ch13 Redemption

-Walter's pov:-

Our moments of silence was broken by a fired gunshot coming from far away in the woods.

"What was that?!" Asked Esper.

"A gunshot." Silas replied cold.

"Does that mean he's back?" Elijah asked already starting to panic.

"I don't think so, the gunshot came from far, far away. I think we're good for now. We'll need to get on the move though. The earlier we reach that car the higher our chances are of surviving." Silas replied.

I see we have a new leader. Didn't approve of it but whatever.

I knew the chances would lessen significantly due to the lack of vision. It would be so much better to hide and wait for the sun to appear.

With this leader we might as well all give up right now.

"How the hell do you think you'll find those cars without sunlight?" I asked.

Everyone seemed shocked I had just said a sentence.

"Well do you have a better idea?" Asked Silas bossy.

"What happens if I do?" I asked before answering.

"Might as well do your own thing while we do mine."

"In that case, no, I do not have a better plan than death."

"That's what I thought."

Little did they know I knew something they didn't.

I had a prefect view of a murderer sledging closer step by step.

"Wait, Silas!" I spoke to him.

"What?" He asked super bolt.

"May I see those keys? I know which ones from which car."

I asked it to get a hold of those keys before he'd die.

He gave the keys to me with a unsurprisingly big sigh.

I pretended to be inspecting the keys even though I had never seen either Adrien's or James's keys.

I looked up to Silas and noticed that the killer had moved so much towards us.

"Silas watch out behind you!" I yelled stepping aside knowing I had just made that murder go after Silas.

I got surprised as he slashed towards the other three though, I wasn't expecting that at all.

It caught me off guard but I managed to keep my head at the game.

It specifically went for what I'll be calling the weakest link of the group better known as Esper.

I gotta say for being the weakest link of the group he did have some reflexes but I knew he wasn't going to be good enough to get a hold of that trained assassin.

"Guys help!" He yelled knowing he wasn't gonna have control for very long.

Nope, definitely not going in there to help some lost cause, and apparently Jack was smarter than I thought he'd be.

He ran off deeper into the woods without even saying sorry to Esper. It's cruel but that's the kind of energy you'll need if you even wanna stand a chance in surviving.

I followed him and made Elijah come with us.

Listen if I wanna have a higher survival rate I can't leave everyone behind.

Although I had Elijah following me Silas didn't.

I thought he'd take his own initiative but he didn't.

Silas I swear if you have the audacity to not follow us you'll bring all of us more in danger.

-Esper's pov:-

I was still struggling trying to get the upper hand of this killer but I wasn't gonna gonna hold this long.

"Guys help!" I yelled desperate for some help.

I saw Jack running off without even hesitating to help or at the least say sorry.

Walter followed him and made Elijah come with him.

"Silas please!" I yelled knowing I only had a few seconds left of protection.

Silas charged at the killer and punched them across the face.

"That's for ruining our camp!"

He punched a second time.

"and That's for killing Tom!"

The figure tried to stab Silas right through his neck but Silas managed to catch the dagger with his bare hand.

The dagger went straight through his hand palm.

Silas was struggling resisting the pain in his hand.

Silas was right handed and the dagger had also been stabbed through his right hand so he had only his left hand left to protect himself with.

This is where I stepped in.

I kicked the figure in his back. Usually it would cause him to fall face first onto the ground giving us the upper hand of this situation but I had completely forgotten about Silas standing infront of the killer.

As I had predicted he fell forward. But the dagger still inside of Silas's hand had been pushed into his neck all because of me.

My eyes widened as the killer crawled up from Silas.

"I, failed. Sorry- sorry t- Tom."

Was the last thing Silas said before that killer brutally grabbed his dagger out of Silas's neck.

Blood spew from Silas's neck.

I didn't mean to. I swear I didn't mean to.

My luck wasn't with me as usual. So I wasn't even gonna hope on any other miracle.

I closed my eyes as I saw the killer walking towards me with his dagger.

The cold blade from the dagger was stabbed through my stomach.

It was an honor to be alive. And even though luck was never with me, I still made the best from it. And looking to my past for one last time made me realize, I was ready to die.

-Adrien's pov:-

"He's here." I heard Lola say.

I tried to counter my intrusive thoughts from my mind, I just couldn't.

This was my chance.

I suppose Lola was right, I heard the footsteps again.

It had been looking for us.

Lola stood up and listened to where his footsteps were coming from.

When she realized the sounds were coming from behind her it was so late.

A gun shot was fired startling everybody but me.

"This way!" Lola yelled as she ran the opposite direction from that killer.

It was the amount of zero people who followed her.

I was still doubting myself, Warren was too stunned and shocked to move a single muscle, Millie was waiting for me to come in action and if I'm gonna be honest I had zero clue why Jasper had a motive to stay still.

"Adrien come!" Millie yelled as she grabbed my wrist.

"I can't." I replied softly.

"What do you mean you can't?! Listen I'm sorry about what I said okay, it's just that I found myself under so much pressure and it slipped out."

"It's not only that Millie. I know you were mad but it had to come from somewhere. I get that you think it's my fault and scold me for it but I'm not letting you get back a second time after making that mistake. I don't have a reason to keep going, you do, so go."

"Adrien don't let it end like this. We can still fix things!"

"Adrien listen to him, we have to leave!" Yelled Warren before following Lola into the woods.

Now it was only me, Millie and Jasper.

In the corner of my eye I saw Jasper hiding behind some thick trees.

That left me and Millie.

"Please Adrien I'm begging you, I'm not prepared to lose you today."

I saw genuine tears falling from her eyes and it messed with me. She really did mean it didn't she?

But even though it shattered my heart into millions of pieces it wasn't gonna be enough. No matter how hard she'll try it'll never be good enough anymore.

I heard someone whistle. You could tell it was getting closer and closer by the second.

"Millie don't you understand?! I'm not ready to do this anymore. I never believed in always. But his eyes shone so brightly so I thought maybe, just maybe, he'd meant it."

"Adrien I get it but why give up. I get the grieving, I really do but you have to hold those thoughts just a little longer until you're safe."

"Don't tell me you know how I feel because you don't know anything!" I yelled completely encouraged by anger.

I could see a figure let's say about twenty feet away.

"I never said I feel anything because I don't Adrien. But I sure as hell will start feeling if I'm going to lose you too!"

"Millie go without me, you'll die too without Even wanting it."

"I'm not going anywhere without you Adrien! I refuse to leave anyone behind, not even you."

The man held his gun to my head but started to doubt.

I pushed Millie to the ground hoping she had learned her lesson.

"Do it! I fucking dare you!" I yelled right into his face.

He pulled the trigger.

Sometimes you'll need a break from reality. No matter how long you need it's fine, at least they say so.

I wanted mine to last forever. Even if it meant losing everything.

Oh wait, I've lost everything already. And now after all that time I'd finally get what I want.

Peace.
