‘This was not what she had signed up for.’

May turned to Declan and saw a smirk on his face that she wanted to slap off. He was smiling like he didn’t care about the gravity of James Livingston’s presence in the city, especially if he was the one who had killed Jason. She walked up to him and grabbed his collar.

“Declan, I want you to tell me the truth. Did you kill Jason Livingston?”

“How else did you think I got back the money that he was planning on swindling from you and your mother?” he replied grimly. “Speaking of which, I haven’t wired the transfer yet.” He pulled out his phone and started to click on it.

“Stop that. I want a straight answer; did you kill Jason or not?” May asked, hugging in by his collar.

“Yes. I killed that bastard, and I am not worried so I don’t see any reason why you should be worried.” Declan said, pulling May’s hands from his collar before finishing the transfer.

May’s phone beeped and she looked at it to see a transfer of a hundred million dollars. She
