Chris lit up a cigarette crossing his legs as he stared at the package box which had no name of the sender but only a number which he had tried calling yet it was out of service, Countless thoughts ran through his mind that this could either be a coincidence or an accident, there's a probability that his wife wasn't cheating and he had heard the man in the phone wrong. Could it be that it was the man who sent it or his wife who knew of the affair or there could be someone jealous of his wife?
"Why can't I get an answer." He mumbled to himself in an irritated tone, just then his phone began to ring and he stared down at it hoping it would be the number he had tried dialing but it turned out to be his wife's colleague Susan. He stared at his phone for a while before picking up the call, placing the phone on his ear, and removing the cigar from his mouth, he leaned his head back on the couch listening to whatever she wanted to say.
"Hey, Chris." She cheered from the other end of the line which had a nervous tone to it even though she tried hiding it with a cheerful voice. "I saw your call from earlier." Sue sounded breathless even though she tried to talk smoothly there were pauses in her words.
"Yeah, I wanted to reach out to my wife about something but she wasn't picking up so I decided to call you but you seemed to be quite occupied." He explained while staring at the skirt and stockings along with the package which still baffled him, he lifted them once again trying to convince himself that he was overthinking things but a part of him told him he was on the right track, his lips curved in a frown as he let the smoke out of his lungs through his mouth.
"I was dancing and the place was quite noisy." She said but Chris knew better than to believe those words, he knew she was lying and with the words of the man he heard earlier, he knew quite well that he couldn't trust her words.
"Oh really? You dance on business trips?" He tried hard not to sound scornful but knew she would realize with the tone of his voice.
"Not really… we um…. We just wanted to soothe our nerves as a….token for our hard work." She stuttered.
"Oh really." Chris frowned, holding back from bluntly telling her that she was lying. If anything one thing he detested the most was lies, Since he married his wife their relationship was strictly based on truths and she knew quite well not to lie to him but with what was going on she had played him white well under his nose. "Could my wife be close to you right now? I would love to speak to her." He implored taking out the cigar from his mouth and letting out the smoke through his mouth.
"Oh… um." She paused for a few seconds, trying to recollect herself as though she was searching for lies in her head to fill the void.
"I had heard someone mention her name earlier when I called," Chris added, recalling the thick masculine voice that had called his wife's nickname in a seductive tone that angered him. He grits his teeth trying to cool himself, if he were there then there would have been a countdown.
"Oh really, your wife has a captivating beauty that gets everyone's attention wherever she goes," Susan said. "A colleague had just complimented her, I believe that's the voice you heard." Chris slowly nodded his head smiling bitterly. "She also had to run some errands," Susan added.
Chris ran his hands through his hair as he couldn't think straight and hearing her voice irritated him more because she was noticeably lying to him.
"Okay, please tell her to reach out to me once she's back." He concluded not wanting to hear her dubious lies that were him up, his face was beginning to redeem in anger and he didn't want to snap at her not until he found out the truth.
"Sure." Susan ended the call, Chris took another whiff of the cigar in his hand looking up at the ceiling lost in thoughts, he had a hunch that Susan was lying to him yet he didn't want to say until he was a hundred percent sure.
He had known Susan when he went with his wife for their company get-together in which married colleagues were to bring their spouses; their relationship was so filled with love that people began to compare theirs with that of him and his wife. Yet his wife turned out to be cheating.
"I feel so bad for him," Chris muttered but laughed at his thoughts. How could he pity another man when he could be facing the same reality? Although his wife had exceptional beauty she had betrayed him and lusted after someone else which was the greatest pain he felt, how could she vividly let herself stray into another man's hand?
His phone buzzed again and he stared down at it to see it was his wife calling him, he received the call and reluctantly placed the phone on his ear. He clenched his fists, shutting his eyes as he restrained himself from blurting out anything that could reveal his knowledge of her infidelity. His lips curved into a frown as he opened his eyes staring at the ceiling trying to calm his raging emotions.
"What lies could she possibly be planning? What was her tone going to be like?" He thought to himself silently waiting for her to say something so he would know if she was cheating or if it was all a mistake caused by overthinking. His face began to sweat again as his heart replaced faster
.
"Hello, babe!" She chimed"Sorry the call got interrupted, I bumped into someone while running making me drop my phone…. And it broke." His wife explained with her sweet charming voice, when she previously used this tone to talk to him it always melted his heart, and right now it irritated it more than anything, it was as though every feeling he had for her evaporated."Why does it feel this way?" He thought to himself. He found it hard to believe the words she just spat, his lips curved into a wry smile that had pain seethed underneath."Oh really?" He asked doubtfully, he knew she was going to frown at the question because he never really questioned her answers ever since they were married because they never hid anything from each other."What do you mean by that?" Aria asked him, noticing how his tone was doubtful of her words. "Do you feel I'm lying?" Her voice sounded pained as though she had been stung by his words but right now he didn't seem to care, he was in a whirlpool of c
Chris had prepared dinner knowing his wife was finally coming home from the business trip, The doorbell ringing was a sign that she had arrived, he wondered why he hadn't heard her car engine but that made him realize how deep in thought he was. He wiped off his hand on a clean towel and walked towards the door turning the knob and opening it. Aria immediately joined him happily like a child who was meeting her father after a school vacation. "I miss you, honey." She beamed with joy placing playful kisses on his face. "Did my handsome hubby miss me?" Chris was nervous that he had to reveal the package he had received earlier and didn't know how she would react, would the truth be found or tell more lies or it was just a vivid misconception all along? "Yes, I am babe." He smiled trailing his eyes down her body once she was on her feet, she wore a black long-sleeve fitted dress that revealed her petite yet alluring figure that was a thirst trap for most men. Seeing her dressed like
His wife stared at him for a while still figuring out what to say and was in absolute shock staring at her skirt as though it had brought some sort of memory, his lips were trembling as though she was talking but in fact, she wasn't at all saying anything. Chris gazed at her as if confirming his hunch was right all along, his chest felt tight like he was about to suffocate in pain."This can't be true right?" He thought to himself shifting his gaze on one knee, it was as though everything was moving quote slowly and he hated every second he gazed at her and she hadn't said a word yet.Aria let out a sigh to calm herself before clicking her thumb as she quickly did. "Now I remember." She chimed gazing at him. He tilted his head waiting for her to be more detailed about what she meant."I had worn this skirt for a show to dance then washed it and hung it on the balcony but then I couldn't find it when I went to retrieve it later." She explained. "I thought it had been blown by the wind
"On second thought." His wife turned to look at him smiling mischievously. "Let's do it because I miss you." She placed a kiss on his lips, he was taken back at first but turned on right in the moment. He trailed wet kisses on her neck but she quickly stopped him."Wait." He stared down at her wondering why she wanted him to stop. "Turn off the light." She implored him not to think too much of it and stood up from the bed turning the lights off leaving only the dim bedside lamps so he could at least see his way around the room. He slowly took off her pajamas and placed wet kisses on her body, Every touch was sensational on her skin and she felt so good. She shut her eyes, falling asleep exhausted by their activities earlier. Chris stood from the bed turned the light and went back to the bed to see his wife's beautiful face, She looked like a perfect and flawless creature fallen from heaven. He noticed that she had put on her pajamas again and wondered why since she always felt unusual
"Are you implying that I lied to you?" She rolled her eyes at him seeming annoyed but he didn't say anything to her so she continued. "We were all divided into three groups, robbers, policemen, and hostages, The hostages were tied by the wrist, and although I was chosen to be one of the robbers, a colleague of mine Tracy complained about switching places with me and I did." She shrugged, pouting her lips as she stared at her wrists with a frown."I didn't expect it to be too tight that would cause my wrist to redden, that's why I wore the long-sleeved pajamas knowing you were going to be annoyed when you saw me hurt." She pouted her lips staring at him with angel eyes but Chris didn't look as though he believed a single word she had just said and she noticed that. "If you don't believe me then I can call her in front of you." Chris was still silent and finding a fault in whatever lies she just spoke but nothing came to mind, it was so perfectly planned that he could not question it,
Chris dialed the number that had just texted him but it was switched off which angered him, How could anyone sprout such nonsense and be scared to talk afterward?Just then someone called his phone and saw it was his assistant at his company, he immediately answered the call placing the phone on his ear."Good morning sir." His assistant Marcus greeted. "There's a situation." He sounded distressed and Chris knew instantly that something was wrong."What do you mean there's a situation?" Chris questioned making his way back to his car."Well there is a large painting on the company building with the word shame," Marcus explained, Chris paused for a second wondering if it was the person that had a person that had texted him initially, he couldn't think of another person who would do such a thing."Well do so things about it before it causes any issues, Also have you been able to find out the culprit?""No one has been brought forward yet but I'm on it, sir.""Good, I'll be on my way the
"Spit it out, what's wrong." Chris urged him as he wondered what he wanted to say that was so hard to spit out. He was having a bad day already and the suspense wasn't at all helping matters, he gently tapped his fingers on the table."I came to town a few days back and stayed in Lenora Hotel but something caught my attention." Brian began to say after so much hesitation."What is that?" Chris asked, getting tired of the suspense Brian was giving him. He leaned back in his chair "Not to say that she's cheating on you but it's just something I observed and wanted to be sure.""What do you mean?" Chris furrowed his brows"I couldn't see them quite well but I know your wife when I see her…. The man was about the same height as you if not taller and he had tattoos on his hand, I couldn't see his face." Brian explained. "When they were about to leave he called her name.""How sure are you that it was my wife you saw?" Chris asked."He called her Ari." Chris was dumbstruck trying to proces
Brian and Chris both arrived at the hotel and casually walked in but before they got to the reception, Chris told Brian how to go about requesting for the CCTV footage for it to be easier for them."I'm sorry but I cannot allow you access to that sir." The receptionist said plainly and casually resumed her work. She liked white young and beautiful yet charismatic, Brian who is known to be a player wasn't in the mood to pull anything off as the situation was a matter of emergency, that could either break a marriage or clear doubts in the air."What nonsense is this? Do you have any idea how much that Rolex watch costs?" Brian snapped at her angrily but still, she wasn't shaken by those words."I cannot let you sir, please understand." She told him. "Could you tell me your name so I could search from our records if you had booked our hotel, From there I can take you back to the room you stayed in and do a thorough search.""Brian Owens." He told her adjusting his sunglasses as he looked
The morning dawned with a delicate shine of sunlight, promising warmth for that day. The sunlight peered through the curtains casting a soft glow on Melissa's face as she slept. Gradually sensing the heat and bright light from the sun, she blinked her eyes open, adjusting herself into a comfortable position on the bed. The space beside her was empty, Chris nowhere in sight. "Maybe he's working in his study." She muttered to herself, trying to sit upright. Chris now worked from home because of Melissa. He wanted to make sure that she never got to stress herself during the last few months of her pregnancy, and that he was always there whenever she needed him. He only went to the office if the situation needed itTwisting her neck sideways to relieve them of it's stiffness, her hand instantly went to her protruding belly, rubbing gentle circles around them as a smile played on her lips. It felt like yesterday when they were unsure of their love, but now a year had passed. Gradually
Melissa stared at her wedding gown with joy plastered on her face. She had begun preparing for her wedding and was more than excited, she had asked her friend Daphne to come help her out in choosing her wedding gowns since she could not make up her mind.Cnrid had recommended that we go to a luxury "Isn't this perfect?" She turned around to ask her friend Daphne."Sure, it suits your sling but I feel it may be too heavy for you to move around," Daphne suggested while staring at the dress. "Why not try another?"The staff beside them pointed to a series of other options to choose from but Melissa was confused and didn't know which one to take."Have you found the one you like?" Chris's voice erupted in the room and they turned to gaze at him. Melissa gazed at him illuminating her face with a smile, she walked towards him and embraced him in a warm hug."Not yet, I still haven't made up my mind on which one to choose." She pouted her lips gazing at the numerous gowns available. "Why do
Chris had taken Melissa on a vacation trip so they could enjoy their moment together and get to know each other more. He also took it as a time for her to take a break from all the stress that had happened to her."Aren't these gifts a little too much?" Melissa pouted gaznng at the mirror admiring the silver dress he had bought for her."You deserve the world honey don't worry too much about the worth of the gift I'm giving you, after all the most expensive thing you've given me is your heart and my money can't be enough to buy that," Chris said as he caressed her lips placing a kiss on it."Don't flatter me." She looked away shyly, he gently pulled her close to him and looked away and gazed at her."I mean every word I tell you…. Don't for once doubt it." He leaned on her chest and smiled. "I love you too much to play with your heart."."What do you think about going out for dinner later this evening?" He asked gazing at her curiously. "It's okay if you don't feel like it." He added.
Weeks had passed since the whole incident and Chris was finally getting better although had to walk around with a walking stick to aid his movement, on the other hand, Melissa was still admitted to the hospital and still unconscious. It had saddened him to know that she lost the child but thankfully she was still alive. Chris walked into the ward with fresh flowers to put in her room so she could have a nicely scented room."Good morning princess." He smiled at Melissa laying in the bed and the only thing he got back was the beeping machine noises that assured him she was right. He walked towards the flower vase replaced the old ones with the new ones he had just brought and walked to the chair to sit beside Melissa's bed. "Wale up soon okay?" He gently lifted her hand and placed a gentle kiss on it. Her skin had gotten paler and when he had brought it to the doctor's concern, he was told that it was because she was still unconscious and when she woke up, she would get back to herself
"What?" Melissa was stunned to see Aria and glanced at Chris."She's with Alex." He forced out the words and gazed at Melissa."Such a whore." She mumbled and pulled out a gun from her pocket aiming at Aria."You have a death wish, don't you? Stooping so low that you spread your legs for every man you see.""What the hell do you know about me huh?" Aria lashed out."I know that you're a whore, that's for certain." Melissa shrugged her shoulders, Chris had finally noticed the way Melissa dressed as an officer and tilted their head wondering if he was making things up."Why are you wearing this?" Chris asked her curiously."Long story short I'm an investigator." She gave him a quick smile before gazing at Aria who was also shocked at the discovery."So all this while you used working with him as a cover-up?" Aria smirked. "Wouldn't it be shameful if they knew how you got pregnant?""That is none of your concern!" Chris raised his voice at Aria."Don't you dare raise your voice at me!" S
"Ya'll better start talking or I'm about to pry you all open." He threatened pulling out a gun from the back of his trouser. "What the hell is she here?" He asked referring to Aria who was glaring at him furiously."You seem quite energetic for the day but I'm afraid you're interrupting a heart-warming scene," Alex smirked."Aria come here right now," Kade ordered her but she stood firmly in the ground."Who do you think you're talking to honey" Sir folded her hand on her chest and smiled, Kade was somewhat taken aback, he could sense a change in her and wondered why she had behaved like this all of a sudden. "You had better watch that mouth of yours.""Just what do you mean by that?" Kade demanded, he was furious. "Are you still going to choose that bastard over me?" He pointed to Chris who remained quiet and hung his head low."I doubt that is the situation here." She threw herself onto Alex and smiled."You better get away from her or I will blast your head off." Kade threatened hi
Several days had passed and Chris hadn't heard from his brother or had anything to eat, he was slowly losing his mind and the smell of blood enveloping the room picked him so much."It's been a while." Alex's voice erupted in the room and he the door creaked open, Chris struggled to lift his head and gazed at him."He needs treatment." He turned to Marcus who was laying weakly on the floor. "He has nothing to do with this, why does he have to suffer?" "You seem quite healthy for someone how head starved." Alex lit up a cigarette gazing at Chris coldly. "Answer me!" Chris demanded but Alex still wasn't bothered by his question."I'm slowly going to drive you to insanity to the point where you would beg me to end your life but I would not," Alec said, puffing the smoke in Chris' face and laughing. "You should see your face right now.""You psycho!""Well then, why didn't I invite a very special guest huh?" He whispered into Chris' ear.Chris couldn't help but wonder who it could be an
"How can it be?" Chris gasped. "You… died.""Well as you can see it's my spirit taking revenge on you." Alex laughed sarcasticallyChris was still in shock and hadn't recovered, he recalled that after that incident he was been blamed for the death of his step brother who couldn't be found, and was taken to his grandmother's place to live till he grew up and had never heard from his parents because they had cut him off."You faked your death?" Chris gazed at him in annoyance."How could you do such a thing to me?" Alex pouted his lips looking like a maniac."I never intended to do so, but now that I think of it I should have pushed you harder so that you would truly die." Chris stared at him waiting for some sort of explanation. "So you're telling me because of a little incident you caused this chaos?"The ringing of Alex's erupted the room and he turned around walking out of the room without any more words. Chris turned his gaze to Marcus who was still unconscious and frowned.Melissa
The cold freezing water flowing down Chris' body caused him to jerk up up I'm shock, panting as he tried to catch his breath and survey his unfamiliar surroundings."Wake up Prince Charming." He heard a familiar voice echo in his ear, he gazed at the man standing in front of him dressed in an all-black attire that gave off chilly vibes. "I don't have the entire day to wait for you."Chris winced in pain gazing at the man who hit him, his entire body ached and he felt intense pain in his head as warm liquid seeped out."Who are you?" Chris asked glaring at him."What are you so keen to know who I am since you would be dying here?" "At least I remember you once I'm out of here and you're six foots under…. Sorry, I forgot no one would be burying you." Chris chuckled amidst the intense pain he was feeling."You haven't changed have you?""You know it's bad manners not to introduce yourself." Chris frowned at him trying to get a view of his fave behind the mask and suddenly felt a sense o
