How to use a Space Ring

Shian slowly and gently studied the egg in his hands.

It was jet black in colour and didn't reflect light, however, it seemed like it was absorbing light instead, as a result, the hole he was in was getting darker by the moment.

The egg had a similar spiraling marking on it just like on the chest, but instead it had red markings on it, unlike the chest which had black markings.

He carefully got out of the hole with the egg in his hands, forgetting to check the remaining things in the chest.

He placed it on the table and studied it for some minutes, however, he got nothing from it. He placed the egg carefully on a chair and went back into the hole, he picked up the chest and took it out, he glanced at the warhammer in disdain, snorted and left with the chest in his hands, he began to remove the things in it, one after the other.

He took out a scroll and opened it. In it was a single word.

He opened another which also had the word.

"It looks like all this scrolls are useless!" Shian spat out evidently annoyed. He shoved his hands into the chest and began to bring out the scrolls in bunches and stacking them neatly by his side, by the time he was done, a mountain of scrolls was lying beside him.

"Voilà. Finally done." Shian said triumphantly. "Now where is that space ring father talked about."

Shian searched for it for some minutes before finally seeing a circular thingy that was too small, for even the pinky finger of a new born child to enter.

"Don't tell me this is it, how is it supposed to enter my finger." Shian tried it to see if it will magically fit, and surprisingly, without warning the ring expanded to his fingers size and it slipped perfectly into the ring.

"Well, that's nice, I know if father was here right now he will be proud of me." Shian turned to a photo of him and his father hanging on the wall. He smiled dryly and looked back into the chest.

"I guess there's nothing inside this chest again, then let's practice using this space ring." Shian pointed the finger where the ring was in the direction of the pile of scrolls, and tried to think of summoning them into the space ring.

Shian strained himself, desperately trying to make the scrolls enter the space ring. He tried and tried but nothing happened, so he gave up and packed the scrolls to a corner. He picked up the chest, placed it back into the open hole in the middle of the living room and pushed a couch so that it covered it properly to prevent him from falling into it.

He went into his room and began to pack all his belongings into a bag. He had formulated a plan for his quest.

The entrance test for the Academy was in two months, so he had two months to prepare for it. First he was going to enter a beast realms to hunt Basic Tier Beasts to get their crystals.

In the world today, the animals that had tapped into the blessing, evolved, depending on the amount of the power absorbed into their body. The humans, to make things easier, divided them into Tiers which are.

Mythical

Legendary.

After packing all of the things he was going to need, he once again tried to summon something into the space ring. He tried for hours straight until it was dark. He turned on the lights but unfortunately, the bulbs sparked before blowing up one after the other. Shian was left standing in the dark all alone. He brought out a lighter from his pocket and switched it on.

He went to the weapons room and brought out a lantern, a beast equipment, one of the items in his father's collections, his father had a lot of items made out of beast crystals, ranging from small things –like a lighter, spoon etc– to big things that couldn't be described with words.

Shian placed the lantern on the table and began to slowly read all the words on the scrolls one after the other. After reading them all, he made a mental note of the words just in case he needed to remember them. He got up and went to the bathroom to have a shower, after his bath, he came outside and lay down on the bed to sleep.

Shian woke up the next morning, took his bath and picked up his bag, on second thought he went back inside to try the space ring again. He sat on the ground in a lotus position and placed a piece of paper on the ground before him, Shian silently breathed out and imagined the paper disappearing into the space ring. He thought of a connection being made between his mind, the ring and the paper. After thinking of it he slowly opened his eyes and the piece of paper was no longer there. Shian was so happy he momentarily forgot he had somewhere to go. Shian then went to the pile of scrolls and began the process again and to his surprise, it worked.

Some hours later Shian could be seen sitting on the floor of an empty house, with a stupid expression on his face.

"I did it, I really did it" Shian said with a grin. He closed his eyes and his consciousness slipped into the ring, he was standing in what looked like a 100x100x100meter wide room. He willed for a 'book' to be in his hands and instantly the 'book' appeared in his hands.

Happy with the results, he placed the 'book' back into the space ring and got up, ready to leave. Shian suddenly frowned then brought out the 'book' he just returned. He looked at the 'book' in his hands and realized that it wasn't a book but a thick piece of paper instead, when he unfolded it, his frown deepened and he squeezed the paper thoroughly before throwing it against the wall.

The reason for his action was because, inside the paper were the words.
