"Alexis? Are you still alive?"
"Yeah. As you can see," Alexis replied coldly.
Mikaela glanced at Alexis with disgust. The green-eyed man was wearing a black tuxedo that looked cheap.
"How did you even get into this upscale nightclub?"
"I—"
"Oh, I know!" Mikaela cut him off with a mocking laugh. "You must be a waiter here."
"Can you stop insulting me?" Alexis snapped back.
"Sure, but only if you were a rich man. I'd even be willing to lick your shoes," Mikaela said sarcastically. "Unfortunately, that's never going to happen because you’ll never be rich in your lifetime."
Alexis lifted his chin. "What if I can prove you wrong?"
Mikaela chuckled. "I’d sooner believe a rooster can lay eggs than believe you’re wealthy." She turned away and started walking toward the entrance.
"Why are you following me?" Mikaela protested. "This door is for VIP guests only!"
"I'm a VIP guest too."
Mikaela burst into laughter. "Are you kidding me?" she mocked. "You need an access card to enter the VIP section. To get one, you need a net worth of at least 100 million dollars. Do you have that?"
Alexis stepped toward the doorman and pulled a gold-engraved access card with an eagle design from his tuxedo pocket, handing it over.
"Wait!" Mikaela blinked repeatedly, ensuring she wasn’t hallucinating. "Where did you get that card, huh?!"
"That's none of your business," Alexis replied coldly.
"You must have stolen it! I knew it!" Mikaela yelled at the doorman. "Call security now! He’s a fraud!"
"Sorry, Ms. Mikaela, but Mr. Alexis's name is printed on this card, so he’s not a fraud."
"You must be lying! Let me see!" Mikaela snatched the card and read it. "Alexis Rowan Mor—"
"Where are your manners?" Alexis immediately grabbed the card back before she could finish reading the last name and handed it to the doorman. "You should respect client privacy."
"Our apologies, Sir," the doorman said.
Alexis walked inside, visibly irritated at having to deal with the Cornell family yet again.
'Am I dreaming? Alexis just walked into the VIP section of Sundown,' Mikaela thought, standing frozen at the entrance.
"Are you coming in, Miss?"
Mikaela snapped out of her daze. She shook off her curiosity and focused on why she had come to Sundown Club in the first place.
The sound of DJ music welcomed her as she entered. She scanned the room, searching for Vincenzo amidst the crowd dancing on the floor.
She spotted several Hollywood celebrities and heirs of conglomerates in the room.
"Hello, beautiful," a young man approached Mikaela with a sly smile. "Aren’t you Mr. Carlos’s granddaughter?"
"Yes," Mikaela replied haughtily.
"Then you must know me. I’m Wayne Greyson, a partner at Morris Corp," Wayne said confidently.
"Oh." Mikaela looked unimpressed. What was so great about being a mere partner at Morris Corp when she could aim to be the wife of its owner?
"Would you like to dance with me?"
"Sorry, but I’m looking for my boyfriend," Mikaela replied.
"Your boyfriend?" Wayne looked disappointed. "Who is he?"
Mikaela couldn’t answer directly, fearing it would spark rumors about her and Vincenzo. Her plan was to make Vincenzo fall for her without being accused of stealing her cousin's fiancé.
"You don’t need to know."
"Is he richer and more powerful than me?" Wayne sneered. "Don’t forget, my father’s wealth surpasses your entire family’s. So your boyfriend couldn’t possibly outclass me!"
Mikaela turned to leave, but Wayne grabbed her arm.
"How dare you reject me, you brat! All women beg to be with me!" Wayne’s pride was wounded by her rejection.
"Let go of me, idiot!"
"Idiot? Fuck!"
"Argh!" Mikaela cried out as Wayne slapped her, sending her crashing into a wall. She glared at him. "How dare you hit me! I’ll call security!"
Wayne laughed maliciously. "Go ahead, sweetheart. They wouldn’t dare lay a hand on me because my family owns this club!"
Mikaela’s eyes widened.
"Now, come with me! I’ll make your night unforgettable!" Wayne dragged Mikaela along. The nightclub and the five-star hotel were connected.
"Let go of me, idiot! Somebody help me!" Mikaela screamed as Wayne pulled her down the corridor. Staff and guests passed by but avoided getting involved, fearing the Greyson family’s wrath.
Her cries grew more desperate as Wayne unlocked a hotel room door.
"What do you think you’re doing to that woman?"
Wayne froze at the sound of a cold voice.
"Who are you?" Wayne asked, frowning. He knew every prominent family and Hollywood star in the USA, but he didn’t recognize the green-eyed man standing before him.
"Alexis."
"You must not be from a wealthy family," Wayne sneered. "Leave. Don’t interfere in my business if you value your life."
"Alexis, please help me! Don’t listen to him!"
Alexis looked at the woman, who had always insulted him, his expression cold and indifferent.
"Why are you just standing there?!" Mikaela shouted desperately.
"Sorry to bother you, Bro." Alexis turning away.
"Alexis! Don’t leave! Please... I’ll even pay you a lot of money!"
"Shut up, you brat!" Wayne dragged Mikaela into the room.
"You’re cruel, Alexis! I even tried to save you when the Cornell family planned to kill you!"
Alexis froze, his body stiffening as the hotel door slammed shut.
"Is that true?" Alexis muttered, shaking his head quickly to dismiss the thought. "No way Mikaela would do that. Her entire family is evil."
He continued walking, ignoring Mikaela’s muffled cries behind the door.
However, suddenly, doubt consumed him, and he stopped in his tracks. "What if it’s true?"
"Tsk!" Alexis turned back, kicked the door open, and yanked Wayne off Mikaela. He threw him hard against the wall.
"Bastard!"
Mikaela immediately hid behind Alexis, sobbing.
"How dare you ruin my fun, you jerk!" Wayne shouted.
"Fight me if you want her back," Alexis challenged.
Wayne lunged at him. The two men fought fiercely, but Alexis emerged victorious, having recently taken up boxing to build his strength.
Mikaela was awestruck by Alexis’s calm and composed fighting style, even against Wayne’s aggressive attacks.
"Let’s go." Alexis grabbed Mikaela’s hand after Wayne collapsed, bloodied and unconscious. But before they could escape, both were knocked out from behind by a hard blow to their necks.
A man holding two beer bottles smirked wickedly. "You’re not going anywhere."
Alexis slowly opened his eyes. A sharp, unbearable pain seized his head."Where am I? What happened? Why does my head hurt so much?" Alexis wondered, finding himself lying in an unfamiliar room.He was shocked to find a woman lying next to him, completely naked.“Mikaela?!” Alexis sat up suddenly.“How could she be lying next to me? Did we—” He quickly shook his head. ‘No! There’s no way I slept with her!’Mikaela shifted slightly before waking up to the sound of Alexis's loud exclamation. "You're so noisy, idiot—" she suddenly sat up when she recognized his voice."What the hell are you doing in my room? What did you do to me?!" Mikaela covered her naked body with the blanket."Don't misunderstand! I didn’t rape you! I don’t even remember how we ended up in this room—"SLAP!“Liar!” Mikaela yelled, tears streaming down her face. “Is this how you get your revenge on me?!”“I’m not some bastard!” Alexis defended himself. “I hate you and your family, but I would never use such dirty met
“Get Alexis out,” Raymond ordered.“Are you sure? He’s the suspect the Greyson family reported, Mr. Raymond,” the warden explained politely.“Just follow my orders, or you’ll regret it.” Raymond glared at him.“Y-yes, sir.” With trembling hands, the warden unlocked the cell and released Alexis.“I’m sorry I arrived late, young master.”“No problem.”'Young master?'The two exited the building and got into a car.“What exactly happened, Mr. Alexis? How did you end up in prison?” Raymond asked, still in shock after receiving a call from Alexis’s bodyguard, who had secretly been following him.“It’s all because of Wayne Greyson and his father.” Alexis growled, his voice full of rage. “Wayne framed me and created a scenario that made it look like I assaulted Mikaela. That gave the Cornell family a reason to throw me in jail.”“He’s gone too far.”“Exactly. I want you to cancel the partnership with the Greyson Corp.”“I’ll take care of it right away, young master.”***“How about it, Dad?
"Are you sure you’re going to marry Mikaela, young master?" Raymond's voice came through Alexis’s phone. "Yes." Alexis glanced at Mikaela, who was sound asleep on his bed. They were currently staying at Carlos's orphanage—Alexis’s childhood home—since bringing her to his mansion was out of the question. "But she and her family insulted you." Alexis chuckled slyly. "I'm not marrying her without a reason, Raymond. This is all part of my revenge plan." "What’s your plan, Mr. Alexis? Allow me to assist you." "You’ll know soon enou—" "Tsk! You’re so noisy, Alexis," Mikaela grumbled, her voice groggy as she rubbed her eyes. "Who are you talking to, huh?" "I’m applying for a job." "This late at night? Seriously?" "It’s already morning, Miss." Alexis chuckled at her confusion. "Really?" Mikaela’s eyes widened as she pulled back the curtains. "Oh my God! I’m late!" She jumped out of bed and hurried to the door, grabbing her scarf along the way. "Late for what?" Alexis fol
“Congratulations, Vincenzo. Soon, you’ll officially become the richest man in the USA,” said a 55-year-old man as he shook Vincenzo’s hand.“Thank you very much,” Vincenzo replied confidently, flashing a smile as he shook hands with each distinguished guest approaching him.Meanwhile, Zelle stood elegantly by his side in a figure-hugging red dress that highlighted her flawless curves. Her poised demeanor and stunning appearance exuded sophistication, solidifying her image as the partner of the future heir to Morris Corp.“She’s incredibly lucky,” one woman whispered to her companion. “Her life will change completely once Vincenzo is officially named the heir.”The elegant atmosphere abruptly shifted as a man entered the room. His commanding presence drew every gaze, and the weight of his steps made a statement.“Who is he?” the guests murmured. Although they were all part of the elite, none seemed to recognize the mysterious man.Vincenzo’s expression darkened instantly. Anger simmere
"FUCK! Failure again!" The sound of shattering glass echoed as Vincenzo brutally knocked over the table in front of him. His face was flushed with rage. The room, once full of guests, was now silent, leaving only scattered glass shards and the awkward Cornell family.Zelle and her family exchanged glances. Disappointment was veiled behind their fake expressions of concern. They hadn’t been able to exploit Vincenzo’s wealth this time, but pretending to be a caring family was a duty they had to fulfill."Calm down, Vincenzo," Helen stepped forward, trying to salvage the situation. Her thin smile attempted to soothe him. "I'm sure Raymond must have a reason for not showing up."Vincenzo turned sharply, his eyes piercing through Helen. "A reason? Another piece of nonsense like that, I swear, I will destroy anyone who dares to stand in my way!"Everyone’s eyes were on Vincenzo as his fury boiled over. No one dared to oppose him. After taking a heavy breath, he grabbed his coat and left w
A man with a cold, fierce face entered a VIP room at one of the finest restaurants. The atmosphere in the room was already thick with an invisible tension."Finally, you’ve arrived. You made me wait too long," Vincenzo said, his voice low and sharp, as though there was no room for tolerance. He took a deep drag from his cigarette, exhaling the smoke calmly, as if savoring the tension that hung in the air.The room was deliberately dimmed. Only the soft glow of the lights reflected off the glossy black table surface, casting dark shadows around them."I had to secure the situation before coming here," Ernest replied briefly, his tone calculated, as he sat across from Vincenzo with a watchful demeanor."Did you bring what I asked for?" Ernest asked, his voice more of a command than a request."Sure," Vincenzo said, pushing a red folder across the table toward Ernest, as if delivering something of great value. "Here’s the official inheritance letter Raymond created, along with a sample o
"Where's my tuxedo, damn it?!" a man with an arrogant face shouted furiously in his room. His voice boomed loudly, echoing beyond the room. Alexis stumbled forward, clutching a cane to guide his steps as he was blind. Approaching the man, who was around 55 years old, Alexis handed over the tuxedo. "Here's your tuxedo, Mr. Howard Cornell," Alexis said, his blonde hair catching the faint light, holding the neatly hung tuxedo out. "You're so slow!" Howard snatched it roughly, glanced at it, then threw it back at Alexis' face. "You idiot! This isn't the navy tuxedo I told you to clean, damn it! I told you to clean the black one!" Alexis trembled. "I-I'm sorry, Dad I'll prepare it—" "You're useless!" Howard shouted, kicking Alexis' cane away, sending it skidding far across the room. He stormed off, leaving Alexis behind in a storm of rage. Alexis took a deep breath, trying to hold back his frustration. He had endured humiliation nearly every moment in this house. He knelt down
Lenora stared at Alexis sharply, hoping he still remembered her threat earlier that morning that she wouldn’t hesitate to throw him out if he revealed his status to Vincenzo. "Why are you asking me that, Mom? I’m Zelle’s husband," Alexis said, trying to stay polite, even though anger boiled inside him. He didn’t mind being treated like a servant by his in-laws, but he couldn’t accept them giving Zelle to another man. Earlier, Lenora had ordered Alexis to hide his marital status from the Morris family, claiming it would help Zelle secure a business contract with Vincenzo. Without much thought, Alexis agreed because he loved Zelle and wanted to support her dreams. However, he never imagined the way they intended to secure the contract was by making Zelle Vincenzo’s lover. The realization broke Alexis’ heart. He had spent so much effort helping Zelle and the Cornell family, only to welcome her affair. "Mom?" Vincenzo repeated, his eyebrows furrowed. "Did I hear that right? Did
