{The day before the fight}
With a torch stuck in the ground as a light source, Shori used a knife to carve some tribe letters into a tree, knelt before it, then closed her eyes and clasped her hands together.
"I don't know if my prayers will reach you, oh my goddess." She whispered. "And I don't know if you really chose me to be the fighter here."
That woman choked up. "I just want to go home, your majesty. I want to be with my friends, my family, and my people. I still have to protect them."
On that silent night, she sobbed. "Help me, protect me, give me the strength to go through all this, O my goddess."

Norug had to look up to meet the 6'2" tall woman's face.
"A plain club, huh?" The dwarf glanced at his opponent's weapon. "No spikes or other sharp objects. It seems you have the same taste as me, preferring to feel the sensation of crushing the enemy's bones rather than stabbing or slashing them."
While Norug chuckled, Shori gave the dwarf a cold glance.
As in previous matches, the referee explained the rules, then asked the two fighters to stay away from each other.
"Perhaps you are surprised to see this, viewers," Lognar commented on Shori, who didn't attack right away after the bell rang but moved around while observing Norug. "But this is how she fights. You might think a tribe member like her would attack aggressively, but that is far from the truth."
Matt responded. "In the wild, there are many predators, and they have their own way of hunting. One way is to stalk them first. If there were hiding places in this arena, she would have used them."
The spectators, who had been expecting a fierce battle, were starting to get irritated.
"Come on! Fight!"
"What are you doing!?"
"We're here to watch you destroy each other!"
"Attack me!!!" Norug provoked the woman. "Are you such a coward bitch!? You scared of my d*ck!?"
But Shori was still doing the same thing, walking around and keeping an eye on that dwarf.
"Are you saying that the Shori tribe follows what they see in the wild, Matt?" Lognar grinned. "It's going to be interesting, then. The fight between predator and prey in the wild can be fierce at times."
"Didn't you hear what the boss said? We have to make this fight good." Norug ruffled his hair in annoyance. "Well, I rarely strike first, but it seems I have no other choice."
Despite his short legs, Norug dashed at incredible speed. Even so, Shori managed to attack that man's waist first, then moved away.
Norug held his waist. Yes, even if a magic barrier protected someone's body, it didn't mean it would block pain as well.
That thing only reduces the risk of someone getting hurt, after all.
It goes on and on. Norug kept advancing, while Shori would give counterattacks, then run away.
"That reminds me of some species of snake that will only fight if they feel threatened or the enemy attacks them first." Matt was fascinated by what had happened before him.
"And she is so amazing at those!" Lognar spread his arms. "Once again, this is the result of your clever selection of fighters, Matt!"
Norug tried to attack from various directions, not only on the ground but also by jumping. Meanwhile, Shori provides a variety of attacks on his opponent, from club swings or thrusts to kicks, punches, and headbutts.
And all of that happens fast.
The audience no longer despises that way of fighting. They enjoyed the fighters' creativity in attacking and gasped when they encountered unexpected movements from Norug or Shori.
"This looks like a game of tag, but I love it, Matt! This is so much fun!" Lognar chuckled as Norug dashed across the iron wire wall and jumped to hit Shori. But the tribe woman kicked him in the stomach instead, forcing the dwarf to roll backward.
"But it's clear who is starting to lose here." Matt hissed.
Shori had hit Norug many times in various parts of the body, but the dwarf had yet to counterattack.
While Norug groaned in pain repeatedly, the tribe woman was only out of breath and occasionally wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Even so, the dwarf stepped forward to attack again.
"Ooooh!!!" The audience gasped.
Lognar rose to his feet. "Norug still has something!!!"
Norug caught Shori's hand holding the club, then twisted it. When that female warrior screamed in pain, she lost her grip on her weapon.
Norug kicked that thing before it even hit the floor.
"Looks like Shori is running out of stamina faster." Matt guessed.
Lognar nodded. "Yeah, their speed decreased, but Shori is slower. That's what gives Norug a chance."
A great struggle ensued because Norug did not want to let go of his opponent's hand. But in the end, Shori managed to break free.
Wasting no time, she slammed her knee into the dwarf's face.
The audience gasped again.
"What happened, ladies and gentlemen!?" Lognar screamed as his fellow dwarf's body flew to a corner of the arena. And when the commentator noticed the blood pouring from Norug's nose, he raised his voice. "Norug's magical barrier has been depleted!!! He's bleeding!!! He's bleeding!!!"
With a loud groan, Norug stood up with his hammer as support. With a pain in his face and a bit short of breath, he wiped the blood from his face.
On the other hand, Shori knelt while catching her breath instead of continuing the attack.
"Ah, even at this stage, we can't predict who will win yet." Lognar clapped. "Is it Norug, whose magic barrier is depleted, or Shori, who has no stamina?"
Norug had never felt his heart beat this fast. As a mercenary in his previous life, he had never encountered an opponent like this.
Usually, he is the one who provokes his opponent, then counterattacks. But this time, he had to improvise a lot to beat this woman, and it all failed.
Even the idea of catching Shori's hand just passed through his head a moment ago, born from his desperation.
He then glanced at his opponent. If Shori can push him to this stage, does that mean she's that special?
Instead of being annoyed, Norug grinned and used his battle hammer to point at the tribe woman.
"I like you, Shori! You're so strong!" He then took a deep breath. "After all this is over, marry me!"
The stadium was silent. Shori could only lower her chin, unable to believe what she just heard. Lognar laughed hard. "Amazing!!! Again, something shocking!!!" Matt didn't know what to say. "What did you say?" Shori gritted her teeth and stood up. "Are you out of your mind? We barely know each other!" "Trust me, sweety." Norug wore a broad smile. "We will be a perfect match. But I will prove that I am the strongest by defeating you. That way, you will know that I am worthy of you." "You f*cking sh*t!" Shori snapped. "I wouldn't want to be with you! And I'd beat you so I could go home!" "We will see!!!" Norug laughed again. "I'll show you a move I've never used before!!! You will be amazed and will fall in love with me!!!" "Errr…." Lognar scratched his hair. "I don't think that's how to attract a woman, Norug." Instead of attacking his opponent, Norug pounded the floor with his hammer. "I can feel an earthquake, M
{A week before the show}The long-haired girl jumped onto a large tree branch, slid down using her enhanced electrical roller skate, then used the power of the wheels in those things to jump higher. She arched her body in the air as she raised her hands, almost forming a C shape. With the tight dark gray bodysuit, every flex of her muscles was clearly visible. After performing several maneuvers in the air, she jumps from one tree to another at high speed, occasionally sliding on rocks or ground. Even though those surfaces are not completely flat, the intricate system in her rolling skates will keep her stable.Matt could only stand in silence, fascinated by those elegant movements. But at the same time, he could feel some ferocity from the rolling skate motor's roars. She did a whirl in the air like a ballerina, then landed a few feet in front of the president."Training, huh?" Matt approached the woman with a
Behind the entrance curtain, Salvia took a deep breath. The hustle and bustle of the people outside made her heart rate crawl up. Her last experience in front of many people was at her high school graduation. They called her to receive the certificate on the stage. Even then, she did it in turns with the other students. So, it's natural that she almost freaked out now. A crew member was standing not far from her, wearing a large headset and ready to give a signal. As the speakers fired hip-hop music with a vibrant synth melody, the crew gave a thumbs up, and Salvia pushed aside the curtain. The female rapper's singing filled the stadium. "In the techno city, she ready to strike." "A cyberpunk queen, out at midnight." "In the crime-ridden area, she still has dreams." "A future knight, she did it to the extreme." She slides with her roller s
Shin's body exploded into smoke and turned into a piece of wood with a paper seal attached. "What happened, ladies and gentlemen!?" Lognar points to that thing. "He transformed!!!" However, Salvia twisted her body backward. Shin's sword and the wheels on Salvia's skates collided, setting off sparks and a loud clang, sending the audience into a frenzy. This time the ninja was more aggressive in attacking. He pushed his opponent by continuing to swing his sword. Salvia had a hard time dodging the attacks and was forced to use her arms to block. It continued to reduce Salvia's magic barrier. "She can do nothing, Matt!" Lognar hit the commentator's desk. "And now she's in the cage's corner, no way out!!!" “Come on, Salvia.” Matt hissed. Shin kept slashing at the woman. But Salvia did not give up. She began to spin like a ballerina again but at a much faster speed. Unlike before, where she used the momentum of her ju
{A few days after the ritual of summoning fighters} Jun Tokuma performed a punch combination on a training dummy made of sacks. His bare upper body displayed prominent muscles, though his stature was not overly bulky. The morning sun reflected off his flowing sweat. He's been doing that long enough today. "Arrrghhh!!!" The undercut-haired young man dealt a hard final blow to that dummy, sending it crashing down. He paused, looking at the broken wooden peg, the torn sack, and the scattered sand. Then, he crouched down, scooping the sand into the sack using his hands. His mind was dazed, so he forgot to hold back his strength in the final blow. Since coming to that place, he kept thinking of ways to save those fighters. He will not bow before evil. "You don't have to do that, you know?" Vivianne came up to the man with her hands behind her back. "Let our staff take care of it. You are a special per
{Four days before the show} "Ah, it's them again," Rory complained while looking at the women who came from a distance. He was sweating bucket, holding a shield and a wooden sword. "Looks like we do have to put up a magic fence around this area." "But the staff is currently focusing on building other things." Alexander Mirea swung his wooden rapier–a thin sword–in the air a few times, then inserted it into the sheath at his waist. That warrior was also sweating after sparring with Rory. "Well, don't you love their company, Rory?" Rory grinned. "How about you?" "It's a pity if we don't meet them…." Alex noticed Matt and Megumi coming from a distance. And then, several bodyguards in black uniforms blocked the path of the fans. They protested while shouting Rory and Alex's names. "Alexander Mirea." The president called one that slender warrior. "Follow us. We have important matters to discuss." He studied t
{Many years ago, in a certain kingdom, Miragnir realm} Lexi looked into a large mirror and saw her reflection wearing a transparent cyan dress and high heels. Her blonde hair, usually tied up, was now loose. Those feminine curves, and she had to play the male role simply because the Mirea family had no male heirs. Lexi's mother was quite old when she gave birth and immediately died due to complications. And because his love for his wife was so great, Lexi's father—the leader of the Mirea family—didn't want to remarry. So, it's Lexi who has to make sacrifices. The Mirea noble family was very influential in the kingdom's military. So, a son as the successor of the leader is crucial. Yes, just like the successor to the royal throne. The woman's tears began to fall one by one. After over twenty years of doing that lie, her heart remained unchanged. Lexi didn't like practicing swordsmanship, going into battle
Blood flowed from Jun's cheek. Even though Lexi attacked his body many times, Jun still didn't give any counterattack."Coward! Coward! Coward!" The audience continued to curse the man."You still don't want to fight, darling?" Lexi didn't slow down her attacks at all. "It's a shame."Lognar sighed. "Damn it. I don't want to admit this. But at this rate, I agree with the audience. Whatever his reasons, Jun is a coward."This was the first time Matt thought that perhaps he had made the wrong choice. Jun's profile is unique. Very unique, in fact, to the point where Matt didn't think long enough to summon him.Jun managed to catch Lexi's hand and put it down. He hissed again. "Please, this is for all of us. I will free you guys."Lexi's mouth let out a bitter chuckle. "I told you, I don't want to get out of here."The woman kicked Jun in the stomach to free herself. But instead of attacking again, she took a few steps back."I wil
