Ivan was surprised at what Lucy said, if what she said was true then it would mean that her company would start tp grow well from then onwards.
You must know that for a big corporation could agree to invest in a small enterprise, it either meant that the small enterprise had limitless potential or it has many connections.
In Lucy's case, it was both possibilities.
Actually, Ivan was happy for her, but when he remembered how she got her connections, he froze.
Lucy thought that he was feeling bad about himself, her pride rose and his expression stroked her ego. Lana could already guess what was going on, but she sighed.
The truth was that she really liked Ivan, he was a caring husband and also very polite but he was useless and there was nothing Lana could do to help someone like him.
"Lucy, did you get your connection by sleeping around?" Ivan suddenly asked with a tremble to his voice and Lucy's face changed drastically before flaring up.
"Ivan, how dare you? Do you want to ruin my image? Oh! because you saw that I am about to make a name for my self, you want to drag me down? How can you be so despicable? I already said that I do not want this marriage anymore, why are you making things difficult for the both of us? If you were also a successful person, do you think that I would have to work hard like this? Now, you want to destroy all the hardwork? You are an ingrate animal."
Even Mr Ben and the new maid stared at Ivan with disgust and displeasure, they saw him as a useless husband at first but now, as a despicable person that does not want the success of others when he is not successful, Lana was the only one that did not have that expression.
She was Lucy's manager and she knew what Lucy had to do to get to where she waa today. She felt that it was a little bit unfair to Ivan but she did not care that much.
Ivan smiled bitterly when he saw their expressions, he had guessed that they would not believe him, who would believe a useless good for nothing man like him? He had no status, no power, just nothing while Lucy was like a Phoenix, waiting for an opportunity to spread her wings and fly away into the vast land.
But still, he would not agree to the divorce. Since, she wanted to step down on him, he would also hinder her way.
"No matter what you guys say, I will never agree to this divorce." He said and went upstairs with large strides. He ignored Lucy's cuss at him and walked away.
Lucy felt indignant, she knew that if Ivan does not agree, then she would not be free, she turned to look at Mr Ben with a pleading gaze.
"Miss Lucy, you will have to convince him to agree because there is nothing I can do to help. If you have anything to ask or tell me, you have my contact." Mr Ben wanted to help but his hands were tied so he could only leave.
Lucy clenched her fists and glared at the direction Ivan walked into before taking her car keys and leaving the house with her Assistant in tow.
...Ivan sat at the edge of the bed and thought about what happened earlier, he had lost so many things in just one night and now, he was about to lose his wife completely.
The only thing he could do now, was to refuse to sign the papers, he might be useless but he also had his pride, he did not want to be cast aside.
He was like this for hours before he suddenly heard a familiar voice calling his name from downstairs. He was startled at first, but he quickly tidied himself up and rushed downstairs.
He saw a middle-aged man and a middle-aged woman, the woman had similar looks to that of Lucy, they were both sitting comfortably on the couch and when they saw Ivan, they simply nodded.
They were Lucy's parent, Mr and Mrs Anderson.
Mrs Anderson was carrying a Gucci bag and her dress had a logo on it, it was the logo of a top fifty designer company. Her personality could be seen by the way she carried herself.
Proud and pretentious. A show off.
"Mom, Dad, you are here." Ivan was very polite. He had been hoping that Lucy's parent would acknowledge him for years and he had been trying to gain their approval, so he was used to being polite to them.
The both of them did not reply but Ivan also did not mind, they've always been like this.
"What should I get for you? Water or what? Jasmine!!!" Ivan got to know the maid's name earlier, but she only answered at the fourth call with an impatient look on her face.
"What?" Her tone was not respectful in any way and it made Ivan flushed in anger. She was not giving him face at all.
When Jasmine saw that it was the guests that called for her, her tone became polite and she walked over with a respectful smile.
"Did you call for me? I have already started making Dinner for you, do you need me to do something else for you?"
Ivan was already gnashing his teeth together at the humiliation but he could only endure it, Lucy was the one that employed Jasmine not him so he had no say.
"Bring some fruits for me, you can go." Mrs Anderson waved her hand proudly and dismissed Jasmine.
Ivan quickly became attentive when Mrs Anderson turned to him, he was feeling very uneasy but he forced himself to be calm.
"Lucy said that you did not sign the papers, why is that?" She asked and Ivan's countenance stiffened. He wanted to talk but he choked back on his words.
"Mom..."
"I am not your Mom, are you blind? Don't you recognize your Mother? I have told you times without number not to call me that." She said calmly and Ivan lowered his head while trembling subtly.
It turned out that they...they were really here for that.
Actually, Ivan already knew but he still hoped that it was not so.
"These are the divorce papers, sign them and we will forget all your wrongdoings" Mr Anderson brought out the divorce papers and put it on the table.
"It is simple, you do not deserve my precious daughter. Even if you still get together with her, you will never get our approval." Mrs Anderson said in irritation. She felt that her daughter's taste in men some years ago was really worst.
Ivan could not even afford a designer cloth or buy a luxurious car, he was even dressed like a beggar.
Ptttf, disgusting.
Ivan stood rooted on the same spot without talking, their gazes fell on him and he felt as if he was been poked by countless needles. The discomfort was dull but it lingered.
"Did you think that we just freezed Lucy's account just for nothing? We knew how despicable you could be so we feeezed her account so that you won't live off her. But we still underestimated you, even after freezing her account, she was still the one feeding the family with her small enterprise company, are you not ashamed? Ivan, are you even a man?" Mrs Anderson questioned, her pitch getting higher and louder until it became a shriek."Ivan, I had wanted to accept the relationship with my daughter after she gave birth to your child, but when I also heard that the boy had died due to your carelessness, I was utterly disappointed. You are not worthy of my daughter from the beginning and you are even worse now, you are not even worthy of carrying her bathroom slippers." Mr Anderson also said, he was calm and collected but the rage in his eyes showed how much anger he was feeling right then.Ivan could not talk, it was not like he does not have anything to say but that he could not open
The divorce issue was finally settled, Mr and Mrs Anderson could not help but beam."Now, our daughter will be able to get a good man to marry." Ivan, who was already on his way upstairs nearly stumbled when he heard what Mrs Anderson said. He could not help but wondered if they knew that Lucy had cheated on him.But so?Even if they knew, Ivan was sure that they would dismiss it and he would also be blamed for it. Helpless, he could only keep quiet. Now, he was not staying in Lucy's house as her husband anymore, but as a servant because he had to work for staying here. He had been reduced to such a state. That was not right, he was never something from day one....In the evening, Ivan left his room and went downstairs. He has been on his bed, trying to sleep and forget everything that happened but he could not. He must have woken up six times. It was a futile tussle of conflicting and complicated thoughts. He had wished to sleep it all off and wake up to the refreshing sunlight bu
Ivan ignored the two people who bypassed him and went back to sleep on the couch. He did not want to sleep in the guest room beside the master's bedroom. Ivan was still perambulating around when he heard a moaning sound from upstairs. It was loud, and it was obvious that Lucy was not trying to control her voice. It was unknown whether she did it intentionally or not. He stopped walking for a while, clenched his jaws, and then lay on the couch with his back, staring at the ceiling. ... The morning rays flooded into the room through the drawn curtains, shimmering on the surface of the glossy tiles. The drawn curtains fluttered with the early morning wind, casting flowing shadows on the ground as they moved, giving the room a surreal vibe. Ivan squinted his eyes open at this point, his eyelids droopy, and looked around the sitting room with his groggy eyes, as if confused about where he was. After a while, his eyes regained clarity, and he stood up, then walked towards the stairs
Ivan glanced at Charles from the corner of his eye before leaving the room, his mind swirling with different thoughts. The moment he left, Charles stared at his retreating back and took his phone from the table beside the bed, dialing a number."You know what to do, right? Just ruin his day for me. Contact those small companies since he could only work there with his talent. I want to see him defeated," he said, grinning before disconnecting the call.Lucy glanced at him and the direction Ivan had left with a thoughtful gaze before smiling. With that, they both entered the covers, and soon after, Lucy's sultry voice rang out.Of course, all this was unbeknownst to Ivan, who had already left.He knew that if he wanted to be free, he needed to get a job first. If he had a good pay, Lucy might also start to take him seriously, she might even accept him back.Ivan knew that he could not forget about Lucy just like that. He knew that he was being ridiculous, but he believed that if he work
"Sir, isn't this the person we were told not to hire just this morning?" the man in the blue suit exclaimed after multiple checks, and Ivan's heart skipped a beat.'It couldn't be right? There must have been a mistake or a mix-up,' he thought inwardly while clenching his fists."Really? Bring it and let me see." The man in the seat ordered solemnly, and the man in the blue suit did not waste time and quickly handed Ivan's CV and his phone over. The man in the seat went through it, and his face darkened gradually. He dropped the CV and the phone before raising his head to look at Ivan with an incredulous look on his face.He was quiet for a while, and his face turned expressionless."I'm sorry, but we can't employ you," he said simply, and Ivan's face fell. They had decided to employ him but changed their mind at the last minute. Could it be that it was Charles? Or... Jack?Ivan was stunned, but he could not let this chance slip from his hands."Sir, you saw my CV, right? I have the qu
Ivan's eyes turned red when he saw Charles. Charles looked totally different from how casual he had been that morning. At that moment, he was wearing a black tuxedo, his black hair was combed back, and his suit was without wrinkles. On his hand was a limited Rolex watch, the crown had a fluted design and two dots beneath it.Ivan might not have seen it before, but he recognized it because he had seen its image on the web and knew how expensive it could be.And the ironic fact was that he could never afford it, no matter how hard he worked. The man beside him also seemed to be a wealthy figure, but he looked slightly older than Charles, seemingly in his early forties.Charles also saw Ivan at that moment and gave him a smile filled with mockery."Mr Ivan, there is no vacancy, so please leave," the receptionist said slowly, and Ivan turned to look at her. His face was calm, but his clenched fist betrayed his inner turmoil."Why? Is it because of him?" he asked with a deep voice, pointin
Lucy parked her car hurriedly in the garage and rushed into her room. She had forgotten a very important contract file at home, so she had to rush alone without her assistant in tow.Lana did not know where Lucy kept the documents, so she stayed behind with the client while Lucy rushed home.Lucy went into her room and rummaged through her drawer for a while. Finally, she found the documents she was looking for, took them, and left the room.At that moment, the door to her apartment opened, and the disheveled Ivan walked in, looking exhausted. She was startled at first, but when she saw how Ivan looked, she scrunched her nose together and frowned."Yuck! You stink like a mackerel. Where the fuck are you coming from? Look at you, you look so dirty like a beggar. You should take a look at yourself in the mirror. You are so disgusting." Lucy did not hold back with the insults at all.She enjoyed insulting Ivan a lot.Ivan was stunned speechless, but he could not refute her. He knew that
Lucy stood stunned, her eyes dilated as she took in the sight of the stained documents and the anxious-looking Ivan. She blinked and glanced back and forth between Ivan and the documents, her expression gradually changing each time.Passing workers, eager to witness the drama, paused to watch. Some snickered to themselves while others whispered to each other, their voices loud enough for Lucy and Ivan to hear."He's become our boss's servant, can you believe it? Hahaha.""But isn't our boss too mean? Aren't they a couple?""Shh, where did you hear that? They're already divorced.""Oh, that explains it.""He's ruined the documents, and the clients are here to notarize them. How will she fix this?""And it's a big contract. What if the representatives get angry? I hope they don't back out.""Are you blind? Can't you see the documents are ruined? There's nothing left to notarize. You must be joking.""Our boss is foolish. How could she entrust something so important to such a useless man
