Chapter Sixty-four
Norah’s tears fell freely as Charles held her close in the living room of their grand mansion. The evening sun had set, it was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, but it had turned into a nightmare they couldn’t wake from.

The memories of that chaotic scene flooded Norah’s mind. Emma had announced, her voice filled with venom, “Charles is the father of my child!” The gasps and whispers that followed had been deafening. It was a shocking revelation that no one had expected.

She recounted her conversation with Charles, after he had calmed down, “Norah, I swear to you, it’s not true, I haven’t even been with Emma for almost a year. I love you, and only you.”

Norah had looked into Charles’ eyes, searching for the truth. She trusted him with all her heart, but the vile accusations that had been hurled at him, during their crashed wedding were still ringing in her ears.

“I believe you, Charles,” Norah had finally said, her voice quivering.
