Chapter 8

After the tension-filled decision at the civil registry office was finally carried out, Gibson and Kiara were officially separated.

There was no more connection or attachment between the two of them.

"Congratulations on your breakup, Darling!"

Calista wore a wide smile on her beautiful face. Without hesitation, Calista deliberately planted a kiss on Gibson's right cheek.

She knew this would further ignite Kiara's jealousy every time she saw it.

"Darling," Hans called out from behind his girlfriend.

"What's the matter?!" Kiara snapped, her focus still on Gibson and Calista, causing her to unintentionally berate her boyfriend. "Oh, Darling... that's not what I meant. I'm sorry."

Hans shook his head slowly, puzzled by his girlfriend's behavior.

"You're not feeling jealous, are you?" Hans asked, seeming to understand the meaning behind her actions.

"Of course not, Darling. How could I possibly be jealous of them? That's impossible," Kiara emphasized, not wanting her boyfriend to misunderstand.

Hans distanced himself from her. Kiara, trying to appease him, seemed almost desperate.

Calista, observing this, smirked condescendingly.

In her mind, a good and perfect man like Gibson should not be hurt by a woman like Kiara who liked to play with emotions.

Calista's thoughts were unclear, but she seemed satisfied when she saw Kiara getting upset when she was close to Gibson.

That woman deserved some sort of punishment for what she had done.

"Are you okay now?" Calista asked, looking at the man who still seemed engulfed in sadness.

His mouth and facial expression didn't show his sorrow, but Calista could clearly see it in his eyes, the pain in his heart right now.

Who wouldn't be hurt seeing their trusted wife involved with another man?

It would be better to have just two-timed and then gone far away from his life. But these two wicked individuals were still in the same place where Gibson was, not to mention their habit of belittling and underestimating him.

Anyone would be hurt by everything that had happened.

"Why do you need to be sad anymore? A woman like her doesn't deserve a husband like you, Gibson. You're worth everything and shouldn't be owned by such a lowly woman," Calista assured the man.

Gibson's gaze, once fixed straight ahead, now shifted towards Calista. He seemed to be looking deep into her eyes.

"You can't be weak like this. I'm sure you have a clear purpose and desire. Don't think about anything else. You deserve to be happy and have the right to choose a new life," Calista emphasized her words.

Every word that formed that sentence appeared to influence Gibson's thoughts.

Gibson nodded in agreement with every word that had come out of Calista's mouth.

"You're right, Calista. I shouldn't be thinking about this. I need to prove to Kiara that I can be happy with my current choice and move on from her."

Calista gave Gibson two thumbs up. She then reached for the bag hanging on her shoulder, took out her phone, and checked every message on it.

"Hmm... what's going on? Is something happening?" Gibson asked when he noticed Calista's focused expression on her phone.

Calista, hearing Gibson's words, turned to look at him. She then showed her phone to him.

From outside, the room's door opened again. A pastor, dressed in his distinctive clergy attire, entered while holding a Bible in his hand.

"I've asked my assistant to bring you some clothes. There's a changing room over there. We can use it," Calista said, already prepared.

Everyone in the room shifted their attention to the newly arrived pastor, who stood on the pulpit. It seemed like a wedding was about to take place there, but none of them knew whose wedding it was.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Kiara was still trying to convince her lover. Anyone could tell that Kiara was clearly unhappy upon discovering her husband's connection with someone as famous as Calista.

"I'm sorry, Honey. I just didn't like the way that woman was looking at me. I know she's a top celebrity, but that doesn't mean she can look down on me like that," Kiara explained, now accusing Calista of being the mastermind behind it all.

There's always an excuse used as self-defense by women. Clearly, she doesn't want to be blamed.

Five minutes passed, Kiara, who initially tried to persuade Hans to talk to her, fell silent as she heard the applause from the crowd.

Both Hans and Kiara simultaneously shifted their gaze, following the direction of the commotion that had taken over the room.

Adorned in a bone-white gown and holding a bouquet of roses, Calista walked gracefully toward the impromptu altar.

"What is she doing? Is she trying to put on a new act here?" Kiara muttered with a mocking smile. But a thought crossed her mind: if Calista was dressed as a bride, then who was her groom?

Quickly, Kiara turned her head towards the back. Right by the officiant, a well-dressed man with a perfectly tailored shirt stood beside the priest.

"Gibson?!" Kiara gasped, realizing that her ex-husband was about to marry someone as high-profile as Calista.

A perfect smile adorned Calista's face as she reached the altar, facing Gibson directly.

The officiant then directed them to gaze into each other's eyes first.

"Do you feel nervous, Gibson?" Calista whispered softly.

Gibson looked at Calista intently and nodded slightly.

"Never doubt it. We share the same strong purpose. Everything we do is to achieve our individual desires. Together, we are stronger. With both of us, we'll easily conquer it all," Calista assured him, easing his tension.

The officiant proceeded with the marriage vows, and everyone in the room, including Kiara and Hans, witnessed the union of Gibson and the famous Calista.

Just as the applause celebrated their official status as husband and wife, Gibson appeared somewhat awkward, but Calista's gaze reassured him.

Gibson then leaned in, planting a deep kiss on Calista, even though their marriage was a contractual agreement they had intentionally entered into.
