John’s fists trembled as Lucas disappeared into the distance, his retreating figure only intensifying John’s rage. He took a step forward, his jaw clenched, ready to chase after the arrogant man who had dared to insult him in his own home.

“John, don’t.” Olivia’s voice was sharp and commanding. “If you walk out that door, we’re done.”

Her words stopped him cold. He turned to face her, his chest heaving. “You’re defending him? After everything he said?”

“I’m not defending him,” Olivia said, her voice taut with frustration. “I’m trying to stop you from making a mistake. Do you think fighting him will solve anything? You’ll only dig yourself into a deeper hole.”

John’s anger simmered, but her words stung more than they soothed. “He humiliated me, Olivia. In front of you. In front of your mother.”

“And you think attacking him with a knife will fix that?” Olivia shot back. “Grow up, John. You can’t go around solving problems with your fists.”

Her disappointment cut deeper than he expected. John sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “I wasn’t thinking straight. But you don’t understand—”

“What I understand is that your reckless behavior will only bring trouble,” Olivia interrupted. “Do you know what my mother would do if Lucas decided to press charges? Do you even care?”

John’s retort died in his throat as he looked into her eyes. For the first time, he noticed the faint shadows under them, the tension in her posture. His gaze sharpened, and something new awakened within him—his Dragon Way Bloodline had enhanced his perception, and suddenly, he could see more than just her fatigue.

“You’re… not sleeping well,” John said softly, his tone shifting. “And your neck—there’s stiffness there. Pain, isn’t there?”

Olivia blinked, startled. “How did you…?”

“You’ve been under too much stress,” John continued, stepping closer. “It’s affecting your health.”

Her face flushed, a mix of embarrassment and disbelief. “Stop it, John. Don’t change the subject.”

“I’m not,” John said, his voice steady. “I’m worried about you.”

She shook her head, exhaling sharply. “This isn’t about me. Just… think before you act, John. For once.”

Frustrated and needing clarity, John left the Wilson villa and headed toward his grandfather’s house. The cool evening air did little to calm the storm in his mind. As he turned a corner, he accidentally bumped into a woman walking in the opposite direction.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” John said quickly, steadying her.

The woman, strikingly beautiful with long black hair and sharp eyes, frowned slightly but nodded. “It’s fine.”

As she adjusted her scarf, John’s enhanced perception kicked in again. His eyes lingered on the curve of her neck, and he noticed something unusual. “Wait,” he said hesitantly. “Do you feel pain in your neck and shoulders? Maybe numbness in your hands?”

The woman’s brows furrowed. “How do you know that?”

“You have cervical spondylosis,” John said matter-of-factly. “It’s not severe, but if untreated, it could worsen. I can help.”

The woman stared at him, her initial irritation giving way to curiosity. “You’re… a doctor?”

John hesitated. “Something like that. Try stretching your neck daily and avoid long hours looking down at your phone or computer. If it gets worse, I can recommend some treatments.”

She nodded slowly, her intrigue evident. “Who are you?”

“Just someone passing by,” John said with a small smile. “Take care of yourself.”

Before she could respond, he turned and hurried off, leaving her standing in the middle of the sidewalk, watching him disappear.

When John arrived at his grandfather’s house, the sight of the quiet home hit him with a wave of nostalgia. Memories of his childhood flooded back—playing in the yard, listening to his grandfather’s stories by the fireplace.

Emily opened the door, her expression somber. “John.”

“Emily.” He stepped inside, looking around. “I came to see Grandpa. I think I can help him.”

Her face fell, and she looked away. “John… Grandpa passed away half a month ago.”

The words struck him like a physical blow. “What? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I tried,” Emily said softly. “But you were dealing with so much… Olivia handled the funeral arrangements. She even paid for everything.”

John sank into a chair, his mind racing. She paid for the funeral? He hadn’t expected that. It conflicted with everything he thought about Olivia.

Emily knelt beside him, placing a hand on his arm. “Before Grandpa passed, he made me promise something.”

“What was it?” John asked, his voice hoarse.

“He said you must never leave the Wilson family. He said it was important, but he didn’t explain why.”

John stared at her, the weight of her words pressing down on him. Grandpa knew something I didn’t.

Later that evening, John visited his grandfather’s grave. The freshly turned soil and simple gravestone stood in stark contrast to the lively memories of his youth. He knelt, placing a hand on the stone.

“Grandpa, I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I should’ve been here for you.”

Tears pricked his eyes as he recalled the days when everything felt simpler, when his family was whole. The world had changed so much, and he had spent too long feeling powerless.

“I won’t live in fear anymore,” John vowed. “Not for them, not for anyone.”

The air in the dimly lit room was thick with tension. Olivia Wilson sat on the plush armchair, her posture regal but detached, as she pulled out her checkbook. Across from her, Emily Carter sat stiffly, her hands wringing together in a nervous habit.“I’ve transferred enough to cover all your debts,” Olivia said, her voice smooth but laced with indifference. “Including the online loans.” She scribbled a figure onto the check and handed it over with a flick of her wrist.Emily hesitated before taking it. “Thank you… I don’t know how I’ll ever repay—”“You won’t.” Olivia’s eyes were cold, her lips curling into a faint smirk. “Let’s not pretend you can. This isn’t charity, Emily. It's an obligation. For John’s sake, not yours.”Emily flinched at the words but forced herself to nod. “I appreciate it, regardless.”Olivia crossed her legs, her gaze sharp. “Just remember where you stand. Without us, you’d still be on the verge of being dragged away by debt collectors. Keep that in mind.”Emi
