Chapter 3: Wrath

"A-A spider?" Aldric whispered to himself.

The monster's color was pale, and it seemed to have gone thinner. It is in a weakened state, but for Aldric, who was only level 1, it doesn't change the fact that he is in danger.

His instinct was to run, but it was as if his body was not his. It wouldn't listen.

Is he gonna die here? By this monster? Because of the Queen? Because he was weak?

Aldric heart raced, and his head was pounding now, too, beating hard on his temples, and he could feel the sweat running down his back.

"Shriek!"

Noticing Aldric and angry that a man was able to enter its territory, the creature suddenly let out a guttural growl, its posture shifting into a predatory stance.

Aldric's heart raced as he realized the danger he was in.

He has to move, or else he will die.

'Should I run? Where? But what if I run into a much more terrifying creature?'

His thoughts were interrupted by the creature's sudden lunge.

"Ah!" Aldric narrowly evaded its attack and stumbled backwards in the process.

The distance between him and the spider had increased significantly.

Aldric gritted his teeth, turned around, and ran as fast as he could, but his body was so heavy and out of shape that he only managed to create a little distance between himself and the spider.

"Shriek!" The spider let out an ear-piercing shriek.

It was mad, furious that its prey had managed to escape from right under its nose.

'Am I gonna die? Am I really gonna die here?! N-No! I don’t want to die! Please, run faster! Faster!'

The smell of death lingered in the air as Aldric desperately tried to navigate through the dark and uneven terrain.

The cave seemed to stretch on endlessly, with no sign of an exit.

Aldric suddenly heard the sound of rushing wind, and an instant later, something hard hit his left side.

He was flung against the wall.

"Ah!" Aldric coughed violently as all the air was pushed out of his lungs before sliding down the wall to fall into a heap on the ground.

"U-Ugh…"

Aldric's vision blurred over, but he could still make out the spider was chewing on something, and then he felt a hot feeling in his arm.

Aldric looked over to his left side, which had become inexplicably lighter.

Or, more specifically, to where his left arm should have been...

"H-Huh?" His expression stiffened, and he tilted his head in bewilderment.

'M-My arm… blood… my arm is gone!'

The excruciating pain of having his arm ripped off finally hit, which brought him back to reality soon enough.

"Aaahh!!!" Aldric's scream of anguish echoed. His left arm had been cleanly cut off below his elbow. “It hurts! I-It hurts! It burns! I-I'm gonna die here!"

But the spider didn't give Aldric any time for his agony as the spider already finished chewing anymore, and it wanted more. It finished his hand in an instant.

It was now looking at him—its prey.

Aldric wanted to escape, but every time he even moved, a wave of severe pain streaked through his body.

‘I-I gained a skill... But it's useless. It's only lessening the pain... I'm gonna die! I'm gonna die! Why do I have to suffer so much...? What did I ever do to deserve this? No weapons. Aldric closed his eyes and let his mind wander.

His eyes were getting heavy, and his whole body was wracked with pain and exhaustion, and Aldric began recalling events from his past.

‘Guess this is what they mean when they say your life flashes before your eyes.’

His parents left him because they were poor. Aldric thought at that time that his parents would come back for him, but he grew older and older, and his family showed no signs of returning.

Because of his age, he wasn't able to find a family that would adopt him like the other kids. At the age of 13, he escaped the orphanage and started to raise himself. He became independent and never relied on anyone.

Aldric suddenly remembered the woman who made him suffer and brought him into this place and his classmates who made fun of him and beat him for entertainment.

Aldric opened his eyes, anger suddenly welling up inside him.

It was at that moment that a seething anger had welled up in him, like an inferno burning in the depths of his soul.

Without anything on him, he picked up a huge stone and threw it at the spider.

“Shrieeeek!”

The stone was able to hit one of the spider's eyes, making the spider momentarily disoriented.

“As if I'll die here! No! I won't die here! I will not die a cowardly death here! That woman… that son of bitch queen! I will kill her first before I get killed! I will kill everyone!” Aldric yelled, his eyes sparkling ferociously as a wicked grin spread over his face. “Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!”

“Ahhh!” The pain was making him crazy. “I will kill you! I will kill you! I will kill all of you! Ahhh!”

Driven with fury, Aldric launches himself at the spider.

He climbed on the spider's head and used the stone to smash the spider's other eyes.

With a powerful swing, Aldric brought the stone crashing down onto the spider's injured head, and aimed for its remaining eyes.

The monster wasn't able to react immediately.

“Die! Die!” He stabbed one eye after another. “Die, you fucking monster! Die!”

The spider's violet blood splattered on Aldric's hands.

The spider's blood however was poison too as it melted off Aldric's skin, but this didn't make Aldric stop as his bloody mouth curled into a smile.

“Kill! I will kill all of you! Kill! Kill! Kill!”

Aldric didn't hear the voice because of his own voice. He didn't even notice that his body felt stronger than before, and his attack had managed to hurt the spider.

“I will kill you!”

“Shrieeeek!” the monster yelled with fury as it tried to shake Aldric off by frantically thrashing its massive body.

Aldric tried to cling on, but with one hand being gone, he found himself losing grip and flying through the air before his body hit the wall again.

But unlike before, he didn't feel any pain. Rather, he felt powerful.

“Shriek!” Suddenly, the spider spat out its poison, but because its eyes were gone, it was only able to hit the wall.

The wall that has the spider's poison sizzling before everything melts off.

“Shrieeeek!” The spider frantically moved and desperately hit every corner.

It seems that it has gotten desperate and more angry. It wants to kill its prey immediately.

“Haha, how does it feel to have no eyes, you fucker?” Despite the intense pain, he taunted the blinded spider. "I will fucking kill you! How dare you... how dare eat my hand?! I will eat you too!"

Aldric attempted to pick up a big stone with his only hand. Strangely, he was able to pick it up.

Aldric didn't waste any second and seized his opportunity to climb the spider.

Raising the stone, he hit the spider on its head, but because of its hard exterior the stone could only scratch its head but this didn't make Aldric stop.

Again and again, he hit the spider many times. He felt the skin in his hand peeling from the stone's impact, but the pain didn't make Aldric stop. Rather, it only made him crazier.

“Die! Die! Die!” Aldric yelled with every strike.

Pain! It was all he felt as the spider's poison blood splashed on his face, his skin burning upon contact.

“Die! Die! Die!” Aldric's voice echoed in the cave. "Die, you mother fucker!"

Finally, the stone penetrated the spider's hard exoskeleton, causing a satisfying crunch. However, the poison in the spider's blood was so strong that the only weapon of Aldric had melted off.

The stone was gone, but this didn't make Aldric stop at all. The spider is almost dying, and he only has to land his final blows.

"You dared to eat my hand? I will eat you too!"

Not in the right state of mind, Aldric uses his teeth as his new weapon.

He didn't waste any second as he sunk his teeth into the spider's body.
