Chapter Thirty-six

Charles’s heart pounded in his chest as panic overtook him. “Norah!” he screamed, desperately hoping to hear her voice in response.

He raced through the smoke-filled corridors of the floor. Flames lapped at the walls, and the scent of burning wood and plastic hung heavy in the air. He ran across the blazing corridor, searching for any sign of Norah. His eyes stung from the smoke, and his breath came in frantic gasps. The smoke alarm blared loudly, adding to the chaotic scene. Charles pushed forward, determined to find his beloved Norah, his worry growing with each passing second.

“Norah!” Charles called out again, the desperation in his voice echoing through the inferno. His frantic search led him to her office, but it was empty. Fear clawed at his heart as he stumbled further into the burning building.
