The Elite City - Cheating The System

Aside from the fact that all the best things are promised in Elite City from education to health care and spectacular skyscrapers, no one from the outside knows what really is for some information about the city remains mysterious for the settlers outside of it. Elite City is a promised land. That's all that everyone knows and was sure of. Elite City was dubbed the most expensive city in the world. Owning a house there does not come easy even though you're a resident of Red Coast settling in Elite City was like applying for citizenship in a country. It involves many requirements one has to be CI from financial to personal background making sure that the applicant for residency is eligible to live up to the standard of life in Elite City. So, having money for housing does not guarantee a residency in Elite City. First, one needs to have at least 500 million dollars maintaining balance in his account, a kind of money that's not allowed to be touched during the entire residency, then aside from that, one needs to have a ready amount of cash for a house. The house there is very pricey like 800 million dollars just a small cabin type without a room. So, Henley realized that if he wanted to have a grand moving-in scene in Elite City, then he need to purchase the most expensive house in there.

Wait, but the problem is how am I going to maintain the 500 million dollars in my account needed for the background verification when the system wants him to keep spending the money that gets into his account?

Henley dialed his phone.

"Hey, Noah, I need some information about the bank that takes care of the Elite City residents."

---

The next day, Henley tries on the fingerprint alternator which Noah gives him. He was guaranteed by its quality for the maker of this alternator was reliable in the underground market, according to Noah's research the bank handling the city's residency isn't that quite strict when it comes to approving accounts, what he needs to pass through instead was the digital checking of his account. It was said that the Elite City's residence's maintaining balance was checked from time to time, and would easily be detected once the money was gone from the account even just for a second. In Henley's case, where nothing remains in his account, the only way he thinks of was creating another bank account for the background check, one that belongs to him but cannot be traced by the system and cannot be identified as his. So, therefore the 500 million dollars maintaining balance must appear as something he purchased, and that would look like it with the help of this fingerprint alternator.

" That is made of gelatin for gelatin has a similar electrical conductivity as your finger,"  Noah explained to him.

The fingerprint alternator will serve as a mask to his finger for such time. It will allow him to create a different fingerprint like another person has opened a bank account. Anyway, he'll be using his left hand for the print, for that's the part where the weird system information is not popping out, hopefully, the bank staff will not notice.

"Why am I having a hard time wearing this stuff? What if I buy the bank instead?"  Henley whined.

"Oh, you cannot. The bank is owned by the President, by the Red Coast Country, government-owned, strictly not for sale,"  Noah said.

"Okay, so it seems that this fingerprint mask is my only hope!"

----

The next morning, perhaps this is the most tense day of his life, sitting in front of the bank staff. He dreamed of this, opening an account, depositing a huge amount of money but this situation that he's into right now was not one of those he imagined.

" Sir, your name please,"  the bank staff asked.

He's asking him to sign some documents.

What name do I write here?

Henley Summers.

He used his mother's maiden name.

" Okay now sir, this way,"

The bank staff lead him to the vault room while others assisted him with the cash he was depositing. After that, he's asked to use his fingerprint for the room lock. Now, his chest was pounding when he was pressing his finger on the door lock.

Done! Verified! Locked Succesfully!

Henley took a deep breath after. Okay, so this is what the fingerprint is for, it's not only to make sure of the depositor's identity but to secure the money's lock too.

Success! Henley sighed a relief when he got out of the bank.

Toooott!

The system update sounded again.

[One Billion dollars was deposited in your bank account!

Still on level 1

Task: Spending

Spend the money in 2 days when done it will grow double. Failing to spend it all in the required time will depreciate your account twice the amount deposited! ]

Henley's eyes widened.

He's glad that he wasn't caught that he did not spend the 500 million dollars instead he deposited it in another bank account of his with a different name under it, but reading through the task requirement now surprises him. Of course, he doesn't want his money to decrease to zero, that's the cost if he fails to spend the one billion dollars in 2 days.

His phone rang.

" Boss, I have something for you,"

It was Noah. He told him to investigate the bar where he got humiliated before.

"It turns out that Night Zero Bar's owner was not a resident of Elite City,"  Noah told him.

Hearing that, a smile drew on Henley's face. Now he knows where he will spend his money.

----

Unlike the last time he saw this bar, now, years after he was humiliated in this place, it seemed that Night Zero Bar had lost its glory. He heard that its owner was at the mercy of investors. It's on the verge of bankruptcy. Outside, the bar was flickering in its splendid lights, yet unlike before it seemed to have lowered its standard to the type of customers it catered to. Now, it's accepting even not the residents of Elite City, which is favorable to Henley. At the entrance, the staff quickly let him in for sure because he was now far from the shabby dresser they had once thrown out of there. He's looking classy in his gray trendy chino pants, black button-down shirts, black shoes, and shades. His outfit is perfect enough for clubbing. Prior to that, he already made an impression when he intentionally paraded his sleek black Ferrari Monza at the bar entrance, so without exerting any effort the staff treated him like a VIP.

Hmm...so this is how it looks inside? I'm not impressed. I was expecting more based on the way they treated me here last time! Henley thought to himself when he get inside the bar.

For him, the bar was just like ordinary bars. It was Elite City residents that makes this bar famous, the residents' recommendation set this bar on a pedestal, but now that only a few were going here, the bar was no longer of importance as before.

The waiter handed him the menu. He was even offered a welcome drink for free but Henley told them that he came not to have fun but for business.

" I want to talk to the owner. Tell him I'll buy this bar at a price where he can secure a lot in Elite City,"  Henley said to the manager.

Of course, who would not want his offer? Elite City is everyone's dream. So, the owner rushed to come right away to the bar, and minutes after, the owner was already there in front of him, agreeing with his deal.

"Rest assured I will restore this bar to its former glory,"  that's what just Henley told the owner.

Deal close.

After an hour Henley had become the new owner of Night Zero Bar.

Henley was determined in restoring the bar from bankruptcy, he even paid the most excellent marketer in the country for the bar's image rebranding. He wanted to keep its name, for it to remain as Night Zero, and from ordinary structures and menu, he upgraded its look into something that's lavish and luxurious. He wanted the bar to have a high-end type of impression, classic, and elegant, one that the residents of Elite City would long to experience.

" I want my bar's brand to become a culture, a household name where any citizen of Red Coast would die to experience. Can you do that for me?"  Henley asked the marketing agency he hired.

They assured him that they were the perfect people for the job. And they are, months after the bar's renovation, Night Zero Bar once again had risen to fame, but now news spread that it's under a new owner. The people got curious about who's the new owner of the bar, yet Henley decided to conceal his identity first. Now, isn't the right time yet, besides, the more that the customers are intrigued of him, by the owner, the more that the bar gained popularity. Now, Night Zero Bar has become the household name of Red Coast country, and the bar itself has become the dream hangout of many, yet Henley made sure that his bar wasn't made for all. Yeah, everyone is welcome there except for the Elite City residents.

" If any of Elite City residents came here and would pushed through in getting in, you have my word--throw them all out of here!"

That was Henley's strict order to his staff.

[ System Update! Well done! Your money was doubled!

You have got 2 Billion Dollars in your account! You have 2 days to spend it]

Reading the system, Henley sighed a relief, at least he have got 2 days to do the task.

Okay, now time for tripping in Elite City! Henley thinks.

---

One can only be granted tripping in Elite City once he has a ready million cash for a resident card. The cheapest resident card cost 700 million dollars, and the most expensive was 2Billion dollars. The resident card determines one's status of residency. And one can only be granted a tripping inside once he already purchased a resident card, for having a resident card means securing a sure slot inside the city. So, the next day, Henley proudly arranged a tripping in Elite City. When the staff learned that he'll be buying the most expensive city card, he was given VIP treatment again. During the trip, he was also given an orientation about how's life inside the city, the standard and cost of living. Henley wasn't expecting that even inside the Elite City there's some kind of leveling of social status.

If you're dwelling in the most expensive house in there, then you belong to Cluster A. Cluster A residents are the richest among the rich. The lowest is the Cluster D residents. It means these are the group of residents who just exactly made to get in, who were able to comply with the requirements needed without excess like they have money just enough to buy the lowest price house in here and the lowest priced resident card.

"So, how much is the most expensive house in here?" Henley asked the city guide.

"Oh, Cluster A houses here cost 4 Billion Dollars, sir,"  the city guide said.

"If I buy today, when is the turn over?"  Henley asked.

The city guide's eyes rounded in surprise. It was the first time he heard that someone is quick to pay such an amount.

"Uh, but sir the selling process would took at least 3 or 4 days. You need to make a downpayment and pay the rest on the day of turn over,"  the city guide explained.

Henley calculated the days if they would fit the system's task requirement. If he'll start the transaction purchase now then he'll make it when the next task requirement is given again.

"Okay, deal,"  Henley said.

Yet, the city guide was still , " maybe you want to talk with our estate head because as of now, there's not yet Cluster A houses available, the vacant ones are still in construction," said the city guide.

When they meet the estate head, Henley confirmed that the city guide was telling the truth, and another problem is, they're not closing a deal with houses that are still in construction.

"How about I buy the occupied one?"  Henley suggested.

He looked at the housing map.

" This! I want to buy this one!"

"Uh, but sir t--that's Mr. Krux house!" the estate head muttered.

That's exactly the reason why he's buying it because it was the Krux's family house! It was the house of the people who bullied him before.

"Yeah, I don't care who's the owner of it! But that's exactly the kind of house I want! I will buy it for 6 billion dollars!"  Henley exclaimed.

The estate head was stunned.

"But the most expensive house here just cost 4 Billion dollars!"  the estate head said.

Henley smirked, "Then now, it become 6 Billion dollars and it starts with my house! Deal?"
