CHAPTERThe call shook him greatly and he raced home like a mad man, momentarily forgetting that he was supposed to be mad at her for all she had done. His compassionate side took over, the tone in her voice was so thin and frail that it kept playing in his head even as he went home. Although she had cheated on him, as he knew more than once and even with more than one man, he still cared about her. Of course, he still had revenge on his mind, but this wasn't how he planned to do it. He got to the house and parked the car haphazardly then ran into the house. She wasn't in the living room or anywhere downstairs. "Aria!" He called, but there was no response. Then he ran up the stairs and threw the bedroom door open. The room was awkwardly dim for this time of the day, she had closed the curtains and only a pale blue light shone in the room. "Aria?" He called again, he made out an outline of someone on the bed, it had to be here lying there in that manner. "I…Chris… i thought yo
Several days later, Chris was in his office, he was tired and visibly worn out. There were lines of exhaustion on his forehead and he closed his eyes as he leaned back on his chair. He had gone through another night of sleeping in his office, this time it hadn’t been as comfortable as the first night. The couch was just too small and narrow, his legs too long and his body refused to adjust to the confined space. He would have slept in the worker’s room on the ground floor but that wouldn’t create a good image. He didn’t want the whole fucking company to know that he was having issues with his wife. What made his morning worse was when his secretary walked in and told him about the meeting he had scheduled for that morning. He literally had to drag himself there and fight the drowsiness that clouded his eyes. As if that wasn’t enough, it was a very long and boring meeting that seemed interminable, it took a miracle for him not to completely doze off. He threw his suit as he walked
There was definitely a mix up somewhere. How was Aria with Kade next to the pool in a fucking bikini and at the hospital at the same time? “What? What are you saying Kade? I’m not fooling around with you, I just saw Aria right now and from the looks of things, I don’t think everything is alright.” Susan said. “What do you mean by that, Susan?” Chris asked, the panic that was in Susan’s voice seethe into his own voice. “I just saw her near the abortion room, she seems very pale and worn out. Even as she’s speaking, her face looks drawn with a great deal of pain. She’s not okay, Chris, I think you have to come over here right now.” Susan replied, speaking rapidly. “Who…Who is she speaking to?” He asked slowly, still not able to make sense out of what was going on right now. “Uhm, a doctor and a nurse. I keep hearing what they’re saying in chasms, they’re almost whispering. I heard ‘something painful.’ And then the doctor said, ‘it is done already, you do not have much to worry abou
Briella stared down at her for a long uncomfortable moment and Olivia swallowed hard. She had noticed something, every time she saw her, she always dressed as though she purposely wanted to look like Aria. On a certain day when she had been trailing her husband, she had even noticed that Olivia wore exactly the same clothes as Aria that day and she had been so confused when she saw Aria in one place, then her replica, Olivia, in another. Briella could remember that day very clearly, she had been watching Kade, suspecting that indeed he was having an affair with another woman whom at that time she wasn’t sure who it was. Storming upon Aria along the way, they had exchanged pleasantries calmly. Aria had sighted her and approached her first in the coffee shop opposite the company Kade worked, whose window she had been staring out of. “Hey, Briella Bricks?” Aria asked with a warm smile on her face. They didn’t know each other too well at that time, but Briella had seen her already a c
Chris didn't have much to say to Kade, there was only one question on his mind as he sipped his cocktail, his mind constantly on Aria and if she was okay. "So, tell me something, Mr. Kade." Chris said drinking quietly for about five minutes. "It's just Kade, you don't have to add the mister." Kade said imperiously. "Too bad, yeah? I call you whatever the fuck I want." Chris snapped. "Now, does my wife know about what I did to you? Did you tell her that I know about your sexcapades?" He asked.Kade shook his head, "If she knows, then I wasn't the one who told her." He replied. "We haven't met since that day and apparently, you haven't been much of a husband to her either since that day." He remarked. Chris squinted at him and said, "Apparently, because my wedding ring was smeared with your stinking blood."He knew Kade was trying to get under his skin but he kept his cool. The word abortion kept ringing in his mind over and over again. Could it be that it was Kade's child she was
Chris didn't know what to say initially as he just stared at her. From a first glance, he knew that something was wrong somewhere. She had this withdrawn attitude, like she was going through a depression phase of some sort. Her eyes darted around nervously, like something would just spring out of one of his cupboards and dive for her neck. Behind those darting eyes of hers, was a flicker of fear that she hid behind a smile. Her hands seemed to be trembling, her skin had taken on a sallow color, Aria wasn't herself. This wasn't the confident lady that had tried to seduce him several days ago, she was a shadow of herself. But then he couldn't ask because there were too many possibilities swirling in her head. Was she nervous because she had found out about what he did to Kade and was suddenly too scared to even talk to him? Or was it about the doctor's appointment and the abortion Susan had talked about over the phone? He didn't know, the only person he could get an answer from was
His heart lurched when he saw the message. “STILL CURIOUS? SANDY’S RESTURANT, FIVE BLOCKS DOWN THE STREET.” The message read this time, when he saw the address, his heart raced with excitement. At least this strange person was moving at a rapid speed instead of leaving him in a whirlpool of suspense. He didn’t waste any time, he turned and was about to leave when he felt a hand on his arm. “Where are you off to again, boss?” Melissa asked, staring at him with frustration. She was visibly tired of searching for him tirelessly when he was needed. He was impatient, “I’ll be right back, Melissa, just heading down the street. Is my schedule clear?” He asked, although he didn’t care at that point, all he wanted to do was get away. “Well,” She drawled and stared up for moment, each second fueling his impatience more and more. “Yes, your schedule is clear for the day.” “Great, if something comes up, give me a call and I’ll be right there, okay? Great.” He turned and walked quickly
Chris walked into the house to find Aria in a more miserable state than she was earlier. She was sweating and you could tell that she was very jittery just by the way she gasped when the door opened and Chris walked in. She plastered a false smile to her face as he stared at her, "Hey, you came back." She said, her voice was still unsteady despite all the effort she had put in to sound calm and collected. He stared at her, detecting that frightened note in her voice. "Yeah... I'm here, just like I said I would be." He replied, staring at her fixedly. "Seems like I shouldn't have come, the slightest sounds make you flinch like you're in a fucking horrow movie." She swallowed and maintained the smile she flashed at him, "What do you mean, babe?" She asked and laughed nervously. "I'm fine, I told you earlier." She said. "Well, sometimes you can just see through the lies..." He muttered and walked in. When he looked at her, he saw the images again that had been sent to him, h
