Chapter 5

Dason, who had managed to master himself, of course, did not fall for Ella's trap. Dason slowly released Ella's hand on his neck and took a few steps away from Ella's body. He then turned his body, intending to get out and leave the shirtless Ella.

"Hey, where are you going Dason?!" asked Ella half shouting when she saw Dason had almost reached the exit.

"Home!" replied Dason briefly.

Ella again urgently asked Dason where he was going home, because he was annoyed Dason answered that he was going home to his mother-in-law's house. Ella quickly forbade Dason to return to the house.

"You better not go home there, just wait a few days. Because some documents that will be needed to continue Mr. Edwin's business are being prepared," Ella said as she put back on the shirt she had taken off earlier.

"Stay here for a while. With me, because I'm alone here too," Ella offered. Because she thought Dason did not have the money to just rent a place to stay.

Dason, who got the offer, just smiled mockingly at Ella.

"Thanks, I'll stay with my friend," Dason said as he grabbed the door handle and left Ella's apartment in a hurry. And Ella just watched him leave with a shrug of her shoulders.

In her apartment unit, after Dason had left, over a cup of hot coffee, Ella began to read through the documents describing Dason again, which she had collected from her surreptitious observations since Dason had entered her late boss's house. She realized that her assessment of Dason had changed slightly.

A week passed. With a few million left in his account, Dason had bought an expensive motorcycle, some decent clothes and pants, and a diamond ring that he would give to Audrey. Since they got married a year ago, Dason had never given Audrey an expensive gift because his finances didn't allow it.

"I hope Audrey likes it," Dason muttered as he looked at the diamond ring. Dason deliberately bought a beautiful ring box to make the ring look even more luxurious.

As for the mysterious application itself, although he had not found a reasonable explanation, Dason chose not to think much about it. At least the money was actually transferred to his account, and he could use it.

Riding his motorcycle, Dason confidently went to his mother-in-law's house. His intention was to give the diamond ring to Audrey in person and invite her to go with him.

Dason had previously informed Audrey via chat about his arrival, but there was no reply from Audrey. And unfortunately for him, when he arrived at his in-laws' house, he was not allowed to meet Audrey. His mother-in-law and brothers-in-law rebuked him, showered him with harsh words, and, of course, kicked him out.

"What are you doing here, huh?" asked Mrs. Beatrice when she saw Dason at their doorstep.

Dason gently and politely said that he wanted to see his wife, Audrey.

"Audrey doesn't need a trashy husband like you, and soon Audrey will be filing your divorce papers in court. Get ready, because I'm sick of having a poor son-in-law like you," Beatrice said as she turned her face away, not wanting to look at Dason's face.

"You're shameless; you still dare to come here and recognize Audrey as his wife. Cuih," continued Callie, who seemed to be her mother-in-law's bodyguard.

"Now you go! Audrey doesn't want to see you anymore!" scolded Mrs. Beatrice while pushing Dason's shoulder with the tip of her hand in disgust.

Just as Dason was so furious that he wanted to yell at them, Audrey's voice came from inside the house.

"What's the fuss, Ma? Who's here?" Audrey asked as she came down the stairs.

When she found out that it was Dason, Audrey was silent for a while. Likewise, Dason looked with sparkling eyes, staring into Audrey's eyes. Their gazes met. Then there was a strong sadness in Audrey's eyes.

Without saying anything, Audrey suddenly turned her face away, went up the stairs, and returned to her room in a hurry. Seeing this, Dason was immediately sad, and he immediately felt hurt. He also thought Audrey really didn't care about him anymore. His intention to invite Audrey to live with him immediately dimmed. Dason looked down at the paper bag in his hand, which contained a diamond ring box for Audrey.

"Go away; Audrey doesn't want to have a husband like you!" Beatrice shouted.

Dason was hurt and felt expelled for the second time. Before leaving, he angrily threatened his mother-in-law and sisters-in-law that she could make them suffer the fate of Gaston at the party the other day.

Dason looked at his mother-in-law and sister-in-law one by one with a frightening look and a sharp look in his eyes.

"Just so you know! I can make you kneel in front of me just like Gaston did at Jasmine's restaurant a while ago!" Dason shouted as he turned his body around and walked away.

What he said then made the people wonder and look at each other.

"What does that poor guy mean by talking like that? So arrogant, who is he?" asked Callie in an annoyed tone.

"He dreams of heights," replied Beatrice with a shake of her head.

One of them discussed the rumors about Gaston being humiliated at the party. Of course, no newspapers or anything would report it because Gaston's family had influence in the industry. The only news that reached them was through posts on social media, but it wasn't clear who the person who humiliated Gaston was. One of Dason's brother-in-laws then suspected that it might be Dason, but he was immediately yelled at by his mother.

"Or maybe the person at the party who won the bet with Gaston the other day was Dason?" asked Callie, one of Dason's sisters-in-law, with wide eyes.

All eyes looked incredulously at Callie.

"Shut up, Callie; that's not possible. Use your brain to think: how can Dason beat  Gaston?" Beatrice scolded her daughter-in-law. Making the son-in-law look down while splashing.

Dason's mother-in-law certainly did not have the slightest idea that her son-in-law was now very rich and influential.

In her room, Audrey lay down and cried. When she saw Dason earlier, she immediately remembered the day he kicked her out, and she was disappointed that he left in the end instead of fighting to defend himself or at least taking her along. His anger towards Dason had been bothering him all week, and it peaked when they looked at each other. Then, in between her tears, a message arrived on her cell phone—from Dason.
