch her soon.

She stopped running for a while, and scanned the whole forest with her sharp eyesight in search of a hiding place.

They almost got close to her, but she was smart enough to swiftly climb onto a tall tree using her sharp claws.

She remained silent while observing them from upon the tree. They all ran past her, and with a thud, she landed on her feet.

She exhaled deeply in relief.

Just about when she was going to turn away and keep running, she felt someone grab her from behind.

A hand was pressed over her mouth to dampen her screams. Her heart paced faster and faster as she could do nothing but struggle.

At the last minute, the stranger flicked his finger, sending her into an unconscious state. Then he teleported from the forest with her.

~ Daryn ~

The academy's freshmen were given a tour around the academy by a sophomore student whose name was Xiaohye.

Xiaohye was a really nice student whose elegance depicted her super intelligent status.

She took us around the academy, showing us places like the cultivation museum, training room and the room of magical things.

I paid close attention to everything she said about the academy. While  maintaining silence, I was hoping to eventually become friends with someone as smart as her.

My gaze shifted from her every time I felt like we would have an eye contact with each other.

Yeah, I was stealing a gaze at her.

She was still explaining stuff about the academy;

"The academy consists of seven supernatural categories. They are: witches, wolves, sirens, vamps, dreamers, fairies, and phoenixes.

"Each supernatural has their ranks, but the phoenixes always remain the strongest...then the witches come next.

Long ago, the most powerful class of supernaturals were the mages. But after the war between us and humans, only one mage exists...that's our dean."

We remained silent for a while as we trailed down the hallways of the museum of ancient magical artefacts.

As usual, I had a question in mind to ask, but I couldn't bring myself to speak amongst the crowd.

Just when I was about to summon some courage to speak up, Zora cut in;

"Does this mean that no other mage would ever exist?", she asked.

I remained in awe, wondering how she knew the exact question I wanted to ask, just like it happened earlier.

Meanwhile, Xiaohye scoffed at the question.

"The possibility of having another mage except the dean is very tiny...there will be no other mage", she answered.

She stopped walking, and everyone did too. We were standing in the common room, where we first began the tour an hour ago.

"I think this marks the end of our tour...there'll be an orientation for freshmen tonight, and y'all are expected to appear there looking nice", she announced.

"I'll tell you a basic spell to teleport you back to your dorms. "

"Dar Juvrah"

My eyes were closed. I don't know why I shut them before she said the spell.

I opened them to realize that I didn't teleport like the others, even after repeating the spell exactly how she said it.

Once again, I felt very disappointed and I looked down in shame as Xiaohye kept on staring at me in disbelief.

"Why didn't you teleport like others?"

"Did you not say the spell?", she asked.

"I-I don't know...I repeated the spell, but it didn't work", I replied.

She wore a light smile on her face, which made me feel even more embarrassed.

"It happens...you'll get it next time", she encouraged me.

'I hope so', I thought.

Suddenly, I heard someone shouting.

"Xiaohye!...is this freshman bothering you?"

A guy called out to her.

His intimidating stare met with mine. I felt a bit frightened, and the memories of how I got bullied at school flashed through my mind.

Judging from the guy's silver uniform, I could tell that he was a wizard. It was also obvious that Xiaohye belonged to his coven, since she also wore a silver uniform.

I needed to leave sooner, to prevent things from getting messy.

"Um...I'm sorry, but I think I should leave now. I wasn't bothering her though", I said.

As I was about to turn away, he closed this left fist, releasing a bright glow of golden energy to surround me.

I guess it was a restriction spell, and he used it to keep me from running away so quickly.

"Not so fast kiddo...", he said.

"I noticed how you kept on staring at her. Xiaohye is my girlfriend, and next time I catch you staring in such a lustful manner again, I'll break your neck."

Xiaohye rolled her eyes and sighed. She was obviously annoyed by her boyfriend's behavior.

"C'mon Lin, stop being so childish...he's just a freshman who didn't get the basic teleportation spell cus this is his first time", she said before walking away.

I refused making eye contact with him, since I was really frightened at the moment.

"Such a loser...if he can't even get such a basic spell right, I wonder what he's gonna get right in the academy", Lin jibed.

She looked so gorgeous to behold in the purple sleeveless dress she wore. The unique purple shades of her eyes were seen for the first time, since she wasn't wearing her purple glasses. Her long ebony black hair was neatly pulled into a bun, with only but a few curls left to fall freely. I snapped back to my senses immediately I felt Daemon's hand on my shoulder.
