Divorce

“Looks like my day has come to meet you. Besides, we also have some previous things we have to talk about.” A smirk appeared on Dorian’s face as he thought about the reaction Emily would show after seeing Dorian like this.

Dorian drove to the house where he used to live with Emily after he got married to her.

Dorian had been honest with her all along and never lied to her that he had a lot of money or anything like that, but Emily never cared about him saying that and just shrugged it off.

He thought that maybe she really loved him, that's why she didn't even care if he had money or not.

Sitting there in his car, he suddenly had a flashback and all the scenes of him with his wife started running in his mind.

FLASHBACK:

After finishing his last class of the day, Dorian dragged himself out of class. As he was walking in the corridor, he saw Emily standing there at a distance. Seeing Dorian, she widely smiled at him and waved her hand at him like she was standing there waiting for him.

Putting his bag up on his one shoulder, Dorian walked towards her.

"Hey, Mr. Would you like to have some ice cream with me?" Emily had her both arms beside her as she gave him a wide smile.

"Sure, miss." Dorian, too, laughed at her cute way of asking.

Both of them then went to the cafeteria of the college and ordered some ice cream.

"So Mr. I heard you like me too now." She had a hint of mischievousness on her face.

"Yeah, I do, but I also know that you are way out of my league. I am just a poor, broke boy while you are the prettiest and wealthiest girl of college who everyone wants to date." Dorian scratched the back of his head, feeling sad and embarrassed.

Although he was embarrassed saying that, he just agreed with it because it was a fact.

Hearing that, Emily immediately said back, "You keep saying to me that you are broke, but I don't really believe you. You're just trying to impress me with your "mysterious" act. I know that."

"No, really Emily. I don't have much money. I'm just a struggling guy trying to make ends meet."

Emily chuckled as she reached across the table to touch his hand.

"Well, Mr. Mysterious and Broke, you have already caught my attention. Money isn't everything, you know? What matters is the person who is with you and I want you." Dorian could see sincerity in her eyes and for a moment, he felt like his heart would jump out of his chest and run away from there.

Emily, on the other hand, thought, 'I am sure he is trying to make himself that poor guy just to check if I want him for his money or not. Thank God I already did a background check on him, so I didn't fall for this trap. Seeing the look on his face, I think he already fell for my words. I should try more.'

Dorian looked into her eyes, he was still captivated by her sincerity and kindness. He began to think that maybe she really liked him; she didn't really care about his financial status.

'OMG! I feel like I am the luckiest guy in the whole world.' Dorian had tears in his eyes as he thought about that.

"You really mean that, don't you?" He asked her again, still not believing the fact that the goddess in front of him was proposing to him.

"Of course, I do. I've always believed that love is way bigger than wealth. And besides, we can figure things out later and that too together. So don't worry about these things yet and just focus on me."

The sincerity in her words fills Dorian's heart with hope. In that moment, he believed that maybe, just maybe, he had found someone who truly valued him and didn't see him as a bastard.

FLASHBACK ENDED.

Dorian sighed. "How naïve I was to think that she really loved me and wanted me."

Realizing that he had already reached his destination, he parked the car in front of Emily's house and got out of the car.

The house he once used to call home. Now everything felt unknown to him. Even though the house wasn't that huge, it was comfortable to live in. Emily's father gifted her that house when she married Dorian.

He too thought that Dorian was a rich boy, just acting like he was poor.

Emily was already standing outside and saw Dorian coming in a luxurious car and in decent and expensive clothes. She was extremely shocked. Her face became red and bloated. She didn’t know how Dorian got all this.

"What the hell is he doing here now? And acting all rich now?" Emily rolled her eyes as she made her way to him.

'She really is a gold digger. Instead of looking at me, she is looking at that car.' Dorian rolled his eyes too at her.

Dorian now had more money and wealth than the person for which she had abandoned Dorian. She felt a combination of anger and envy.

“What are you doing here?” Emily asked Dorian in a furious voice.

Dorian was no longer a weak person. He was now strong and confident. He decided to give a shut-up call to Emily.

“Shut up. I only came here to break all ties with you.” Dorian retorted at Emily furiously.

Emily was taken aback by his sudden outburst. She was speechless and had nothing to say in response.

Emily was confused and shocked. She was eager to know how Dorian got all this.

“Do you have any explanation of how you got all this?” Emily taunted Dorian.

“I don’t owe you any explanation” Dorian was silent for a few seconds, trying to find the right words to say. He looked at Emily, sighed, and said to her.

Emily was not able to believe anything that was happening at that time. She thought that he was trying to fake it all.

Dorian saw the disbelief in Emily's eyes and he knew that he had to speak up. He looked into her eyes and said, “I swear I'm telling the truth”.

“I know your reality. These things would not work on me,” she asked Dorian with a firm voice.

"You have to prove it to me," she said to Dorian.

“You have all things in front of your eyes. You just don't want to accept it,” Dorian asked in a firm voice.

She looked away and sighed. "I see what you mean," she said quietly. "But I still need proof before I can accept it."

Emily thought that he was trying to impress her to win her again, but Dorian was very firm towards his ambitions. He was clear in his mind what he wanted to do. Emily was taken aback by his determination and started looking at him differently. She realised that he had grown since they last met.

“I just want to get rid of you, that's why I have come here”. Dorian told Emily, as she was stunned.

Emily was surprised to hear this, but she knew that Dorian was serious. She was moved by his courage and dedication, and she started to understand why he had come back.

“Thank god you came here yourself, otherwise I was going to call my lawyer and go through legal procedures. I know it would be a tough decision to divorce me but you don’t really have a choice now, do you?” Emily mocked him.

A wide smirk appeared on her face, but it soon disappeared as she heard what Dorian said to her next.

“How delusional are you? You think I would still want a gold digger like you? You are nothing in my eyes now and my love for you died the moment I saw you with that man in that house. You are nothing but a bitch.” Dorian put pressure on his last words so that she can register each and every word he said to her in her brain.

He spat those words at her with so much venom in his tone that for a moment she was taken back. She was expecting him to come at her and beg for her love again but the story here was going different.

Instead of begging her, he was throwing her away himself.

‘Where did he find this new courage from? He never spoke to me like this before.’

Emily gritted her teeth and now finally spoke back, “How dare you?”

Taking some steps towards him, she looked at him directly in his eyes, “You are nothing but a bastard wanted by no one. I let you stay here with me and let you enjoy such a luxurious life while instead of being thankful, you are calling me a gold digger? Bloody bastard. A child of a slut like you doesn't even deserve to stand in front of me.”
