The Huntsmen and Foo

"How do you feel?"

"Different." He said with glowing green eyes. "Like I could do anything. I'm still tired though."

Over time, Maks would not practice his Tai Chi, he felt like it was stupid and he fell right back into his routine, playing games, calling, studying, sleeping off, listening to music, yelling at his half-sister Jessica and tolerating his step-mom.

He thought about going back to the training camp, he cringed into himself, he thought it was embarrassing and unmanly.

Some of the girls at PASS were giggling at him. Or with him, he presumed. Although he thought they didn't know him.

The Kwoon was small until other supernaturals who did not have too much on their schedules would show up at school again. It contained many people with extraordinary abilities. They made it look easy.

Meanwhile, his schedule was in riot.

>>Training>>Work>>School>>>Social life>>Home<<

He would come home dead tired, frustrated and hungry. Which reinforced another reason to practice his Tai Chi again and again_Until Jessica plans a sneak attack and ruins his alone time and his line of focus.

Battered again outside of school, he would be jostled by Dom. Although this time, he wasn't outmatched. His friends were moved to another boarding school.

Maks was more than happy to face him one-on-one with Dom Rodriguez. A bully, and an overgrown party boy in high school. He had other friends too but they were seniors and overlooked him.

Hailey Young continued to be a high-classed bitch from his viewpoint considering her stoic nature, she was one mysterious girl and a hacker.

Victor Lee kept bothering about his psychic stats and he was extra sensitive. He had already upgraded to level one (with cheats) While he remained to drop dead level zero.

He groaned.

His system was dormant now.

"Can we get this over with?" He asked Wu.

They rotated their right arms to their left on the fields of PASS.

No one was around.

Raising their knees like cranes and countering their left arms back to right, then their raised knees, stretched back to the centre, placing their hands and ankles together and releasing deep breaths.

Maks smiled, his pallor had regained its healthy tan after so many long stressful days. He was stronger.

His qi was balanced. His ears rang in the silence, maybe it was just his imagination, but he felt better. He felt relieved.

Wu was in good shape today, his black hair was cut low, and he wore a black Tai Chi uniform with a white collar. Maks had a daunting image of Jet Li in his head.

He shuddered at that. "Master Wu, I have something to tell you_"

Congratulations!

His system was activated.

"No way," Maks said in scepticism. He wasn't falling for that trick.

[ Quests will be upgraded shortly. ]

"Oh my."

He didn't know how to stop it but then he exhaled, and the yellow aura evaporated.

"Impeccable," Wu said. "An animal system. The ancestors be praised. But that doesn't mean you're dropping your lessons. Continue training for the summer." He took his cane leaving.

[ Seriously? ] He said after Wu looked unimpressed and shrieked when a chipmunk leapt on his head.

After classes, he walked down the field and the girls at the pond rounded by stone waved at him. He blushed and waved drowsily.

In the Kwoon here, he had fair treatment. The people were nice except during self-defence lessons. He guessed.

They exchanged looks and whispered to each other.

Instinctively, he faced a shepherd dog looking expectantly at him.

It had grey hair, like a mop and it snivelled and it had a wound on its ear. Flies swarmed there.

"Is this my quest?" He retired from training and took his bag and ran to the entrance, there came the view of the city. There were few cars on the streets. It was dawn. He navigated his way past the road.

The sheepdog was still tailing him.

"Okay, what is it you want?"

Maks glared down at the dog and the man on top of a building. He was blocking the sun with his billboard.

Do not expect any less from the insurance company. We've got you covered.

His blue tab came up.

Attack the huntsmen. ]

He felt a cold sensation spreading wide through his face and his chest.

[ The Huntsmen? Are you kidding? ]

He groaned. He was done for. [ Where's this new feature? ]

Sweat trickled down his face while he searched the system tabs. Most of the animals were still blocked, he had been going on side quests and right now it seemed like it never amounted to anything.

The sheepdog winced when the shots rained down on them and Maks gasped running swiftly from the billboard site where the Huntsman stood up and swooped down.

"I've got you in my sight!"

"You've got to be kidding me." He backed away when another joined him.

The shots came raining down. Windows shattered and road signs dented.

The dog took a right and he had the mind to follow it through the park. He gazed at the people roving by, he pushed through them, running away from the Huntsmen.

"Out of my way!" He roared puffing.

The Huntsman dropped down in a black jacket with purple outlines, a handgun at the ready. Deeming the civilians, they looked shocked at him.

"Animal control." He said through his mask.

Maks had been saving up on points, going on missions, going through hell for a broken bat, or other animals that seemed to end up in ridiculous places.

Like the time he found a toad inside Victor's air conditioning system. It would make this funny noise like a balloon releasing air, whenever it got colder and it wouldn't leave.

Going through muck to rescue some baby alligator.

His mind came out of the hurricane of thoughts.

Maks looked back at the other one. A lady with brown hair in a black suit. "It's over shapeshifter." She mumbled through her mask.

"I'm still standing." He said lamely.

Her visors locked on him.

[ Newly Awakened. ]

She shot darts at him and he ran behind a car, she growled encompassing the park after him.

The dog hopped over a fence.

He missed and went through the small gate. "Perfect." The sheepdog signalled at another narrow path.

Maks picked an animal. "If you weren't so sharp, I'd never follow you."

The two Huntsmen met a snivelling stray dog and found nothing on it. The lady looked everywhere.

Maks gritted his teeth from the wall.

{You have enough points to surf through the predator unit}

"Cool." He went down on his hind legs and emerged as a mongoose.

[ Great. ] He snarled and rounded the huntsman's neck, throwing him down as a human and staying on his back in mongoose form.

He felt threatened as a mongoose, his human senses did not object to that but he was angry.

He placed a paw on the Huntsman's hood, daring to bite him and silently daring her to shoot him on her comrade.
