Chapter 008

Mr Luiz smiled. He couldn't agree more to the suggestion Marcus gave. He knew tomorrow would be so embarrassing for Marcus.

The more he thought of how bad Marcus would look, the wider his smile got.

Chantelle noticed how wide his grin was. She was concerned, but she still stood her ground.

What both of them did not know was that Marcus was less than bothered about what would happen tomorrow.

In fact, he could not wait. He could not wait to see all their expressions when they found out.

He felt so at ease. Is this how it feels to be rich, he wondered. It's true what they say then, Money does solve every problem.

Mr Luiz stood up, still grinning, “it's time for me to go. Marcus, don't be late tomorrow. We all can't wait for how you'll apologize tomorrow.”

“Alright then, Mr Luiz. My husband will be there tomorrow. I'll make sure of it.” Chantelle said.

Mr Luiz marched to the entrance, with Chantelle in tow. “Goodnight,” he said.

“Goodnight to you too, Mr Luiz.”

Chantelle walked back into the sitting room. She saw Marcus seated, looking unbothered.

She thought to make sure Marcus will go to work tomorrow. “Marcus, you'll be there tomorrow, right?”

“Yes, for sure. I won't miss it for nothing.”

“Also, don't shame me tomorrow. Be a man in anything you'll do, I've always told you that.”

“I know people will look at you anyhow, but you still have to apologize to Mr Luiz.”

“Do you remember when you last lost your job? I honestly don't want that to happen again. We both know how that went.”

Chantelle had been scolding Marcus since. He sat down while listening to his wife.

When she finished talking, Marcus stood up. “I told you not to worry. I'll be there for sure.” Marcus replied confidently.

“I'm going to sleep dear. Goodnight.” Marcus said as he walked out.

Chantelle saw a glint in his eyes. Confidence, though she had always seen this in Marcus before, it had been a while.

It got her wondering what changed. It doesn't matter, she thought.

That night, Marcus slept so well. It had been a while since he had had such a good sleep.

Though, tomorrow might seem serious, he could not find it in himself to worry about it.

Marcus woke up the next day. He donned his usual work apparel. “I'm going to work now, bye babe.” Marcus said.

“Alright. Don't forget not to put me to shame.” she replied.

Marcus walked out of his house. Anyone who knew him well before could tell he had changed. His walk and posture all seemed different at this moment.

Immediately he got out of his house, Marcus brought out his new phone.

He had already decided yesterday, he would call his sister and tell her about what was going to happen today.

“Good morning Juliet.”

“Good morning brother.” Juliet replied through the phone.

“I'm going to work already. I called to brief you about what happened yesterday at my house and what would happen today.”

“Luiz came yesterday and wanted me to apologize to him. I decided I was going to apologize to him today at work.” Marcus said.

“Nice. I see what you are planning to do.” One could hear the smile in Juliet's voice.

“Yes, it is what you think. I'm planning to teach all of them a lesson today. They will know they are some people they just can't bear to offend.” he said.

“Whatever you say is all good Marcus. I should get to the company. I can't wait to see all their faces,” she said while laughing.

“All right then, we will see soon then.’” Marcus cut the call.

Marcus had just walked out of his neighborhood, when a white Mercedes Benz pulled up near him.

He saw Huncho rush out of the vehicle. Marcus remembered him of course.

Marcus of course understood why the car did not get him at the front door.

He remembered his conversation with his sister the previous day.

Huncho rushed to open the passenger's side door. “Good morning young master,” he said. “Hope you slept well?”

“Like a baby,” Marcus replied as he got into the car.

Huncho rushed back into the car. “Young master, I want to apologize for what happened yesterday. I just…”

“Don't worry about it.” Marcus replied. “I understand that you were just trying to do your job.”

Huncho felt gratified. He was not going to lose his job, it seemed. His young master was not a fickle minded person it seemed.

He had had it at the back of his kind ever since yesterday.

When he heard Miss Juliet order him to act as the young master's driver for a while, he could not be any happier.

He knew it was a good chance to put in a good word for himself.

Surprisingly, it was not as difficult as he thought it would have been. His mindset about the character of Marcus slowly became really good.

He now believed that Marcus would be the right person to fit in the job as the new boss of the Krafth Empire.

The ride went surprisingly well for Huncho. He could tell his boss was preoccupied. He did not disturb him at all.

“This is okay Huncho.” Marcus said as soon as he saw that they would soon be getting to his workplace.”

He was still trying to maintain the fact that he was not yet rich.

Marcus got out of the car as soon as Huncho opened the door.

He walked the rest of the way to his workplace. He felt so energized.

This was what it felt like, to not walk that forty five minutes walk to his work every morning.

It was time, he thought, as he walked into the factory.

He knew Mr Luiz and his group of friends would be around already.

In fact, every other person would be around already.

Not because they always came that early. But because he was sure Mr Luiz would have found a way to spread the news to everybody before today.

The sight he saw when he got in did not disappoint him. Everything he thought was correct.

Marcus could feel everybody's eye on him as he walked to the manager's office.

They all started following him from being.

Everybody who bullied him before could be seen with a grin on his face.

“Another day to embarrass Marcus,’” one said.

Marcus could hear their voice in the background. He just acted as if they were non-existent.

Some of them got angry. He could now hear them clearly.

He could hear their mocking voices now.

“It's time to finally put him in his place,” they said.

“Who did he think he was, always acting as if he was better than anyone. Not even considering the fact that he has the worst job among all of us,” they all laughed.

“Mr Luiz is about to come out, let's all keep quiet and watch how this is going to go.”

True to that, Mr Luiz walked out of his office immediately Marcus got to the entrance with everyone else at his back.

Marcus could see Dominic, Espinoza and Burn out right after Mr Luiz walked out.

Suddenly, he felt a push from his back. What was happening, he thought.

He looked back as he was falling, he saw the wicked glint in the eyes of the people who pushed him to the floor.

Both of them were part of the workers in the factory.

“Now, get on your knees, and beg Mr Luiz,” one said.

“Apologize to him, maybe you won't be sacked,” the other said.

Marcus did not know how to feel about this. He just looked at them and shook his head.

It looked like they were about to burst in anger when they saw Marcus shake his head at them.

Both of them decided to keep calm and wait for Mr Luiz to pass judgment on Marcus after he apologized.

“Whatever happens today, just know we are going to beat you up after this,” one of them said to Marcus as he faced Mr Luiz.

Marcus just ignored them. He looked around him before he rested his gaze on Mr Luiz and his friends.

He smiled…
