"It's been two weeks already and yet I haven't thought of a name to give my new skill," Max complains as he stared at the screen before his face. "Oh well, that isn't the man issue now. I guess I'll be able to try my new skill today, I have already learnt how to use it... all I need is to put it into action," a smirk curved on his lips as he imagined how cool he would look that day he maybe.... saves someone's ass.He waved the screen off his face and looked at the time, he was almost late and so he dashed out of his room.---------
After Angel Academy was built, the five great leaders of the world hunted for beasts and creatures and successfully found their locations. To make it easy for their generations, they created four different portals leading to the beasts' dwellings. Each portal had its level of beasts; The green portal for basic level beasts, yellow for the advanced ones, orange for the intermediate ones and lastly red for the emperor and king level beasts. The red portals were only on occasions when stronger ability users would want to train themselves. But the students were only granted access to the green, yellow and orange portals as they would easily be able to get rid of the beasts in them.
---------------
Max got to the building and pushed open the door, there he saw other students with their bags. He sited Harry from afar and then began to walk toward him. Since these past two weeks, they had become close, close that Kelvin was shocked and enraged at the same time. He tried all he could to make Harry leave Max but nothing was working, out of frustration he stopped trying and only hoped for Nat to wake up.
"Hey," Max called out as he approached Harry, Kelvin and Matt."Hey!""Hey."All replied him except Kelvin. He glared at Max and didn't say a word, he wanted to so much leave the place yet, here he was still standing and not moving an inch.
"Is the teacher here?" Max asked Harry, not bothering about Kelvin's attitude.
"Not yet but I guess he'll be here soon," Harry replied, looking towards the entrance door.
Just then a man walked into the building and made his way to the front, carrying a bag with him. His hair reached his back and a pair of round glasses perfectly fitted his eyes."Good morning students," he greeted and dropped the bag on the ground. Without letting the students reply to him, he continued. "My name is Oswald, and I am the teacher in charge of your tests. Today your test will be taking place in the green portal."
"That's going to be so cool."
"Yes, I have been waiting for so long to try my skills."
The students could not help but voice out their excitement as they would be going into the green portal.
"Everyone quiet down! I am not yet done!" The teacher said coldly, abruptly causing the whole students to keep mute. "Good!" He mumbled in satisfaction and then continued. "Your tests will be done in groups and each group will comprise of only six students, nothing more, nothing less. Your test is to kill the beasts and creatures and get their cores. The number of cores you get as a group will determine your total score for the test. Gather yourselves in groups and when you are done, pick a leader out of your groups."
The students listened attentively with excitement in their eyes, one could tell how happy and heated they are as the teacher explained to them what their test was going to be. All of them began to gather themselves in groups, each looking for a suitable partner that would be of use to them. No one would like to lose, of course, so the capable students picked themselves.
"We need two extra students," Max noted as he turned to Harry for a suggestion."Ye–"
"There would be no need for that," they heard a girl reply to them from behind cutting short Harry's words and when they turned around to the owner of the voice, they were enthralled by who they saw.
They were two girls that looked so much alike. Both girls had the same face and wore the same clothes. Black pants and hoodie with black boots to match their dress, the only difference was the colour of their hair; one had white hair that reached her waist while the other one's hair is red. Both had the same white eyes with red Iris, it looked so much perfect for them. The cat walked to the boys and stood before them.
"My name is Emily and this is my sister Evelyn, we are here to join you guys and so there will be no need to worry yourselves," the girl that replied to them earlier said. She had a cold face and cold demeanour, her white hair matched her appearance so much. Evelyn didn't say a word but the gaze in her eyes were piercing, she had her eyes glued on Max since they walked up to them and it didn't look like she would be taking her gaze off him any time soon. Max had noticed the girl's gaze on him which made him confused and worried at the same time but he was not going to say anything to her yet.
"Alright, we are complete already and so who'll be the leader?" Harry said and asked, he glanced at all the members and then his eyes fell on Max. "How about you be the leader?" he asked as a grin appeared on his face.
"Hell no! I'll be the leader!" Kelvin replied instantly, not giving Max a chance to speak.
"The leaders should come to the front and pick these items!" The teacher said and Kelvin not glancing at anyone moved to the front like other group leaders.
There the teacher gave them six tiny boxes with a button on them and a flat object with a button on them.
"Each student should carry the box with them and the flat object is strictly for the leaders. Use the flat objects when your group is done with their assignment, while the boxes are for emergencies. It can only be activated when you are in a dire situation, it will immediately send your location to the school and we will send helps to you. I will entertain no cheating and failures so I hope you do your best."
As the teacher spoke, every group leader gave the boxes to all the students and when they were done, they gathered themselves together.
"I'll open the portal and you all will go in, remember... be careful and be of one mind. If you can't do things together as a team, there will every possibility that you are likely to fail," the teacher said, the last part being a reminder to the students.
The students walked to a large long metal box and stood by the entrance, they watched as the teacher pressed a button on the wall and then the entrance to the box opened. They all began to go in one after the other until there was no student left behind.
Under the scorching sun of a plain area that had no trees not even an ounce of life were about a hundred to two hundred students all sweating and frowning their faces. Some used their hands to fan themselves while others used a piece of cloth or anything usable. The sun was too much – it was so unbearable that the students were no longer excited as they had been earlier, even the ground they were stepping on was hot."Why are you feeling so comfortable?" Kelvin could not help but ask Evelyn. Since they had arrived at the green portal, she hadn't for once complained or even frowned, worst of it all was that she wasn't sweating like her sister who almost wanted to pull her clothes off if not for the gaze of her twin."It's because she has the fire ability," Emily replied while wiping the sweat off her forehead. The group finally understood why Evelyn felt so comfortable and calm.'Fire ability huh? Sounds cool, it's no wonder her gaze is so fierce and
Too late! Was all that came into the minds of the students as they watched Max disappear together with the beast. It was all like a dream to his group members especially Harry who Max was talking to before he disappeared. They didn't know how the beast was able to break out from the ice without anyone knowing, not even Emily saw it coming. To think the basic beast would be able to break from her intermediate ice spell was something that baffled her."Max," Harry called out in fright as he stared at the empty space not too far away from them. That was the spot Max was standing previously. He began to walk towards the place and when he got there, it shocked him how the ground looked normal like nothing happened there."What should we do? We need to find him!" Harry said, turning his attention to Kelvin who also looked shocked but not to the point of doing anything."There is nothing we can do Harry, we can't possibly enter the groun
'This is it! This is the end for me!' Max thought to himself as he stared at the enormous crab that had just walked into the cave carrying a human boy in its hand, it turned around and seeing all the dead crabs let out an angry shrieking roar that shook the entire cave. It angered it a lot to see its dead comrades scattered around the whole place in their piles of blood. The enormous crab flung the boy he was holding causing him to slam his back against the hard wall and then fell to the ground then it began to dash towards Max. Max didn't see it coming, it ran at an unseeable speed and when it got to where Max was lying, it clawed at him giving him a deep tear from his neck down to his chest. Max felt the burning pain, he wanted to scream but he could not find his voice. He tried to get up but it was a failed attempt, blood kept gushing out without stopping. He gradually opened his hazy eyes and looked ahead, there, was the crab coming at him
"Argh!" Max yelled as a blinding light engulfed him, he began to rise until he was standing in the air. The crab tried to attack it but each time it makes contact with the blinding light, it would be sent flying away. After many failed attempts, it stopped and watched the human boy in a confused state. Slowly yet rapidly, the bruises, cuts and gashes all over his body began to close up until there were none left.*Ding*>>>>>>>>>>>>>><
His fingers trembled, his brows knitted together, his eyes flickered a bit and slowly they began to open until his blue eyes came into view. His eyes wandered around him until he spotted Max laying close to him with his eyes tightly shut, he abruptly got up and went over to Max to check his impulse."He isn't breathing!" He exclaimed and removed his hands from under Max's nose, his face darkened as he remembered what happened. Just before Max collapsed, Zheren's mind had begun to function, he became aware of what Max was doing to him, he would never have believed that someone would risk his life just to save him. He let out a sigh and sat close to Max's body, "I don't know how you were able to bring me back alive but no matter what it is, I'll forever be indebted to you and will follow you. I may not be able to protect you just yet but I will work hard to regain my lost powers and my title, after that no one would ever hurt you again." Zheren's first clenched so tight as he remembere
"Who are you?" Asked Max with a curious look as he stared at the figure of a man who was standing not too far away from him. He was supposed to be startled by the appearance of the manly figure but surprisingly he wasn't, he felt as though they were connected somehow."My name is Yama," the man said calmly. His eyes glittered as he stared at Max. "Do you know me?" he added."I don't! I should be asking you that because you approached me yourself," Max said still with his gaze fixed on the man."If I am correct, you awakened the remaining part of me during your breakthrough. I am quite surprised to be honest, for a mere human to awaken me is something I never expected even when I was still asleep." Yama said, his voice filled with surprise."I awakened you?" Max asked in shock. 'That explains the strange voice I was hearing during...' he stopped his thoughts halfway and returned his gaze to Yama who was patiently waiting for him to ask questions. "Were you the one speaking through me?"
Max closed his eyes still and tried to fully fix his attention on the dark energies around him. He may not know why the system requests that he absorb the energies but one thing is for sure and that is his desire to get stronger. After some time, he opened his inner eyes and he could see the dark energies and how they were raging around his soul. It was like they wanted to tear his soul apart but something kept stopping them.Max channelled his mind to the energies and began to draw them to himself, the dark energies felt his presence and suddenly they gathered around and began to form until they formed into the shadow of a man."Are you strong enough to withstand my powers?" Max heard a voice ask him through the shadow of the man. He kept silent for some time as he didn't know if he could be able to do it. At the same time, be wanted to do it because of the rewards attached to it by the system."Yes, I can!" Max replied and without waiting for the shadow to reply to him, he gathere
Zheren led Max through the dark hallway until they got to another building. Then he suddenly stopped and turned around causing Max to almost fall. "Max, I don't know how you were able to do it but I want to say thank you for bringing me back to life and for healing me. Damon said I am now a demon, it came as a shock to me considering my status before but I do not mind that again," Zheren said in a low voice then let out an inaudible sigh."I did what I had to do so you don't have to be like that, besides you saved me," Max replied with a slight smile on his face. "About the demon stuff, well I happened to be favoured by Damon and so I was able to turn into a demon, I guess it was a bit of luck that I was able to bring you back to life. As you have seen, I am not yet strong enough which explains why I fainted. By the way, how many days have I been asleep?" "Two days I guess," Zheren replied to Max's shock."Two days? Hell! I need to return to school," Max said as he remembered someth
