Trial

"...Roman.." Came a light whisper from the ground. Beneath the first Mutant laid the mangled body of the governor. He was barely recognisable, and was probably only alive because most of his parts were gadgets, any normal human would be dead in those conditions.

Crouching down to the floor, Roman took the remaining pieces of the broken man and settled them on an elevated plane beside the mass of rubbles and destruction.

"Who did this?" Roman's voice was calm, yet sinister. His expressions didn't show it, but the bloodlust that coated him was enough to have his enemies trembling in fear.

"...It's..a setup..."

"A setup?!" Gregory questioned frantically while taking quick supervision of the environment. "Where's Michael?"

"..You two have to leave now!" It was taking all the energy in him to say those words, but these two weren't yielding. They were overcome by their emotions and weren't paying attention to the threat he was trying to warn them about. "..Please leave now.."

Before Gregory could make a move on his leader, he was cuffed by a watch which had appeared out of nowhere, and Roman was bound too.

"What's the meaning of this?!" The commander questioned while struggling to break free from his restrictions. "Power nullifying cuffs?"

"You're smart commander Gregory, as expected of someone of your calibre" Out of thin air appeared a face Gregory so desperately wanted to punch.

"What do you think you're doing Captain Darwin?! Uncuff us this instant!"

"I'm afraid I cannot do such thing. You've attacked and killed innocent civilians, you're a threat to humanity." Darwin wore a cynical smile on his face as he approached the duo before him. The plan was definitely going according to their predictions. In a flash, the smile on his face suddenly faded and was replaced with a one of terror and fear. He couldn't move, a soul crushing pressure had him pinned to the ground, and in the same moment the air around seemed to have become unhealthy for the body.

"... I've heard you're a monster, but this...this is beyond what a monster should be.." Darwin commented with a shaky voice. Although he couldn't sweat, Darwin felt like he was drowning in a pool of his own sweat, never had he feared anyone as much as he feared this man right now.

"It's unfortunate that even with your strength you'll not be able to break out of those cuffs, they were constructed specially for this single purpose."

"Don't act so arrogant, you know nothing of my strength!" Roman warned after he had freed the atmosphere of his incapacitating aura.

"You're the arrogant one here Roman Alaric. Have you forgotten that you were once a lab rat for the government? They have all the data they need to be able to produce a retraining cuff strong enough to contain you." Darwin returned while he took slow steps towards the remains of the governor before him.

"I never thought I'd see you in this condition former captain Christopher, what a sad ending for an elite soldier." Modifying his right arm into a blade, Darwin thrusted the weapon into the Governor's core, before separating him into two equal halves.

The core was the main part of every Supersoldiers, unless it is destroyed soldiers can still be remade with their memories intact. However once a Supersoldiers core is destroyed, the chances of saving it is absolutely zero.

"Please do not resist, any unnatural act will only worsen your condition."

From one of his metal pockets, Darwin pulled out three teletransporters and had them set up before pushing the two mutants into each of them simultaneously. Once they were inside, he entered the fading beam of the third one and in an instant was transported into a poorly illuminated room alongside his captives.

"Please wait a moment, your trial will begin shortly."

"Darwin you bastard! Get us out of these cuffs!" Gregory yelled at the receding figure of the Supersoldier just before the lights came back on. He genuinely thought they were alone in this room, but it turns out that they'd been sorronded all this while. In fact they were in a literal courtroom.

"Long time no see Roman Alaric." The judge greeted with no hints of emotion visible on his wrinkled face.

"What do you think you're doing Lucas?! Get us out of these cuffs!" Roman ordered. Accompanied by his words was a heavy pressure which had most of the occupants of the room trembling on their knees.

"Threatening the judge with your condescending presence will not do you any better Mr Alaric. You're under trial, and I advise that you act like someone who is in a courtroom." He might not look it, but Lucas Miller was barely in his forties. His old appearance was the result of excessive self experiments. He was the scientist in charge of Roman two years ago, and he had been obsessed with the man's uniqueness. This obsession soon lead Lucas to begin modifying his own body with chemicals and genetic engineering tools. His goal was to achieve the same strength as Roman, but clearly that hadn't worked.

"You've been accused of killing Governor Christopher and thirty five innocent civilians, is this true Mr Alaric?"

"What are you talking about? They were attacked by Ostrians!" Gregory was quick to defend his leader. He already guessed that this would happen, and he could feel that some sort of fake evidence have already been provided by that despicable Darwin.

"You're only allowed to speak when called upon commander Gregory. Any answer Mr Alaric?"

"Get me out of these cuffs and maybe I might answer you!"

Ignoring the threats of the two men before him, Lucas proceeded to ask them more questions. "Is it true that you suggested mutating the citizens by taking them to a factory where experiments are being conducted?"

"How do you know that?" This time Roman was genuinely curious. There was no possible way that they could have known about this unless they've been told. Gregory had been right, someone amongst those civilians had been a spy.

"You do not have the right to ask questions Mr Alaric, you're only expected to answer them."

"We're not answering any of your questions, you know damn well what you're doing and we're not going to play along with your stupid games!" Gregory spat out. He wasn't as calm or dangerous as Jeffrey, but he wasn't going to sit here and watch these murderers judge them.

"I'll take your silence as guilt for the crimes you've committed, I'll now pass the verdict. Roman Alaric and Gregory Smith have been found guilty of mass homicide and treason, and are to be executed as soon as possible. Following this verdict, all mutants are to be considered enemies of the state, and to be eliminated on sight!"
