Too late!
Was all that came into the minds of the students as they watched Max disappear together with the beast.
It was all like a dream to his group members especially Harry who Max was talking to before he disappeared. They didn't know how the beast was able to break out from the ice without anyone knowing, not even Emily saw it coming. To think the basic beast would be able to break from her intermediate ice spell was something that baffled her."Max," Harry called out in fright as he stared at the empty space not too far away from them. That was the spot Max was standing previously. He began to walk towards the place and when he got there, it shocked him how the ground looked normal like nothing happened there."What should we do? We need to find him!" Harry said, turning his attention to Kelvin who also looked shocked but not to the point of doing anything.
"There is nothing we can do Harry, we can't possibly enter the ground. Besides, it could be a plan to lure us all into its trap. As a leader, I say we should follow other students and begin our tests," Kelvin said without blinking and began to walk away, the others sighed and followed after him not wanting to be left behind.
"Are you guys seriously leaving him behind? What if he's not dead?" Harry persisted, not planning on backing down.
"Hey, we can't do a thing to save him. Consider him a dead man already." Evelyn said and walked away.
Harry's face darkened as he stared at the ground, "I'm sorry that I can't save you, there is nothing I can do but to hope that you'll be alive," he mumbled to himself and then opened his backpack. He brought out a dagger with his name on it and then placed it on the ground before joining the others.

"Argh! Where are my?" Max groaned as he opened his eyes, he held his head which was in pain and tried to stand to his feet but just then he fell to his knees. " My legs are weak," he growled and decided to sit for a while in hope that his legs would get better soon.
After some time, he got up and this time he was able to stand perfectly on his feet, he began to walk around the place. The entire place looked like a cave and was somehow dark if not for the light that penetrated inside through the holes on the walls."The hell is this place?" Max asked in shock while looking around. "Th-those are skeletons, human skeletons! But how?" The shock and panic on his face could not be hidden as he stared at the numerous skeletons and bones that were piled up in the corner where he had just entered. He looked ahead of him and there he saw an entrance, he out of curiosity began to walk towards the entrance. The moment he stepped his foot out of the place, he was shocked by what he saw.
"Holy sh–" Before he could complete his sentence, the entire horde of man-eating sand crabs turned around and let out a shrieking roar upon seeing him. Now, he could get a better view of them — they looked just like normal crabs but at the same time looked horrible. They had the body of a crab, same with their hands and legs but they were all covered in scales, from their backs were tails that looked like that of a Scorpion.Max didn't have the time to wonder what they were as they began to approach him with their red eyes and their tails pointed out towards his direction.*Ding*<<Basic Level>>
<<Kill the entire hordes>><<Rewards: A new skill>>Max upon seeing the quest had a smirk appear on his lips, he felt that he would be able to kill them as they were only basic levels. "I guess the bigger one is not here so it'll be easy to deal with these, I just need a bit of bravery," Max says as he enters back into the cave.
'Time to make use of you' he thought inwardly as those gloves appeared on his hands, he closed his eyes and tried to focus his mind on himself, the gloves vibrated as If they'd been waiting for too long.

A Series of notifications popped up as Max kept battling with the ferocious man-eating crabs. Who said he could deal with them just fine simply because they were basic levels, that was a total lie to himself.
One would not be able to recognise him if they should see him in the state he is at the moment. His clothes were torn already, showing some parts of his bruised body, his eyes were swollen with gashes that extended from one side of his face to the another. He was losing blood, his eyes were closing so were his legs also getting weak. But he refused to give up, not when his life was at stake.
On both sides were countless dead bodies of those crabs lying in a bloodied mess yet, more were still falling as dark-red liquids kept flying across the place into those crabs and shredding them immediately. Max didn't care where and how these crabs were being shredded, he only knew one thing. 'How incredible his blood skill is'
"Five more to go" Max groaned as he rested his back against the wall of the cave, he wiped off the blood from his face, the blood of which he didn't know if it belonged to him or the crabs he was killing. He looked down at his left leg and gasped, his leg was turning black at a faster rate. "Damn those poisons!" he cursed with his teeth, he didn't know the poisons on the tails of these crabs would be so dangerous as making his leg turn black.
He turned his gaze to the remaining five crabs and gritted his teeth, with the strength he could muster, he dragged his left leg up and stood, supporting himself with the wall. He activated his gloves again and began to swipe his blood on the remaining crabs.
*Ding*<< -10% blood>><<Blood Level: 50/100>>The first one was done and it remained four others, they attacked him fearlessly with anger, one of the four sped off and came behind Max while the other three were keeping him busy, it gave him a sting in his back."Argh!" Max yelled from the sudden sharp pain, he turned abruptly and shot the daring crab a glare, he swiped his right claws at it and blood burst out of them and shredded the crab to pieces. Out of nowhere, another crab gave him a gash from behind causing him to groan in pain.
"Damn you!" He roared as he turned around and swiped his claws at it. The last one tried to run but Max didn't let it escape and killed it as well. "Finally!" He let out a sigh as he fell to the ground.

...
Just as he closed his heavy eyes, he heard some movements and when he looked at the entrance.
"Oh No!"
'This is it! This is the end for me!' Max thought to himself as he stared at the enormous crab that had just walked into the cave carrying a human boy in its hand, it turned around and seeing all the dead crabs let out an angry shrieking roar that shook the entire cave. It angered it a lot to see its dead comrades scattered around the whole place in their piles of blood. The enormous crab flung the boy he was holding causing him to slam his back against the hard wall and then fell to the ground then it began to dash towards Max. Max didn't see it coming, it ran at an unseeable speed and when it got to where Max was lying, it clawed at him giving him a deep tear from his neck down to his chest. Max felt the burning pain, he wanted to scream but he could not find his voice. He tried to get up but it was a failed attempt, blood kept gushing out without stopping. He gradually opened his hazy eyes and looked ahead, there, was the crab coming at him
"Argh!" Max yelled as a blinding light engulfed him, he began to rise until he was standing in the air. The crab tried to attack it but each time it makes contact with the blinding light, it would be sent flying away. After many failed attempts, it stopped and watched the human boy in a confused state. Slowly yet rapidly, the bruises, cuts and gashes all over his body began to close up until there were none left.*Ding*>>>>>>>>>>>>>><
His fingers trembled, his brows knitted together, his eyes flickered a bit and slowly they began to open until his blue eyes came into view. His eyes wandered around him until he spotted Max laying close to him with his eyes tightly shut, he abruptly got up and went over to Max to check his impulse."He isn't breathing!" He exclaimed and removed his hands from under Max's nose, his face darkened as he remembered what happened. Just before Max collapsed, Zheren's mind had begun to function, he became aware of what Max was doing to him, he would never have believed that someone would risk his life just to save him. He let out a sigh and sat close to Max's body, "I don't know how you were able to bring me back alive but no matter what it is, I'll forever be indebted to you and will follow you. I may not be able to protect you just yet but I will work hard to regain my lost powers and my title, after that no one would ever hurt you again." Zheren's first clenched so tight as he remembere
"Who are you?" Asked Max with a curious look as he stared at the figure of a man who was standing not too far away from him. He was supposed to be startled by the appearance of the manly figure but surprisingly he wasn't, he felt as though they were connected somehow."My name is Yama," the man said calmly. His eyes glittered as he stared at Max. "Do you know me?" he added."I don't! I should be asking you that because you approached me yourself," Max said still with his gaze fixed on the man."If I am correct, you awakened the remaining part of me during your breakthrough. I am quite surprised to be honest, for a mere human to awaken me is something I never expected even when I was still asleep." Yama said, his voice filled with surprise."I awakened you?" Max asked in shock. 'That explains the strange voice I was hearing during...' he stopped his thoughts halfway and returned his gaze to Yama who was patiently waiting for him to ask questions. "Were you the one speaking through me?"
Max closed his eyes still and tried to fully fix his attention on the dark energies around him. He may not know why the system requests that he absorb the energies but one thing is for sure and that is his desire to get stronger. After some time, he opened his inner eyes and he could see the dark energies and how they were raging around his soul. It was like they wanted to tear his soul apart but something kept stopping them.Max channelled his mind to the energies and began to draw them to himself, the dark energies felt his presence and suddenly they gathered around and began to form until they formed into the shadow of a man."Are you strong enough to withstand my powers?" Max heard a voice ask him through the shadow of the man. He kept silent for some time as he didn't know if he could be able to do it. At the same time, be wanted to do it because of the rewards attached to it by the system."Yes, I can!" Max replied and without waiting for the shadow to reply to him, he gathere
Zheren led Max through the dark hallway until they got to another building. Then he suddenly stopped and turned around causing Max to almost fall. "Max, I don't know how you were able to do it but I want to say thank you for bringing me back to life and for healing me. Damon said I am now a demon, it came as a shock to me considering my status before but I do not mind that again," Zheren said in a low voice then let out an inaudible sigh."I did what I had to do so you don't have to be like that, besides you saved me," Max replied with a slight smile on his face. "About the demon stuff, well I happened to be favoured by Damon and so I was able to turn into a demon, I guess it was a bit of luck that I was able to bring you back to life. As you have seen, I am not yet strong enough which explains why I fainted. By the way, how many days have I been asleep?" "Two days I guess," Zheren replied to Max's shock."Two days? Hell! I need to return to school," Max said as he remembered someth
"Kelvin, you guys have to hurry to the dorms, Nat and Max are about to fight!" A student yelled as he saw Kelvin, Harry and Matt."Max?""Max?"Harry and Kelvin asked in unison, the shocked expression on their faces could not be hidden. "How is that possible?" Kelvin asked in incredulity as he turned to Harry for an answer."We should go and check it out first," Harry replied and ran off. Part of him was overjoyed while the other part was in doubt, Max couldn't be back from the portal and alive. Nevertheless, he ran to the dorms and when he got there, he saw the crowd of students had already gathered around and mumbling hell knows not to themselves.Harry made his way through the crowd of students until he got to the front, where he saw Max being pushed to the wall by Nat. "Max!" He called as he rushed over immediately and stopped Nat from punching Max in the face."Hey man, you just woke up! Can't you rest a bit?" Harry asked as he held the angry Nat who was struggling to free hims
Max stormed inside the room and then slumped on his bed, his face was squeezed and his fists were clenched. Zheren also walked inside the room after some time, he glanced at Max and seeing his angry face could not help but sigh. He understood how he felt at the moment because he too had been in the same situation before. Nevertheless, he walked to Max and sat close to him, placing a hand on his shoulder he comforted him as a friend would — This was what Max needed at a time like this, a reminder that he has a friend who believes in him and will stand by him. After some time of comforting, Max calmed down. His face returned to its normal mood and his rising chest completely fell. Thanks to Zheren who knew how to use words just perfectly. After Zheren fell asleep because he mentioned that he was sleepy, Max took a shower because he knew how bad he smelled. After that, he wore light clothes and left the room after glancing at the Zheren. When he got outside, he began to make his way tow
