Chapter Fifty-three

Norah and Charles had had a tumultuous week, but now, it was Saturday, and a certain peace had settled upon them after getting rid of Emma completely from their lives and taking measures to stop Emma from trying to harm them or even come close to them without their permission. Both felt a lingering satisfaction that was quite invisible to anyone’s eye from the way they carried themselves.

“Charles,” Norah called from the kitchen, “I’m thinking of heading out to grab some groceries. We’re running low on milk, and we need a few other things.”

Charles, sitting in the living room, looked up from his book. “Sure, I’ll come with you. I don’t mind.”

Norah smiled, appreciating his offer. “Thanks, but you’ve had a long week. I can handle it on my own. Besides, it’s just a quick run to the store.”

Charles nodded, understanding. “Alright, but if you change your mind or need anything, just give me a call.”
