Chapter 4: King

AS he tore through its exoskeleton, he felt the warm, viscous fluids that gushed forth.

Bitter! It's so bitter, and it hurts!

The burning sensation of the toxic fluids made Aldric's mouth feel like it was on fire.

He was coughing up blood from all the poison that he has cosumed, yet Aldric didn't stop. He would have faint from the pain, but the wrath that Aldric's was feeling had overpower all his other feelings—even pain.

Aldric gulped down the flesh and bit again. Again and again. Blood dripped from Aldric's mouth as he ripped into the spider's flesh, each bite filled with vengeful fury.

Aldric's teeth sank deeper, breaking through the spider's internal organs. The taste of the creature's innards filled his mouth, a nauseating mix of bitterness and decay.

“Shrieeeek!”

Suddenly, the monster let out the loudest shriek.

“It's no use! Scream all you like! I will fucking kill you!”

Its shriek lasted for a while, until suddenly, its body convulsed, but Aldric didn't stop.

He keeps hitting the spider-like he has become a monster, and the spider has become the prey.

His eyes were filled with fury.

“Kill! Kill!”

“Shriek!”

With a final weak shriek, the spider's body limply fell to the ground, lifeless.

Its poisonous blood almost flooded the cave.

“I-I leveled up? I'm not level 1 anymore?!” Aldric exclaimed happily that he almost forgot that his body was not in a state to celebrate.

He stood on the spider's body while panting heavily, his body covered in the spider's poison and his hands were peeling and burning.

Just when Aldric thought it was over, he heard a strange sound coming towards him and at a very rapid pace.

“W-What is happening?”

Aldric's question was answered as he felt the uneven terrain tremble like an earthquake was coming, but it wasn't an earthquake.

Aldric slowly turned his head towards the cave's entrance and his face hardened as soon as he saw the sight he didn't want to see.

They emerged from the dark. New monsters had appeared and the said monsters were massive.

The closest thing it resembled were werewolves. However, unlike wolves, their fur was mangy and discolored.

Their eyes glowed with a sinister red light, and saliva dripped from their exposed crooked teeth.

In less than a second, the cavern was filled with these wolf monsters, all responding to the distressed calls of the blinded spider and now to Aldric's blood.

“...Grrrrr.” The bigger wolf let out a low growl as it locked eyes with Aldric, its pack behind it.

The monstrous wolves seemed to be drawn to the scent of the recently defeated spider and the fresh blood lingering in the air.

Aldric, still standing atop the spider's lifeless body, knew he was in a precarious situation. The wolves were closing in, and he could feel the intensity of their hunger.

Aldric reels back in fear at the overwhelming number of monsters surrounding him.

“I forgot… if there is no sun, Gates will start to open and monsters will appear,” Aldric muttered to himself, realizing the dire situation he was in. “F-Fuck!”

If not for the intense pain he felt everywhere in his body that made his thoughts high-strung but clear, he would have definitely suspected that he was dreaming.

“Damn it! Why won't they just leave me alone?!” Aldric muttered to himself, his heart pounding with fear.

“Ha-Ha,” Aldric laughed stupidly. “I-I guess this is the end of me…”

The sight of the monsters' saliva, glowing eerily in the dimly lit cavern, sent shivers down Aldric's spine.

He still hasn't left his spot. Currently, he was still on the top of the spider's dead body.

His whole body was shaking and shivering. He was shaking from fear, and at the same time, his body was beginning to feel cold.

He lost too much blood from the monster's attack. With the stamina of his fat body, it was already a miracle that he managed to survive this long.

His breathing grew labored, a harsh symphony to the drumming beat of his heart. He felt like he could collapse any second now and then be the meal of these monsters.

Maybe that would be great so that everything will end and he would no longer suffer but that thought was quickly eradicated by the wrath in his heart.

‘One, two… five… fifty… It is impossible for me to even defeat one. How can I even defeat fifty of these monsters?! What can I even do in this situation besides give up? The best thing that I could do was wait for the sun, but then… I will be dead before it even rises,’ Aldric thought, his mind racing in desperation.

Just then, the bigger wolf who seemed to be the alpha suddenly lunged at Aldric, its mouth wide open, ready to sink its teeth into him.

Then, as he was about to dodge the attack, he saw another wolf coming at him at a very fast pace.

“F-Fuck!”

Aldric could only use his hand as a shield and felt the wolf teeth sinking into his flesh.

Before Aldric could shake off the wolf, the alpha jaws had already clamped onto his side, tearing through his fat flesh and bone.

Pain surged through him, and he gritted his teeth to stifle a scream.

Then, before he could even see it, another wolf joined in the attack, putting its crooked teeth into his shoulder, and then the fourth wolf lunged at him, its jaws clamping onto his neck.

“Ahhh!”

The wolf was so big and heavy that Aldric lost his footing. The wolf keeps on biting and tearing his flesh, but a wicked smile stretches across Aldric's face.

“I don't have any weapon, but my body has become one. Drink! Eat me!” Aldric let out a ghastly laughter, his voice echoing in the cavern. "Eat me, but you won't kill me! I will be the one to kill you all!"

This was Aldric's first and last resort. After eating the spider's body and drinking its blood, his blood has become posioned, and thus, his own body has become his weapon.

He could feel his arm being detached to his body, and he could hear the sound of his bones cracking and the gruesome slurping of his poisoned flesh.

He was coughing up so much blood that his mouth became a crimson waterfall, but Aldric's laughter continued to echo through the cavern.

Five seconds later, having tasted the poison in Aldric's blood, began convulsing violently. The alpha wolf released its grip on Aldric, staggering backward, its body contorted in pain.

Saliva foamed from their mouth as the poison took effect.

They didn't even have the time to fight back as their eyes rolled back, and they fell on the floor, laying down on the spider's violet blood.

As the wolf's skin made contact with the spider's blood, its skin started to melt, producing smoke filled with a noxious stench.

The Alpha shoots Aldric a last wrathful glare and lets out a roar, but it offers no further resistance.

Soon, it breathes its last along with the three wolves.

Then Aldric heard the familiar announcement again.
