16 – Confession

The stadium was silent. Shori could only lower her chin, unable to believe what she just heard.

Lognar laughed hard. "Amazing!!! Again, something shocking!!!"

Matt didn't know what to say.

"What did you say?" Shori gritted her teeth and stood up. "Are you out of your mind? We barely know each other!"

"Trust me, sweety." Norug wore a broad smile. "We will be a perfect match. But I will prove that I am the strongest by defeating you. That way, you will know that I am worthy of you."

"You f*cking sh*t!" Shori snapped. "I wouldn't want to be with you! And I'd beat you so I could go home!"

"We will see!!!" Norug laughed again. "I'll show you a move I've never used before!!! You will be amazed and will fall in love with me!!!"

"Errr…." Lognar scratched his hair. "I don't think that's how to attract a woman, Norug."

Instead of attacking his opponent, Norug pounded the floor with his hammer.

"I can feel an earthquake, Matt!!!" Lognar held on to the chair. "What's Norug going to do!? As a fellow Dwarf, I can't even guess!"

The spectators started to freak out, even though the vibrations they felt weren't as intense as in the cage.

Matt had anticipated this. He knew that Norug had earth elemental skills.

So, the president used some magic damper on the audience area. But that doesn't seem to be working optimally.

If the vibrations were as hard as inside the cage, those spectators would have fallen like the referee and Shori. The two women even had trouble standing up.

The sound of the hammer crashing, accompanied by the ringing of the vibrating metal cage, reverberated through the stadium.

"Or is it better for you to give up, Shori!!!" Norug continued pounding the arena floor, which miraculously remained intact. "There's something big coming!!!"

"Yeah, I can feel it." The female tribe warrior hissed, then dashed at her opponent.

Norug didn't have time to react when Shori's uppercut hit his chin, sending him high up before finally landing in front of the commentators' area.

The earthquake stopped.

"What happened!?" Lognar sounds like a hysterical man. "Suddenly, she is unaffected by the shock and can attack!!!"

Matt's mouth formed another smile. "Earthquakes often occur where Shori lives, so her tribe is used to it. They have a slogan; be friends with the ground they step on. Even though they sometimes get angry, they are the ones who give life."

That tribe uses the land to grow crops. In addition, the animals they consume also eat plants that grow on the ground.

"But, why didn't she do it earlier? That would…" The Dwarf commentator gasped. "Ah, I understand now.

"Yes, Lognar." Matt's smile widened. "Earlier, she was pretending to be affected. Aside from catching Norug off guard, she also took a short break because she ran out of stamina."

"Incredible!!! This is not just a battle of strength but also a battle of wits!!!"

Norug got up with the help of the wires on the arena wall. He giggled and rambled like a drunk. "Apparently, dying from too much drinking wasn't bad, Mr.President. When I was resurrected, I found my true love."

"I'm glad to hear that, but you must stay on guard against your opponent." Lognar gave his fellow dwarf a warning.

Norug glanced at Shori, who was limping to take her club. The dwarf then staggered to pick up his own weapon, which was also lying on the floor.

"I think this is the final moment of this match." Lognar sighed. "Too bad, but I really enjoyed their fight."

"But this all has to end, Lognar," Matt answered. "Whoever wins, they have given their best."

Norug desperately maintained his grip on his battle hammer. Pain coursed through his body, and the last uppercut seemed to mess up his head. He found it increasingly difficult to maintain his balance. His vision was also starting to blur.

Meanwhile, Shori feels that all her energy has been drained. His legs had to be forced to move.

"Be honest with me, Matt," Lognar whispered to the president with his mouth away from the mic, trying to keep his voice low. "You didn't arrange this match randomly, did you? Norug has earth elements skills, and Shori has the ability to overcome them."

"What do you think?" Matt asked back with a grin.

The two fighters stayed inches away from each other, earning thunderous applause and cheers.

"I want to ask you one thing, sweety. Before we end this." The dwarf warrior struggled to form words as his consciousness faded. "When you detected my skill just now, did you know what would come at you from underground?"

"No," Shori answered in a cold tone. "I just know it's something big."

Then, those fighters swung their weapons at the same time. Norug's hammer hit Shori's waist while the tribe woman's club landed on the dwarf's forehead.

Both of them collapsed, causing the audience to gulp in anticipation.

"This is it." Lognar narrowed his eyes.

After a few counts from the referee, Shori got up first with rains of cheers. The tribe woman staggered to maintain her body upright.

The count started all over again, but Norug groaned. "No need, I give up."

The referee knelt to confirm Norug's words. After getting a nod, she signaled to the official.

"She still has a magic barrier." The dwarf commentator concluded. "Norug has no chance."

The bell rang three times, and the announcer declared. "And the winner is Shooooriii!!!"

"Spectacular!!! Spectacular!!! Spectacular!!!" The audience shouted the chants in unison.

Shori sat on the floor and leaned against the cage wall, then the referee raised her left hand.

"Are you alright, Lognar?" Matt tapped his fellow commentator on the arm. That dwarf was looking down with his eyes closed. "Are you sad your fellow dwarf lost?"

"I'm on the neutral side, Matt." Lognar looked at his boss again. "I just don't know if I can survive this excitement! We're only halfway through the show, but already witnessed the amazing moments!!!"

Matt chuckled. "Hang in there…."

Matt's speech was cut short because his attention was distracted by someone in the middle of the front-row audience. The president didn't understand why his gaze fell on that silver-haired woman.

Because she was the most beautiful woman Matt had ever seen? That young man wasn't sure about that.
