{A week before the show}
The long-haired girl jumped onto a large tree branch, slid down using her enhanced electrical roller skate, then used the power of the wheels in those things to jump higher. She arched her body in the air as she raised her hands, almost forming a C shape.
With the tight dark gray bodysuit, every flex of her muscles was clearly visible.
After performing several maneuvers in the air, she jumps from one tree to another at high speed, occasionally sliding on rocks or ground. Even though those surfaces are not completely flat, the intricate system in her rolling skates will keep her stable.
Matt could only stand in silence, fascinated by those elegant movements. But at the same time, he could feel some ferocity from the rolling skate motor's roars.
She did a whirl in the air like a ballerina, then landed a few feet in front of the president.
"Training, huh?" Matt approached the woman with a smile. "I hope I don't bother you, Miss Salvia."
"No, not at all, sir." Salvia wiped the sweat off her neck and forehead with her hand. "I just finished."
"In that case, could you accompany me for lunch?" Matt held up one of the two paper bags he was carrying. "Burgers, fries, and cola. I hear you like this stuff."
No other fighters' profile mentions anything like that. Only Salvia's is different.
The woman looked at the paper bag without a change in expression, but moments later, she had tears in her eyes.
"Why are you crying?" Matt was bewildered by what was happening in front of him. "Did I do something to you?"
Salvia wiped her tears, then sucked back the snot that was starting to fall, very much like a child. "I thought I wouldn't be able to find a burger forever. The food available here is mostly traditional… Not that I don't like them…. It is just…."
She choked up and couldn't continue her words.
"You really craving these, right?" The president chuckled, though he still couldn't understand that something like this could make someone cry with joy. "Let's find a place to eat."
Their choice fell on a tree the size of three human arms. Matt found lots of long scratch marks on that plant's body.
The president could only speculate that they were remnants from Salvia's training. That woman was the only one who trained in that area.
Salvia studied the large burger in her hand, then sniffed it for a moment. She looked like she was confirming that the food was real.
And after taking a bite, she closed her eyes and chewed slowly, as if she was enjoying the best food from heaven.
"So, how was your training?" Matt opened the chat after biting into his burger. "Are you ready for the show?"
The woman replied while chewing. "I'm ready, sir…. I guess…. Maybe a little? Sorry… To be honest, I don't know."
She grimaced, and Matt chuckled at her expression, which looked like a kid who had just done something wrong.
“Say it, Miss. Raquel Sa…”
"Salvia." The woman corrected his boss using a more serious tone. "My name is Salvia, Sir."
"Very well, Miss Salvia. Forgive me." Matt smiled again. "Are you having fun here? You don't need to think of a strategy to fight against the government and the mafia that failed your people."
Salvia was silent for a few moments. "How far do you know about me, sir?"
"I even know that you and your friends succeeded in overthrowing your city's government." The president sipped his cola.
The woman took a deep breath. "Yeah, at the very least, I can die without regrets. My mission is complete. I hope my town really gets better."
The injury of Salvia, the vigilante, by the police triggers the townspeople to rise up to fight. The fighting was so intense that the central government was forced to intervene by replacing many city officials.
In her dying condition, she watched that victory on television, accompanied by her comrades in arms.
"You must really miss your friends." Matt popped one of the French fries into his mouth. "Some of them grew up with you, roller-skating with you when you guys were little."
"You do know a lot about me, sir." Salvia closed her eyes. "Do you know why I joined the rebels? Apart from my friends being there, of course?"
"Your profile doesn't explain it in detail." The president shrugged. "But I guess it's because you saw for yourself what happened. You used to live in a slum area, where people were oppressed, not given the opportunity to live a decent life and get health care."
"My mother and father, who had been leading the way in planning a large-scale rebellion, were bribed to tell them everything." Salvia took another bite of her burger. "The way the rebels communicate, their hiding places, and so on…. Only with money, my parents become the best lackeys of those tyrants."
Because of that, Salvia threw away her real name, which her parents gave her. After that, Salvia broke away from her parents and created a new rebel organization with her friends.
"Sorry if I brought this up." Matt could detect a single tear in the corner of her eye. "I just want to say it's all over. You can rest easy here, and what's wrong with having fun again."
Salvia started devouring her burger even more. "So, according to you, the definition of having fun is fighting in that cage?"
"Well, you won't know if you don't try." Matt put the second paper bag he brought next to that woman. "I've prepared an outfit with your favorite color. Hope you like it. You no longer need to camouflage yourself in the dark at night."
"This…." She gasped when she took out the contents of the bag, which turned out to be another bodysuit. Instead of being dark gray, that outfit uses a combination of lavender and black.
"In this place, you can be yourself, you know?" Matt could detect that Salvia's eyes glowed up in delight.
"Thank you for these clothes and food. I appreciate it."
Behind the entrance curtain, Salvia took a deep breath. The hustle and bustle of the people outside made her heart rate crawl up. Her last experience in front of many people was at her high school graduation. They called her to receive the certificate on the stage. Even then, she did it in turns with the other students. So, it's natural that she almost freaked out now. A crew member was standing not far from her, wearing a large headset and ready to give a signal. As the speakers fired hip-hop music with a vibrant synth melody, the crew gave a thumbs up, and Salvia pushed aside the curtain. The female rapper's singing filled the stadium. "In the techno city, she ready to strike." "A cyberpunk queen, out at midnight." "In the crime-ridden area, she still has dreams." "A future knight, she did it to the extreme." She slides with her roller s
Shin's body exploded into smoke and turned into a piece of wood with a paper seal attached. "What happened, ladies and gentlemen!?" Lognar points to that thing. "He transformed!!!" However, Salvia twisted her body backward. Shin's sword and the wheels on Salvia's skates collided, setting off sparks and a loud clang, sending the audience into a frenzy. This time the ninja was more aggressive in attacking. He pushed his opponent by continuing to swing his sword. Salvia had a hard time dodging the attacks and was forced to use her arms to block. It continued to reduce Salvia's magic barrier. "She can do nothing, Matt!" Lognar hit the commentator's desk. "And now she's in the cage's corner, no way out!!!" “Come on, Salvia.” Matt hissed. Shin kept slashing at the woman. But Salvia did not give up. She began to spin like a ballerina again but at a much faster speed. Unlike before, where she used the momentum of her ju
{A few days after the ritual of summoning fighters} Jun Tokuma performed a punch combination on a training dummy made of sacks. His bare upper body displayed prominent muscles, though his stature was not overly bulky. The morning sun reflected off his flowing sweat. He's been doing that long enough today. "Arrrghhh!!!" The undercut-haired young man dealt a hard final blow to that dummy, sending it crashing down. He paused, looking at the broken wooden peg, the torn sack, and the scattered sand. Then, he crouched down, scooping the sand into the sack using his hands. His mind was dazed, so he forgot to hold back his strength in the final blow. Since coming to that place, he kept thinking of ways to save those fighters. He will not bow before evil. "You don't have to do that, you know?" Vivianne came up to the man with her hands behind her back. "Let our staff take care of it. You are a special per
{Four days before the show} "Ah, it's them again," Rory complained while looking at the women who came from a distance. He was sweating bucket, holding a shield and a wooden sword. "Looks like we do have to put up a magic fence around this area." "But the staff is currently focusing on building other things." Alexander Mirea swung his wooden rapier–a thin sword–in the air a few times, then inserted it into the sheath at his waist. That warrior was also sweating after sparring with Rory. "Well, don't you love their company, Rory?" Rory grinned. "How about you?" "It's a pity if we don't meet them…." Alex noticed Matt and Megumi coming from a distance. And then, several bodyguards in black uniforms blocked the path of the fans. They protested while shouting Rory and Alex's names. "Alexander Mirea." The president called one that slender warrior. "Follow us. We have important matters to discuss." He studied t
{Many years ago, in a certain kingdom, Miragnir realm} Lexi looked into a large mirror and saw her reflection wearing a transparent cyan dress and high heels. Her blonde hair, usually tied up, was now loose. Those feminine curves, and she had to play the male role simply because the Mirea family had no male heirs. Lexi's mother was quite old when she gave birth and immediately died due to complications. And because his love for his wife was so great, Lexi's father—the leader of the Mirea family—didn't want to remarry. So, it's Lexi who has to make sacrifices. The Mirea noble family was very influential in the kingdom's military. So, a son as the successor of the leader is crucial. Yes, just like the successor to the royal throne. The woman's tears began to fall one by one. After over twenty years of doing that lie, her heart remained unchanged. Lexi didn't like practicing swordsmanship, going into battle
Blood flowed from Jun's cheek. Even though Lexi attacked his body many times, Jun still didn't give any counterattack."Coward! Coward! Coward!" The audience continued to curse the man."You still don't want to fight, darling?" Lexi didn't slow down her attacks at all. "It's a shame."Lognar sighed. "Damn it. I don't want to admit this. But at this rate, I agree with the audience. Whatever his reasons, Jun is a coward."This was the first time Matt thought that perhaps he had made the wrong choice. Jun's profile is unique. Very unique, in fact, to the point where Matt didn't think long enough to summon him.Jun managed to catch Lexi's hand and put it down. He hissed again. "Please, this is for all of us. I will free you guys."Lexi's mouth let out a bitter chuckle. "I told you, I don't want to get out of here."The woman kicked Jun in the stomach to free herself. But instead of attacking again, she took a few steps back."I wil
The support from the audience turned to Jun Tokuma. Their voices shook the stadium. "Holy sh*t! Holy sh*t! Holy sh*t!” "You look too excited, Matt." Lognar giggled. "Now I understand why you chose him." Matt caught his breath, then sat back down. "This is one of the things I look forward to the most." Lexi tilted her head, still pointing her sword at the man. "Even with that form, you didn't take the initiative to attack first?" Jun didn't answer and stayed where he was. So, Lexi decided to move forward again. But this time, Jun caught Lexi's hand and threw that woman's body, making her land hard on the floor. "Finally! Finally, Jun put up a fight!" Lognar commented. "What will he do after this!? Oh, he's walking up to Lexi!" Matt narrowed his eyes. His gut sensed something was wrong. Lexi got up and attacked again. "Sorry." This time, Jun let Lexi's attack hit his body. Then, that man caught her body again and
"You're useless!" Namie kept hitting Nia on the head with a big wrench. "We have got a new chance, but you waste it!!!" Nia doesn't respond because right now, she's just a metal frame with torn idol clothes. "Please, stop!" Megumi, who had just entered the workshop tent, begged. "She's a valuable asset for MFC!" With a heavy breath, Namie dropped the wrench, then knelt in front of the android she made. "Don't worry, I'm banging on the parts that can't be repaired anymore and need replacing." Namie wiped her sweat and looked at Nia's head which had been crushed, and many of its parts were sticking out. "And Nia's personality data is always connected wirelessly on this server. So, every second, her memory will be backed up. But maybe she forgot the last moments of her last fight." Megumi walked up to that woman. "I got the task to check several fighters. One of them is Nia…." "I can fix her, but it might take a while. I want to refine he
