Penelope emerged from her hiding spot, her face a mask of frustration and disbelief. As she confronted David about Marcus's refusal to cooperate, her expression twisted with anger and disappointment, knowing David didn't do enough to support his stand; he just allowed the bastard to walk away freely.

“This isn't acceptable.”

She declared vehemently, her voice edged with urgency.

“The little boy is becoming something else, and we need to break his wings; it can't continue like this anymore.”

David, sensing Penelope's agitation, nodded in reluctant agreement. Deep down, he harbored his own thoughts about Marcus, unable to shake the feeling of unease that had settled over him when he was talking with Marcus, and for some time now, something had changed about Marcus.

He seemed like a different person, despite his misleading appearance. Something isn't right about him.

David was forced to say it out loud.

“Something about Marcus has changed a lot; are you not noticing anything?”
