Chapter Forty-three
Charles sat in the sterile hospital room, his eyes fixed on Norah, who lay frail and vulnerable. Monitors surrounded her, a clear contrast to her usual elegant and lively self. The soft hum of the medical equipment filled the air, providing a backdrop to Charles’ thoughts. Selena also sat in a chair beside the bed, offering silent support. They had been here for days, watching over Norah as she fought to get back her health fully after that tragic fire.

The fire had been a nightmare to Norah. She remembered the chaos all too well, the blaring alarms, and the thick, dark smoke that had filled the building. For Charles, what haunted him most was the sight of Norah being crushed under the fallen debris, and when she was wheeled out of the building, her unconscious form covered in soot and ash.

It was a miracle Norah had survived, if he had not arrived when he did, she would have suffocated before the fire spread through the floors. Now Charles was determined to be there for her every step
