As the students stepped through the teleporter, they felt a strange sensation, like their molecules were being rearranged. When they opened their eyes, they found themselves in a small room with another teleporter, identical to the one Mr. Leo had activated.
The room was stocked with food supplies, weapons, and medical equipment. The walls of the shelter were made thick, with a double glatherium door. Glatherium was a substance that was harder than metal, making it the perfect material for a shelter. The shelter was powered by solar panels, which were installed on the roof. The second-year students opened the doors, and the students stepped outside into the bright sunlight. As they looked around, they noticed that they were at the foot of a massive mountain, which towered above them. The shelter was the only building in sight, and the students felt a sense of excitement and trepidation. One of the five second-year students, a tall and confident young man, greeted the students and introduced himself as Paul. "Welcome, everyone," Paul said, his voice clear and authoritative. "I've been here before to carry out exercises, and I can tell you that teamwork has always been the key to winning. So, I want to remind you all to play fair and square, even though this is a competition." Paul paused, surveying the students. "The team that deals the final kill blow has the right to collect the beast crystals. An intermediate crystal is five points, an advanced tier crystal is ten points, the points double, the higher the tier. So, let's get started! You have until the countdown is over to collect as many crystals as you can. Good luck, and let's go!" With that, Paul sent the teams out, and everyone went in their own direction. Rylan, Drake, and John headed straight into the forest around the mountain, ready to hunt beasts. As they walked, Rylan felt a sense of excitement and nervousness. He had never been on a hunt before, and he wasn't sure what to expect. But with Drake and John by his side, he felt a sense of confidence. Even though they were a team, they were going to work together to collect as many crystals as they could. "Let's do this," Drake said, grinning at his friends. “I'll take the front, John, how good is your ability?” Drake asked. “ For now, I can fire small chunks of Earth towards my opponent.” John replied. “Good, you will be our long range attacker, you'll attack from afar.” Drake said. He turned to Rylan. “ As for you, Rylan, you will be our last line of defense. Your gauntlets are perfect to deliver the finishing blow.” Drake said. They all nodded and headed deeper into the forest. Suddenly, the team encountered their first group of beasts. The beasts were six in number, and they were a type of wolf-like creature known as "Shadow Stalkers." The Shadow Stalkers had the ability to blend into the shadows, making them nearly invisible in the dimly lit forest, then they would pounce out to strike with their deadly claws and sharp teeth. Drake, with his gravitos ability, took the lead. He used his power to manipulate the gravity around him, creating a localized gravity field that made it difficult for the Shadow Stalkers to move. John, with his earth manipulation ability, stood at a distance, firing small chunks of earth at the Shadow Stalkers. The earth projectiles didn't deal much damage, but they helped to distract the Shadow Stalkers and disrupt their attacks. Rylan, with his agility and martial arts skills, darted between the Shadow Stalkers, using his gauntlet's deadly claws to strike at their vulnerable spots. However, his heart condition began to act up, and he found himself growing tired quicker than he had anticipated. Despite their individual strengths and weaknesses, the team worked together seamlessly, using their unique abilities to take down the Shadow Stalkers one by one. As they defeated the last Shadow Stalker, the team let out a collective sigh of relief. They had worked together and had come out on top. "Not bad," Drake said, grinning at his teammates. "We make a pretty good team." Rylan nodded, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "We definitely do." John smiled, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "And we're just getting started. Let's go find some more beasts to hunt!" The team laughed. They sliced open the chest of the beasts, and collected the six crystals before resuming on their journey. As the team continued to hunt, they came across the girls, who were standing triumphantly over a pile of beast crystals. Rylan noticed that Kyra's sword was emitting the faint glow as it used to, with black blood making the glow barely visible. That's when he realized that it was at least an advanced tier sword, far surpassing the intermediate tier weapons that his team had. And that was why the girls had made so much progress. He remembered Colonel Glenn's words about how weapons could make him stronger, and now he has seen it first hand. He made up his mind that one day, he would get a better weapon. Kyra caught Rylan's gaze and smiled smugly. "Looks like we're doing pretty well, huh?" she said. "You guys might want to look for another spot. This one's already been cleaned out." Drake snorted. "Whatever," he said, and the team headed deeper into the forest. As they walked, John spoke up, his voice laced with concern. "Guys, isn't this a bit dangerous? We're going deeper into the forest, and we don't know what kind of beasts we'll run into." Drake shrugged. "We have no choice. We need to get as many crystals as we can, and that means taking risks." Suddenly, a beast stepped out of the underbrush, its eyes fixed on the team. It was twice their height, and its massive body was covered in thick, scaly skin. The team exchanged nervous glances, and John whispered, "What is that thing?" The beast was a "Groteus," a type of advanced tier beast that was known for its incredible strength and its ability to manipulate the earth. The Groteus could create massive earthquakes and tremors, making it a formidable opponent. Drake's eyes narrowed as he sized up the beast. "It's strong, but it's alone," he said. "We have the number advantage. Let's take it down!" The rest of the team nodded, feeling nervous. The team decided to use the same strategy they have been using on the rest of the intermediate beast. John shot out Earthly projectiles, but the best responded with its own projectiles which were way larger and harder than John's own. “Watch out!" Rylan called out, feeling concerned for John. Luckily John saw the incoming attack on time, and dodged. As they fought, the team did their best to take down the beast, but it seemed to be too powerful for them. Despite their valiant efforts, they were unable to deal a significant blow to the beast. Drake accessed the situation and saw that at this rate, they would run out of energy, and out of ability cells to use. Determined to emerge victorious, he decided to charge in alone. The beast, sensing its opportunity, disturbed the ground beneath Drake's feet, causing him to stumble. “Blake be careful,” Rylan yelled in concern. He felt so useless, all he could do was stand there and watch his team mates risk their lives, when he couldn't help. However, Drake refused to give up. He knew that he had to kill the beast if he wanted to protect his teammates. He decided to sacrifice all of his ability cells, which would take time to regenerate. With a fierce cry, Drake used his last energy to raise the beast right up into the air by turning off the gravity around the beast. Then, he took out his two daggers and waited below. When the beast came crashing down, it landed on the two daggers, screaming in pain. Drake noticed that he had dealt a significant blow, but the daggers didn't penetrate deep enough. He needed something to go deeper, and then he saw John standing there with his sword. "John, hand over your sword!" Drake shouted.John didn't hesitate for a moment, he quickly handed over his sword, knowing that Drake was their only way to win the beast. Drake quickly approached the beast, which was still weak from the previous attack. With a swift and deadly motion, Drake was ready to plunge the sword into the beast's heart. But just as he was about to deliver the final blow, flames came from nowhere and burned the beast to death. The team turned to see who had intervened, and their eyes fell on Rizzo and his team, who were
Today was another day the notorious Clayborn Guild brought terror to Ravenshire village. As a group of ruthless earth ability users, they exploited their powers to prey on the weak. An elderly fishmonger sat outside his humble cottage, desperately trying to sell the last few fish on his tray. His peaceful afternoon was shattered when members of the guild approached him, snatching his purse and attempting to wrestle it from his grasp. "Just let it go, old man," one thief sneered, pulling harder. "I beg of you, don't take this money. It's everything I've sold since this morning. That's all I have left to live on," the old man pleaded, kneeling down, his hands still attached to his purse. The old man's strength was no match for the young thieves. His grip slowly loosened, and he finally let go. The thieves smiled, satisfied with their victory. "You shouldn't have tried, old man. It was pointless," they mocked. As they turned to leave, a voice spoke from behind in a commanding ton
The next day was the day of ability testing at the military academy. Rylan woke up to the distant horn of the military train, which had stopped at Ravenshire Village to carry the new students. He quickly freshened up and ran past Gaius, who was making breakfast in the kitchen. "I'm off to school Gaius, see you later!" Rylan called out as he rushed past. "Wait, aren't you going to eat?" Gaious asked, holding up a plate of steaming hot fish stew. "I'll eat when I get back," Rylan replied, already halfway out the door. "I don't want to be late!" With that, he vanished from the house and made his way to the train station. When he arrived, the train was already preparing to leave, but Rylan managed to slip in just in time. "You're late, soldier!" a stern voice called out as Rylan entered the train. "I'm sorry about that," Rylan replied, out of breath. "Take a seat!" the sergeant replied in a commanding tone. Rylan turned around to find a seat, and was immediately struck by the si
As Rylan and the rest of the four other students followed Colonel Glenn, they were led to a hall. When they stepped in, their eyes widened in admiration. The hall was filled with futuristic weapons hanging on the wall. They had the form of basic human weapons, such as swords and guns, but the technology used to make them was far beyond ordinary human understanding. The hall looked like a training hall, with a large open space in the center and various obstacles and targets scattered around the perimeter. In the hall, two teachers dressed in military attire turned to face them. One was a woman with a tablet in her hand, and the other was a hooded mysterious man. Colonel Glenn introduced the woman. "This is Jane, and she will be the one conducting the testing today." Jane smiled and nodded at the students. "Hello, everyone. I'll be evaluating your abilities and combat levels today. Please don't worry, it's just a routine test." Colonel Glenn continued. "The five of you will be se
Rylan trudged through the front door, his shoulders slumped in disappointment. He had been so sure that he would awaken an ability like the originals, but it seemed that fate had other plans.Gaius, who was sitting on the couch, looked up at Rylan's sad face and asked, "Well?"Rylan shook his head, feeling a pang of disappointment. "I didn't awaken an ability," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.Gaius's expression softened, and he got up from the couch to put a comforting hand on Rylan's shoulder. "It's okay, Rylan," he said. "Not everyone awakens an ability right away. You're still young, and you have plenty of time to develop your skills."Rylan sighed, feeling a small sense of comfort at Gaius's words. He reached into his backpack and pulled out the wind ability book that he had received as a consolation prize."I did get this, though," Rylan said, holding up the book. He had no choice but to accept Rizzo's ultimatum."Fine," he muttered. "I'll apply for a group change."Rizzo sneered at him. "Good choice, weakling.
