Chapter 7: Test The Talent

Asher took a Doctor's Suit and started to analyse the Patient as if he were going to cure him.

[RING! New mission. You must cure an old man who is currently in a vegetative state.]

The system referred to the nearby VIP ward in a room so luxurious that even the ward where Asher was treated could not be compared; it was more accurately called the Room of the Rich than the VIP Ward.

"The system scanned this old man's identity," Asher said as he looked at the white-haired man lying unconscious on the bed with a digital device connected to his body.

[Name: Sebastian Hayes]

[Notes: One of the wealthiest people in Nevada today has been in a vegetative state for ten years; the older man's body is exposed to toxins that cannot be detected by modern medicine, which will degrade the body's functions day by day].

[If you don't save him within an hour, then the old man will die due to declining body functions, but if the task fails, you get no punishment.]

Asher felt a pang of pity for the old man lying on the hospital bed. He had detected a trace of poison in his blood, and he knew he only had an hour left to live. He had no idea who the old man was or why someone wanted him dead. He only knew that he had the power to save him.

He reached for his syringe, which contained a special antidote that he had developed. He was about to inject it into the old man's vein when he heard a voice behind him.

"Stop! Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Asher turned around and saw a stunning woman standing at the door. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a curvy figure. She was wearing a designer dress and a diamond necklace. She looked like a movie star.

She was also angry and suspicious.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Asher asked calmly.

"I'm his granddaughter, Noora Hayes. And you're trespassing on my family's property. It is a private hospital, and you're not authorised to be here," she said sternly.

Asher realised that he had made a mistake. He had sneaked into the hospital using his system's hacking skills. He had followed his system's instructions, which told him to find and save the old man.

[The old man is William Hayes, the founder and CEO of Hayes Corporation, one of the largest and most influential companies in the world. He has been in a coma for ten years due to a rare and incurable disease. His family has offered a huge reward to anyone who can wake him up.]

Asher didn't care about the reward; he only wanted to complete his mission and get his system points. He didn't expect to encounter any trouble.

"I'm sorry, Miss Hayes, but your grandfather is in danger. Someone has poisoned him, and he will die soon if I don't help him," he said truthfully.

Sophia scoffed at his words.

"That's ridiculous. My grandfather has a terminal illness, not poison. No one can cure him, not even the best doctors in the world. And you expect me to believe that you can? Who are you anyway? A con artist? A thief? A spy?"

Asher felt annoyed by her accusations.

"No, I'm none of those things. I'm just a scientist who has a unique ability to heal people," he said.

"A scientist? Really? Then where's your lab coat? Your ID badge? Your credentials?" Sophia asked sarcastically.

Asher looked down at his clothes. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, with a leather jacket over them. He didn't look like a scientist at all.

He realised that he had no way to prove his identity or his claims.

He decided to give up and leave.

"Fine, you don't have to believe me. But don't blame me when your grandfather dies in an hour," he said coldly.

He turned to walk away, but Sophia stopped him.

"Wait!" she called out.

She looked at him with a mix of fear and hope.

She didn't want to trust him, but she also didn't want to lose her grandfather.

He was the only person who had ever loved her unconditionally. He had raised her since she was a baby after her parents died in a plane crash. He had given her everything she ever wanted, except for his wakefulness.

She had spent countless hours by his bedside, talking to him, reading to him, playing music for him. She had prayed for him to open his eyes and smile at her again.

She had also initiated the competition that her father had announced. She had hoped that someone would find a way to cure her grandfather, even if it meant giving away half of their fortune and marrying a stranger.

She looked at Asher; he seemed confident and sincere about his ability to save her grandfather. He also seemed handsome and charming, despite his casual attire.

She wondered if this was destiny; maybe this was the miracle she had been waiting for.

She decided to take a risk.

"Please, save my grandfather," she begged him. "He's a good man. He doesn't deserve to die like this. If someone poisoned him, it must be one of our enemies. Please help him; I'll do anything you want."

Asher felt moved by her plea. He saw the tears in her eyes and the love in her heart.

He also felt curious about her offer. What did she mean by anything?

He decided to make a deal with her.

"All right, I'll save your grandfather, Noora," Asher said softly. "But on one condition."

[Her name is Noora Hayes. Her age is 23, and her charms point is 9. Noora's talent is network and information expert, and her liking towards you is 5]

How do you know my name?"

"That, of course, because you're the heiress of the Hayes family, so I know your name, hahaha." Asher could only laugh awkwardly.

Right now, Asher didn't want to get into trouble, at least not. He knew there must be a specific power behind the older man's vegetation, so it was better to keep a low profile to avoid trouble.

But this statement aroused Noora's curiosity; for her, no secret in this world could escape her grasp; with her ability as a hacker, she could quickly get information from the man before her.

"Well, just forget it. I don't want any rewards, and I want to keep what happens in this place a secret, so first remove the CCTV footage."

"All right," Noora took her iPhone, then hacked into the hospital's security system and deleted the CCTV video in the room.

"I've deleted the footage and switched off the CCTV in this room so you can heal my grandfather." Before deleting the CCTV footage, Noora saved the footage on her mobile phone.

"Then I'll start the healing," Asher walked to the vase and threw the water and flowers into the rubbish bin.

"What you will see after this cannot be explained by medical science or logical mind."
