“Get Alexis out,” Raymond ordered.
“Are you sure? He’s the suspect the Greyson family reported, Mr. Raymond,” the warden explained politely.
“Just follow my orders, or you’ll regret it.” Raymond glared at him.
“Y-yes, sir.” With trembling hands, the warden unlocked the cell and released Alexis.
“I’m sorry I arrived late, young master.”
“No problem.”
'Young master?'
The two exited the building and got into a car.
“What exactly happened, Mr. Alexis? How did you end up in prison?” Raymond asked, still in shock after receiving a call from Alexis’s bodyguard, who had secretly been following him.
“It’s all because of Wayne Greyson and his father.” Alexis growled, his voice full of rage. “Wayne framed me and created a scenario that made it look like I assaulted Mikaela. That gave the Cornell family a reason to throw me in jail.”
“He’s gone too far.”
“Exactly. I want you to cancel the partnership with the Greyson Corp.”
“I’ll take care of it right away, young master.”

“How about it, Dad? Did you get that bastard locked up?” Wayne asked as soon as Morgan returned home. He couldn’t forget the humiliation of being beaten by Alexis in front of Mikaela, which had completely ruined his plans.
Wayne had been after Mikaela for a long time, and Alexis had ruined everything.
“Of course. It was too easy to throw him in jail.”
“Good.” Wayne smirked maliciously. “Now, I’ll go see Mikaela and propose to her. I’m sure she won’t reject me after the rumors about her and Alexis spread. It’s the only way she can save her reputation.”
“Do whatever you want, son.” Morgan patted his shoulder with pride. “I’ll always support you. No one can stand in your way.”
Wayne grinned. Soon, Mikaela would be mine.
Morgan headed to his office, but his phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Morgan smiled. Finally, Raymond was calling. Surely, it was about the approval for the project funding he had requested. After all, Morris Corp and Greyson Corp had been partners for decades.
“Good evening, Mr. Raymond.”
“There’s no need for pleasantries, Mr. Morgan,” Raymond’s cold tone sent shivers down Morgan's spine.
“I’m calling to inform you that I’m canceling our partnership, permanently. You’ll also need to repay the money you borrowed.”
Morgan's eyes widened. “Why are you doing this suddenly, Mister?” Panic filled his voice.
“Because you made the grave mistake of insulting my bos.”
“Your bos? I swear I’ve never insulted Mr. Vincenzo,” Morgan answered earnestly.
“My decision is final. I hope to never see you again.”
The call ended abruptly.
“Hello? Mr. Raymond? Hello? ARGH!” Morgan hurled his phone to the floor, smashing it into pieces.
“Damn it! This is a disaster!” Morgan paced back and forth, pulling at his hair in frustration.
“What’s wrong, Dad?” Wayne asked, alarmed.
“Raymond just canceled our partnership out of nowhere!”
“What?!”

“I’ve canceled the deal, as you requested, Mr. Alexis,” Raymond reported as he slipped his phone back into his tuxedo pocket.
“Good.” Alexis smirked. “I can’t wait to hear about the Greyson Corp’s downfall.”
“They deserve it.”
Alexis’s eyes suddenly landed on a woman sobbing by the sidewalk.
“Stop!”
The driver slammed on the brakes, jolting everyone forward.
“What’s wrong, young master?”
Without answering, Alexis got out and approached Mikaela, who was crying.
“What happened? Why are you out here so late? It’s dangerous.”
Mikaela looked up, startled. “Alexis?! How are you out? You must’ve escaped!”
“No.” Alexis’s expression remained cold, though his heart raced nervously. “I proved my innocence.”
“Really?” Her eyes lit up. “Who’s the real culprit? Tell me so I can force him to clarify what really happened between us to my family!”
“What exactly happened?” Alexis pressed.
Mikaela huffed in frustration. “I was kicked out.”
“Oh.” Alexis showed no sympathy.
“That’s all you have to say?” Mikaela snapped. “I got kicked out because of you.”
“Because of me?” Alexis echoed, his tone sarcastic. “I wouldn’t have been in prison if I hadn’t risked my life to save you.”
Mikaela turned away, ashamed. She couldn’t deny the truth. She owed Alexis her life.
He handed her a handkerchief. “Stop crying.”
“I don’t need it.” Mikaela quickly wiped her tears, embarrassed to be so vulnerable in front of him.
“I’ll take you home.”
“There’s no need,” Mikaela refused. “They won’t take me back. No one cares about me anymore.”
“That’s nonsense. You’re still Carlos’s granddaughter and part of the Cornell family.”
“You’re wrong, Alexis.” Mikaela lowered her head. “They’ve never seen me or my parents as part of the Cornell family.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m useless.” Mikaela chuckled bitterly. “I’ll never be as good as Zelle.”
Alexis was stunned. He hadn’t expected such an admission. An idea suddenly crossed his mind. “I’ll help you take revenge on Zelle.”
She gaped at him in shock. “How? You have nothing.”
Alexis smirked slyly. “By marrying me.”
Mikaela glared at him. “I hate Zelle, but I’d never stoop so low as to marry you!”
“Fine. But take care of yourself. There are a lot of robberies around here. They like to target daughters of wealthy families.”
Alexis turned to leave, but he froze when someone hugged him tightly from behind, squeezing the breath out of him.
“Don’t leave me! What if Wayne comes after me and kills me? The Cornells don’t care about me anymore!”
Alexis smirked, realizing his plan had worked. “I’ll protect you while you’re disowned, but... you’ll have to marry me.”
Mikaela shoved him away, disgusted. “You’re despicable!”
“No problem. Bye.”
"Tsk!" Mikaela mulled over his offer. She had no other choice. She had no money, no home, and Alexis was the only one she could trust now.
“Okay! Fine! I accept your marriage proposal!"
Alexis smirked.
"Are you sure you’re going to marry Mikaela, young master?" Raymond's voice came through Alexis’s phone. "Yes." Alexis glanced at Mikaela, who was sound asleep on his bed. They were currently staying at Carlos's orphanage—Alexis’s childhood home—since bringing her to his mansion was out of the question. "But she and her family insulted you." Alexis chuckled slyly. "I'm not marrying her without a reason, Raymond. This is all part of my revenge plan." "What’s your plan, Mr. Alexis? Allow me to assist you." "You’ll know soon enou—" "Tsk! You’re so noisy, Alexis," Mikaela grumbled, her voice groggy as she rubbed her eyes. "Who are you talking to, huh?" "I’m applying for a job." "This late at night? Seriously?" "It’s already morning, Miss." Alexis chuckled at her confusion. "Really?" Mikaela’s eyes widened as she pulled back the curtains. "Oh my God! I’m late!" She jumped out of bed and hurried to the door, grabbing her scarf along the way. "Late for what?" Alexis fol
“Congratulations, Vincenzo. Soon, you’ll officially become the richest man in the USA,” said a 55-year-old man as he shook Vincenzo’s hand.“Thank you very much,” Vincenzo replied confidently, flashing a smile as he shook hands with each distinguished guest approaching him.Meanwhile, Zelle stood elegantly by his side in a figure-hugging red dress that highlighted her flawless curves. Her poised demeanor and stunning appearance exuded sophistication, solidifying her image as the partner of the future heir to Morris Corp.“She’s incredibly lucky,” one woman whispered to her companion. “Her life will change completely once Vincenzo is officially named the heir.”The elegant atmosphere abruptly shifted as a man entered the room. His commanding presence drew every gaze, and the weight of his steps made a statement.“Who is he?” the guests murmured. Although they were all part of the elite, none seemed to recognize the mysterious man.Vincenzo’s expression darkened instantly. Anger simmere
"FUCK! Failure again!" The sound of shattering glass echoed as Vincenzo brutally knocked over the table in front of him. His face was flushed with rage. The room, once full of guests, was now silent, leaving only scattered glass shards and the awkward Cornell family.Zelle and her family exchanged glances. Disappointment was veiled behind their fake expressions of concern. They hadn’t been able to exploit Vincenzo’s wealth this time, but pretending to be a caring family was a duty they had to fulfill."Calm down, Vincenzo," Helen stepped forward, trying to salvage the situation. Her thin smile attempted to soothe him. "I'm sure Raymond must have a reason for not showing up."Vincenzo turned sharply, his eyes piercing through Helen. "A reason? Another piece of nonsense like that, I swear, I will destroy anyone who dares to stand in my way!"Everyone’s eyes were on Vincenzo as his fury boiled over. No one dared to oppose him. After taking a heavy breath, he grabbed his coat and left w
A man with a cold, fierce face entered a VIP room at one of the finest restaurants. The atmosphere in the room was already thick with an invisible tension."Finally, you’ve arrived. You made me wait too long," Vincenzo said, his voice low and sharp, as though there was no room for tolerance. He took a deep drag from his cigarette, exhaling the smoke calmly, as if savoring the tension that hung in the air.The room was deliberately dimmed. Only the soft glow of the lights reflected off the glossy black table surface, casting dark shadows around them."I had to secure the situation before coming here," Ernest replied briefly, his tone calculated, as he sat across from Vincenzo with a watchful demeanor."Did you bring what I asked for?" Ernest asked, his voice more of a command than a request."Sure," Vincenzo said, pushing a red folder across the table toward Ernest, as if delivering something of great value. "Here’s the official inheritance letter Raymond created, along with a sample o
"Where's my tuxedo, damn it?!" a man with an arrogant face shouted furiously in his room. His voice boomed loudly, echoing beyond the room. Alexis stumbled forward, clutching a cane to guide his steps as he was blind. Approaching the man, who was around 55 years old, Alexis handed over the tuxedo. "Here's your tuxedo, Mr. Howard Cornell," Alexis said, his blonde hair catching the faint light, holding the neatly hung tuxedo out. "You're so slow!" Howard snatched it roughly, glanced at it, then threw it back at Alexis' face. "You idiot! This isn't the navy tuxedo I told you to clean, damn it! I told you to clean the black one!" Alexis trembled. "I-I'm sorry, Dad I'll prepare it—" "You're useless!" Howard shouted, kicking Alexis' cane away, sending it skidding far across the room. He stormed off, leaving Alexis behind in a storm of rage. Alexis took a deep breath, trying to hold back his frustration. He had endured humiliation nearly every moment in this house. He knelt down
Lenora stared at Alexis sharply, hoping he still remembered her threat earlier that morning that she wouldn’t hesitate to throw him out if he revealed his status to Vincenzo. "Why are you asking me that, Mom? I’m Zelle’s husband," Alexis said, trying to stay polite, even though anger boiled inside him. He didn’t mind being treated like a servant by his in-laws, but he couldn’t accept them giving Zelle to another man. Earlier, Lenora had ordered Alexis to hide his marital status from the Morris family, claiming it would help Zelle secure a business contract with Vincenzo. Without much thought, Alexis agreed because he loved Zelle and wanted to support her dreams. However, he never imagined the way they intended to secure the contract was by making Zelle Vincenzo’s lover. The realization broke Alexis’ heart. He had spent so much effort helping Zelle and the Cornell family, only to welcome her affair. "Mom?" Vincenzo repeated, his eyebrows furrowed. "Did I hear that right? Did
“You’ve got to be kidding! There’s no way this bastard inherited all of my father’s wealth!” Howard protested angrily.“But that’s exactly what’s written in the will, Mr. Howard,” Marcus explained politely.“Give it to me!” Howard snatched the will from Marcus roughly and read it thoroughly, his eyes narrowing with disbelief. “FUCK!" Howard threw the paper onto the floor and lunged at his father, grabbing his neck. “How dare you leave everything to this bastard! Have you completely forgotten about your own family?!”“Stop it, Mr. Howard! You’re going to hurt him!” Marcus and a few doctors rushed to pull Howard away from Mr. Carlos. “I don’t care! He deserves to die!” Howard shouted, completely losing control. No one in the Cornell family stepped forward to stop him, their silence felt like approval. Suddenly, the piercing sound of a heart monitor alarm filled the room. Carlos’s body convulsed, and panic erupted.“What’s happening?” Marcus asked, his voice filled with worry, while
"No. I won’t divorce her," Alexis said firmly, making Zilda and Mikaela seethe in anger.Zelle smirked slyly at her aunt and cousin. "You’d better leave before I call security.""No," Zilda refused. "You can’t just kick us out that easily, you tramp." We won’t let you take all of Carlos’s inheritance, Zilda thought bitterly.Zelle glared at her. "How dare you call me that, you bastard!" She lunged at Zilda, but Howard suddenly appeared. "Stop it, Zelle," Howard ordered coldly before turning to Zilda, Mikaela, and the rest of the family. "I need to talk to all of you. Follow me." He walked out, and the others followed, leaving Alexis alone in confusion. "What is it?" Zilda asked sarcastically. "I want us to work together," Howard said, his tone authoritative. "Work together?" "Yes. We’ll convince Alexis to sign the declaration. Then, we’ll split Carlos’s inheritance fairly among us. How does that sound?" Howard explained confidently. Helen and her husband, Adam, exchanged
