“Aw!” Ethan immediately looked at his finger after being scratched by the ceramic shard. It turned out that the shards from the ceramic vase were sharper than he had expected. Blood began to ooze out of the wound and slowly dripped onto the floor. Ethan looked at the wound with an exhale. “I haven't bled in a long time.”

Instantly there was the sound of someone running over from behind. It was Sonia Blake, Ethan's mother-in-law. Her eyes were wide open when she came up to Ethan, her face looking bright red.

Without hesitation, the middle-aged woman hit the back of Ethan's head, making the man a little dizzy. When Ethan turned his head, it turned out that the woman hit him with a fist. No wonder the blow felt quite hard.

Sonia looked at the ceramic vase. “You idiot! Do you know how much this vase is worth? It's even more valuable than all your things in this house.”

Ethan immediately picked up the fragments while looking down and in a hurry. “I'm sorry, Mom. I accidentally nudged it while cleaning it.”

Sonia clucked her tongue. Instead, she saw blood starting to drip on the floor because of Ethan's injured finger. That made Sonia even more upset. “Did you really clean it? From what I can see, you just made my floor dirtier. Even the kitchen floor still looks dirty because of your incompetence!”

Ethan turned his head. “But, I already mopped it twice, Mom--”

“Shut up!” Sonia snapped while glaring. “A useless man like you doesn't deserve to call me mom! And clean up all this immediately. I won't leave dinner for you if I see dust on the floor.”

Ethan nodded. “Alright, Mom.”

Hearing the word 'Mom' come out of Ethan's mouth again, Sonia couldn't stand it. She left Ethan there with a face full of anger. Meanwhile, Ethan got more cuts on his fingers from hurriedly holding the sharp ceramics.

Ethan had often been injured, but this was the first time Ethan had been injured to the point of bleeding after three years of living in the Blake family residence. Every day Ethan was treated poorly like this. All this was because Ethan had become an unexpected son-in-law for the Blake family. Ethan did not work, nor was he a descendant of a rich man. He was in this house because Sonia's father asked him to marry Thalia, Sonia's daughter. As a student who deeply respected his mentor, Ethan carried out his mentor's last request before he died.

However, the marriage to Thalia Blake was not as happy as Ethan had imagined. It turned out to be a painful one. Ethan was treated like a slave here. Every day he cooked, washed, and cleaned the house. He did all these things for no reward. Ethan couldn't even afford to buy a shirt. He was really like a slave in the old days. His pride was being stepped on, but Ethan persisted because he had hope in Thalia. You could say, Ethan started to fall in love with Thalia.

Ethan put a plaster on his finger and mopped the stained floor. A little sweat appeared on his forehead. “Next time I need to take it slow.”

Ethan tried to be positive about all this. At the very least, he needed to be patient because he knew there was still hope for Thalia. A beautiful woman with round blue eyes. She was tall and also had ideal body proportions.

She was the same as her mother. She liked to belittle and scold Ethan. Her words were harsh, sometimes even hitting Ethan. However, she didn't completely hate Ethan. About two weeks ago Thalia came home with a flushed face. From the smell, it looked like she was drunk. On a rainy night, Thalia suddenly seduced Ethan. Finally, they had intercourse for the first time after 3 years of marriage. However, in the morning, Thalia got angry and kicked Ethan out of bed. She even threw things at Ethan that were there.

At least, that night Ethan felt loved by Thalia. It grew Ethan's affection for Thalia. He needed to survive in order to truly win Thalia's heart.

A few hours later, Ethan had dinner ready. He set it on the table. Then he heard the doorbell ring. He immediately frowned. “Is that Thalia? Strange... why didn't she open the door and press the bell instead?”

Ethan then approached the door and opened it. Sure enough, it was Thalia. However, it wasn't just Thalia. There was a man who embraced Thalia. Instantly Ethan furrowed his brow.

Thalia looked very drunk and limp, she raised her head while smiling at Ethan. “Oh... you are... that fool Ethan.”

Even in her drunkenness, Thalia still had time to insult Ethan. Meanwhile, Ethan's eyes were fixed on the man. He was Edward Chulkin, the one who had always wanted Thalia. What was he here for?

Edward raised one eyebrow. “I didn't expect you to be the first one I saw after knocking on this house. What an annoying sight. Thalia needs to rest. Where is her room?”

“Let me take her.” Ethan was about to grab Thalia, but his hand was immediately rejected by Thalia herself.

Thalia angrily pointed at Ethan's face. “Don't touch me, you idiot! Just show me the way!”

Finally Ethan opened the door wider so Edward could escort Thalia to the room. Edward gave Ethan a small smile, feeling victorious.

After delivering Thalia and laying her down on the bed, Edward quickly exited the room. He looked back at Ethan in front of the room. Ethan continued to stare intently at Edward. Edward looked up slightly and let out his frivolous smile again. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Ethan furrowed his brow. “Why is Thalia with you?”

Edward smiled lightly. “None of your business, Ethan. There's no point in me telling you.”

The smile from Edward was so irritating. He was deliberately provoking Ethan. However, there was no point for Ethan to make trouble with this man. He would be leaving soon anyway.

As soon as Edward was about to walk away, Sonia came up to him with a big smile. “Edward, are you taking Thalia home?”

Edward smiled as he nodded. “She was a little drunk, so I drove her. She'll sober up soon.”

Sonia nodded. She glanced at her semi-conscious daughter. “I think she will sober up soon. Since she'll sober up soon, why don't you wait for him? We're actually having dinner.”

Suddenly Ethan's eyes immediately glanced at Sonia. Why did this woman even offer him to stay longer?

Edward even looked happy. “Oh of course. I'm very honored by your invitation.”

Sonia nodded happily at Edward's answer. However, her expression turned fierce when she turned to Ethan. “Hey, idiot, prepare one more plate. We have an important guest! Besides, we have a family party today. Don't embarrass me!”

Ethan had no choice but to follow his mother-in-law's orders. He rushed to the kitchen and prepared plates and utensils for Edward. From a distance, Sonia and Edward were chatting intimately, even laughing together. Something Ethan had never done together with Sonia.

Today Thalia told Ethan to cook a lot of dishes, because his uncle, aunt, and two cousins were coming. So Ethan cooked a big turkey. A very delicious dish. Unfortunately, Edward joined the small party.

About half an hour before dinner, the other family members showed up. They joined Edward in a friendly conversation. Leaving Ethan busy preparing the large meal.

When dinner arrived, everyone sat down in front of the dining table. Including Edwrad. Thalia was also there although she still held her head several times due to dizziness.

Ethan brought her a glass of water and placed it in front of Thalia. “Drink a little to ease your dizziness.”

Instead of thanking him, Thalia furrowed her brows and waved her hand. “Stay away! I can take care of myself.”

Ethan finally sat down. Everyone enjoyed the meal. They nodded because they thought everything was delicious. Unfortunately, Edward, who was also enjoying the meal, spoiled Ethan's mood.

Not long after, Thalia put down her fork and knife. She said. “Everyone, I have an announcement. Even though dad and other extended family members aren't around, I want mom and the others to know about this. Ethan and I are getting a divorce, and then I'm getting married to Edward.”

Instantly Ethan glared. It was so sudden. However, the expressions on the faces of Thalia and the other family members were happy. They smiled after hearing Thalia's words. Why?

“Thalia, you're kidding, right?” Ethan tried to smile even though his heart was beating very fast at the moment. “You came home drunk. You must not be fully sober yet--”“I'm really going to divorce you, Ethan!” Thalia cut Ethan off without hesitation. She looked at Ethan sharply. It wasn't an ordinary stare, but like someone who hated for a long time.Ethan frowned. “What did I do to make you say that, Thalia?”Thalia clicked her tongue. She rolled her eyes, disdaining the question asked by Ethan. “Of course it's because you're useless, Ethan. What else could you be? Your presence here only adds to the burden of the Blake family. With you being so poor and unemployed, do you think I'd be proud to tell people that you're my husband? Think about it with that shallow brain of yours!”Ethan was confused by this situation. If that was the reason, why hadn't Thalia said so from the start? Ethan wasn't a lazy person who couldn't work. “Thalia, I can work. If that's what you want, I'll do it

Standing at a slight angle as if showing her power in front of Ethan. “It turns out you're still alive, Legendary Demon Hunter, Ethan Hunter.”Ethan narrowed his eyes when he saw this woman. A woman who was too beautiful with very fair skin and long silver hair. At a glance, her tall body was a little full. That body had perfect muscles. Ethan could tell that this woman was strong enough to fight. The fact that she was a General in the Hunters organization was proof that this woman was not a person who can be underestimated. The woman stuck out her hand. “Cornellia Bridgit, General of the Hunters. He immediately looked back. “Niko, Fernand, why are you guys so quiet?”Edward's two friends immediately stood in front of Ethan while glaring at Ethan. They acted like people with power. Unfortunately, such intimidating behavior had no effect on a former General like Ethan. So, Ethan looked at them casually while giving a faint smile.Niko held the collar of Ethan's shirt. “From your smile, you must have done it on purpose. You're looking to die, aren't you?”Ethan pointed at Edward. “He's the one who scared me.
