Green Portal

Under the scorching sun of a plain area that had no trees not even an ounce of life were about a hundred to two hundred students all sweating and frowning their faces. Some used their hands to fan themselves while others used a piece of cloth or anything usable. The sun was too much – it was so unbearable that the students were no longer excited as they had been earlier, even the ground they were stepping on was hot.

"Why are you feeling so comfortable?" Kelvin could not help but ask Evelyn. Since they had arrived at the green portal, she hadn't for once complained or even frowned, worst of it all was that she wasn't sweating like her sister who almost wanted to pull her clothes off if not for the gaze of her twin.

"It's because she has the fire ability," Emily replied while wiping the sweat off her forehead. The group finally understood why Evelyn felt so comfortable and calm.

'Fire ability huh? Sounds cool, it's no wonder her gaze is so fierce and piercing' Max thought inwardly. When he was about to look at her again, he felt her gaze on him and this time it was more piercing than before. He felt like she wanted to tear his heart apart.

"Hey, can you stop staring at me that way? I am not owning you," Max suddenly said, making everyone turn their attention to him.

"And why would I stop staring at you? It's not like you look great!" Evelyn replied with a hiss and looked away.

"Come on both of you, it's not time for this," Harry said as he stared at the two. "We should get going and find some beasts or we'll remain here more than we should."

Other students had begun to move around the dessert-like place while they were still in one spot doing nothing.

"It's her! tell her to stop looking at me that way or...." Max didn't finish his statement when he suddenly felt like the ground he was standing on moved. He creased his brows and stayed quiet, the others stared at him confusingly and when Harry opened his mouth to talk, Max hurriedly covered his mouth.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Mad or something?" Kelvin asked with annoyance and impatience.

"Shhh! stop talking, I feel something is moving under the sand," Max said slowly. His ears were already perked up but still, he wasn't able to hear anything.

"Stop saying trash and let's get going," Kelvin scoffed and made to leave before he was suddenly sent flying up in the sky.

"Watch ou–"

Before Harry could finish talking, an enormous beast rose from the ground into the sky it was after Kelvin who was in the sky as well.

"What in the world is that?"

"It's so huge!"

The students could not help but gasp upon seeing how huge the beast is. They watched as the beast flew after Kelvin in an attempt to attack him.

"Holy shit! Harry do something please, that thing is after Kelvin!" Matt yelled his lungs out as they stared at the beast in horror.

Harry shook out of his trace and immediately clasped his hands together, opening them slowly, a ball of energy formed in between both palms. He directed his line of sight to the enormous beast and threw the ball of energy at it.

As the ball hit the beast, it turned and looked down from the sky with something that seemed like a sneer on its face. He directed its gaze to Harry who had attacked and let out a shrieking roar. He stopped going after Kelvin and turned around, at a speed that could not be seen by anyone, it made its way towards Harry.

Harry saw the beast coming....everyone saw it coming down from the sky but not one of them moved an inch, it was like they were all impelled by the beast to not be able to do anything.

"Someone should help me!" Kelvin screamed as he fell downwards, his scream brought everyone out of the daze.

"Catch him while I distract that thing!" Emily said to Harry and moved out of where she was standing previously. She closed her eyes and soon the air around her began to get dense until the air became cold and freezing. She opened her eyes and they flickered with ice, she turned her gaze to the beast and mumbled something only she heard. Ice particles began to form around her body and then she began to rise until she was standing in the air.

"Oh my god! She looks so cool!"

"And pretty too!"

"It'll be good if she becomes my girlfriend."

"Too much of a show, hmmph!"

The students from other groups could not help but stare at Emily with their eyes wide open, the boys praised her for how terrifically cool she looked while the girls could not help but scoff at her. It was clear how jealous they were already.

Her hair danced along with the chilling breeze and then she waved her hands in a circular motion, instantly creating a wave of ice. She directed the waves of ice towards the beast, it saw the fierce waves coming to it and tried to dodge them by changing its direction but unfortunately, it couldn't.

The waves of ice wrapped themselves around the beast, completely freezing it and it caused the beast to fall with a loud bang that shook the ground where the students were standing.

"Are you alright?" Harry asked Kelvin. He with Matt had successfully caught him before he reached the ground.

"Yes I am," Kelvin replied in an embarrassed tone. He refused to look at Max, afraid of being mocked.

Max didn't bother to look at Kelvin, he simply walked away, moving towards the frozen beast. When he was standing alone, he had received a request from the system to kill the beast with his reward still unknown. The system had told him that the beast is a man-eating sand crab and its level is the advanced level — what other students didn't even realize.

The teacher had told them that in the green portal, only basic level beats are found but here, the system had informed him that this beast is an advanced level beast.

'It's so huge and doesn't even look like a normal crab' Max noted inwardly as he inspected the beast. He looked at Emily and could not help but admire her, she indeed looked gorgeous even with her cold appearance. She did great work by freezing the beast.

"Harry about we finish it up no—"

"Max!"
