Honourable Endeavour

Sarah ran...

She ran with everything she had towards her granny's stall.

The thought of what happened just now remained within her bionic circuits, those people are dead... not only the ones that threatened her life and her freedom but also, the ones that had nothing to do with it.

And she's the cause, it might be indirect, but she's the cause.

The matter is already in the news even though it happened an hour ago.

"Granny!"

When she caught a glimpse of her grandmother, the beauty released a sigh of relief and Rachel too ran to hug her granddaughter.

She had received the news in her interface, and she knows that the bus is the one that Sarah takes to come to Barnet from high school... she had been worried the entire time.

Today was a splendid day, there were many customers, a total of thirty and many people in need were fed, but still, every bit of satisfaction she had perceived was washed down the drain when she heard that report half an hour ago.

The two hugged each other tightly and Sarah even sobbed, she had been so scared when those bastards mentioned her granny, that would have been the worst thing ever, to have her granny implicated in things that were her fault.

"I'm so happy you're okay my dear, I thought you were on that bus... that's usually the one you take."

!!!

"T-That... granny, yes... I saw the explosion." Even if for the sake of not worrying her granny, she'd lie.

'What am I going to say?! '

Sarah doesn't know why she is still alive and kicking, honestly.

"Where is Morpheus?!" That's the only thing she wants to know right now, he must have an explanation for this... those weird gimmicks of his, surely he had something to do.

"Ah... he left earlier today, I don't know, he should be coming soon, help me take the stall, I was so worried I forgot to prepare it."

The two of them prepared the stall and remained two hours later waiting for him, even as far as 10:00 pm.

But he didn't come.

'Could something have happened to him too?' Sarah wondered and looked at her granny that was visually worried.

"Let's go home, granny... this late at night I don't think he's going to come here anymore... he will go straight to the house." With how much care Morpheus has for her grandma, there is the likelihood something serious happened.

"B-But"

"It's too late, granny... we can't stay more than this, it's dangerous." As worried as she is too, they have to leave, Morpheus too wouldn't want them to stay this late.

The night is for the wolves, she knows.

"..." Rachel was reluctant but eventually had to relent to her granddaughter's wishes.

**

**

Back through the day, Morpheus had been doing some other, things...

...

Within the barnet district department police station, after a brief meeting with the United Kingdom's department of justice, two individuals stood upfront.

"It was a brilliant execution performed by you, Officer Null." Within the department police station, two individuals met face to face.

Two prominent officers in charge of public security.

Officer Richardson.

Officer Null.

Candidates to become the be the Chief of the Metropolis' Police.

The two of them had been lucky enough to have recent achievements in the improvement of security in the city.

Officer Richardson, despite the fact that the Bank of England was still plundered, managed to take a hold of a logic bomb, an instrument that could aid authorities into the addresses of those involved with the Red Blood Gang, giving the state the chance to trace their cells.

Meanwhile, Chief Null had directly destroyed an entire gang hangout that remained concealed within an office building for the longest while, not only that but her 'unit' also took down dozens of their members in action, freeing several hostages and also taking holes of at least three tones of ecstasyIV together with illegal unauthorized enhancement and weaponry.

Moreover, there is record 'proof' of her involvement and the entire operation that took place.

Between the two, it needn't be said who has given the most contributions.

The silver-haired, silver-eyed beauty with police clothes crossed her arms beneath her sizable chest, further enticing the corrupt bastard in front of her.

"Officer Richarson... it was nothing, I have followed the Red Blood Gang's traces for months..."

"I have seen the recording of the events that took place within the building, I must say, I'm surprised that Officer Null has managed to assemble such a responsible and efficient task force in private..."

Within the 'recording' one could see several of the department's officers dressed in tactical clothes actively fighting the gang.

The problem is, he had no knowledge whatsoever of this task force, but all the involved ones have been questioned and have accepted the claims and even showed visual proof of their own, all of them totally legit with no software edition whatsoever.

Despite the fact that Officer Null acted of her own volition, with such a marvellous accomplishment, no one dares to take action against her.

"That's naturally because we don't know whether our own companions are loyal to our organisation or not, it's always better to have a card up your sleep, wouldn't you agree, Officer Richardson? there are a lot of crooks within our organisation, we don't want them to move a step ahead of us, right?" The woman's lips curled up at her own proposition.

And aside from some tickling eyebrows, the man could only 'nod' in agreement.

"If you may excuse me, I still have some other matters to attend to..." Fixing her hat and jacket, the bombshell turned heels and left the police department, moving to the parking lot where her vehicle was.

Within the city of London, only authorised vehicles are allowed to set flights.

Anti-gravitational technology has been a trend for dozens of years, however, a minimal test of what the 'flight-freedom' could accomplish left a total of three collapsed buildings after terrorist and revolutionary intents... giving the parliament no more option than to 'prohibit' the use of flying devices for common citizen within the limitations of the city.

Such is not the case for different parts of the country.

As a police officer with a higher rank, she's one of the people with such a privilege.

The beauty wore heels, panty socks and a skirt that barely covered her butt, a white shirt with nice cleavage and a jacket hanging loosely from her shoulders.

Laying down seductively, provoking the officers nearby to swallow a small mouthful, get got inside her vehicle and closed the doors.

"Sorry for the wait, Zekron..." She threw her hat to the other seat in the vehicle and it fell on something invisible.

"Oh...?" A voice spoke with interest within the car as the hat moved back and forth on its own.

"I'd be damned if I can't detect the difference in weight within my own vehicle... I'm connected to it through my interface." She started the car and prepared to set off.

"Impressive, Officer Null... to think that you managed to catch the entire gang on your own and even have a 'visual' record of it." the camouflage disappeared to give way to the handsome young man she had met before, the one that has remained within her circuits.

"Thank you, Morpheus... do you fancy a cup of tea? I can take you to a store nearby." She considers at this stage there is no need for secretism, curling her lips up she flew through the city, looking for a 'Stardust'.

"No need... I was just watching, how did you pull all of this up?" He obviously refers to the video, to the witnesses, even the 'officers' that participated.

"You have your secrets and I have mine... and if you want to know mine, then you have to lay down yours on the table~" She gave him a sidelong glance and then a little wink before continuing on her way, he might not be up to the tea, but she is.

"What happened with the V2 'insurgents' you were going to capture before?" He inquired, rather amused at the entire ploy.

"Isn't it obvious? unfortunately, they escaped... If you don't want to have tea, I do... so how about we head to Madame Rachel's place?"

<Soul Search>

Before she could speak any further, he used his soul search on her because he wanted to know a single thing, how does she relate with Hana?

They look the same, but he dares to say that Null is more mature physically.

As if she's just an older Hana, for one he thought she's either her sister or mother.

But once again, the search gave nothing away, this time it's even worse.

He couldn't help but frown, no soul?!

"What do you have to do with Hana, Null...?" Yet another big question to consider within his mind.

"..." Officer Null furrowed her brows slightly at the question.

"I..."

'You have a mission V2|N'

'So quickly? V2|H just came back from Walthamstow.'

'It's a special mission... as you know we have the codes to enter Brighton's central energy reactor...'

'I know... but there is nothing for us to do there.'

'...'

No words were conveyed for a minute in which Morpheus regarded her face contort into many shapes, consideration... reluctance.

It doesn't make sense, mostly due to the fact that he has already checked... she doesn't have a soul.

...

'You should know what's going to happen after today... you involved yourself too much in Barnet, V2|N'

'... I understand.'

...

"Morpheus, you said as long as I answered your questions, you'd become V2's ally? correct?" The vehicle stopped in its tracks, there is no need to go to Stardust anymore.

"Can you speak openly of these matters within this vehicle?" So far he has seen everyone's movements are being scrutinized at every corner, he doesn't believe an officer such as her won't be investigated within her car.

"You don't need to worry about that, yes or not?" Her silvery eyes locked his clear brown ones, something seemed to have changed within her, something that he couldn't point out.

"As long as you can tell me what's causing this world to crumble, I will indeed assist your organisation so long as I deem you worthy." He declared, obviously, if they're the ones causing this destruction, he's not going to aid them... he's going to destroy them.

"Very well, I just so happen to have a mission that's deeply involved with your enquiry, come with me and assist me..." She pressed some buttons through her interface and the vehicle started to change colours and camouflage.

"Aren't the cameras going to see this?" The more she did things, the more he wanted to scrutinize her every action, because there is something deeply suspicious going on with this woman and her whole identity... secret agents? spies... he has seen lots, it's not a secret, but her... she's something else.

"When you're with me, you don't have to worry about 'cameras'... your answer?" Having finished her preparations, she awaited his words.

"Hmph! so cryptic... what is your noble endeavour this time, young one?" Earning the favour of a god is not a common matter, help those in need, he has done plenty of times... it's within his nature, o help a mortal with his endeavour? that's something different... he has to thoroughly check that her 'endeavour' is honourable and according to his sacred self.

...

"You will know once we're there." She answered and prepared to depart without even asking!

...

"That answer is not valid, do you know you are before a GOD!?" His eyebrow twitched at this woman's impudence.

!!!

Upon hearing his domineering words, she gaped, her silvery eyes opened like saucers and she stopped what she was doing.

"..." He awaited her reaction, she's the first 'person' he has told this to after all.

...

"I didn't know you were that mentally ill."

*COUGH!*
